Fun fact: Mansa Musa was, ostensibly, the single richest person to have ever lived. He was so rich, in fact, that he would ruin countries he visited with inflation due to the sheer amount of gold his court carried around. So all of this is pretty much entirely on point.

What you could do is make them give you 1000 favors (an actual diplomatic resource), as the button would always be 'Accept'. You could then exchange these favors for their entire empire.
Sadly they fixed this in the latest expansion.

18:22 When you moused over Germany's coal stockpile I think it said "They have reached their maximum capacity" or something along those lines. So they were agreeing to a deal and gaining the coal - which they physically didn't have room to store - and then it was bouncing back to you because they had nowhere to store it, but giving you the gold anyway.
I have no idea how this helps in any way. I suspect it only makes the poor broken AI even dumber than we first thought it was, but I can at least wonder if that was why that particular transaction screwed up. The logic is bad and broken, but it's THERE at least... Maybe its a repeatable exploit and not just a glitch?

    • @Astrobay13
      @Astrobay13 5 лет назад +24

Germany isn't maxed out on coal. It literally says "You already have the maximum amount of this item" the second you linked.
The reason he's not losing any coal imo is because his coal mines are producing more coal than he can store, so when he sells one, one gets transferred from his coal mine to his coal stash. I can just assume this only works until the coal mine production for this round is empty, which makes perfectly sence

@@nuclearwarlordgandhi7941 The AI is horrible, but graphics are a matter of taste. I actually like that cartoonish style. Some review of the AI for @TylerAndToast: Worst part of the AI is not these shown exploits (as they can be ignored), but the fact that it is overall completely incompetent and dumb in every way. Lower difficulty is no fun grind and higher difficulty games are always like this:
You start behind (why they always do this, why not give equal starts and aid the AI more along the way?), deal with AI being assholes to you for the most random reasons and forward settling you before turn 10, get declared war a few times, beat their messy army with your inferior but organized one (at least you're no longer a warmonger for defending or even taking one city as a punishment), then keep catching up, overtake them and grind to a science victory because you have already invested so much to science to catch up. Domination is too slow to do since you have to stabilize conquered cities due to the loyalty system, diplomacy feels like a total bore, religious is nigh impossible if you have any religion oriented opponents (which you almost always do). Cultural victory could be a possibility depending on your opponents, but it's usually faster to grind the space race.
So the biggest problem is that playing with the AI has a reverse difficulty curve, where the start feels unfair (because it is), you are even with the AI for a moment, and then it becomes a grind. Feels like firaxis has these problems with some other games too, namely XCOM series. But in XCOM games it makes sense as you are the underdog. In Civ you are supposed to start on an even ground.
When it comes to exploits, it seems the AI is not properly coded to handle these new revamped strategic resources. It is also extremely annoying that sometimes when you have some new resources, every AI tries to offer a deal for multiple turns in a row, so you have to bash Esc for the whole time of waiting your turn to neglect their shitty offers.
Otherwise the game is great for example for multiplayer where these problems don't matter, and if some mods get updated to GS compatibility (namely AI+), playing against AI might become more enjoyable. There is a No AI Start Advantage mod, but it might make it so that they fall behind almost right away, haven't tested that enough yet.
Edit: There seems to be a Smoother Difficulty mod which decreases AI start bonuses and increases the long term ones. Definitely trying out that one.

Ask to buy 1, they give you a price, then you change the amount you buy to 10 and they don't complain (usually) or want the price changed, but once the AI is at a stage where they need the resource you're buying from them it's limited how much you can squeeze out of them before they complain. His pilgrimage includes 12000 slaves each carrying 4lbs of gold, 80 camels each carrying somewhere between 50-300lbs of gold dust, and heralds carrying solid gold staves and wearing all silk errthang.
To quote wiki- "Musa's journey was documented by several eyewitnesses along his route, who were in awe of his wealth and extensive procession, and records exist in a variety of sources, including journals, oral accounts, and histories. Musa is known to have visited the Mamluk sultan of Egypt, Al-Nasir Muhammad, in July 1324.[23]. However, Musa's generous actions inadvertently devastated the economies of the regions through which he passed. In the cities of Cairo, Medina, and Mecca, the sudden influx of gold devalued the metal for the next decade. Prices on goods and wares greatly inflated. To rectify the gold market, on his way back from Mecca, Musa borrowed all the gold he could carry from money-lenders in Cairo at high interest. This is the only time recorded in history that one man directly controlled the price of gold in the Mediterranean."

The coding in Civ VI is clearly so hacked together, it's a giant fucking mess.
For example, why would they not put more effort into an algorithm which evaluates the value of resources to the AI so they offer sensible deals? Because they couldn't be bothered, so they just hacked something arbitrary together. Why are there so many small bugs, like UI icons not updating after recent changes? Because everything is fucking hacked together. Why can units teleport across an entire mountain range using a single tunnel entrance/exit, and where you can even put battleships through? Because they couldn't be bothered to even fucking playtest it and think about whether that makes sense. Why is the AI so fucking stupid? Because it's easier to just give them more bonuses than actually get some competent programmers to do the AI. Why doesn't the Civolopedia always make the effects of certain things clear? Because they couldn't be bothered to think about it.
And reducing the cost of a unit to 0%? Why don't percentage increase/decreases just multiply?!?!

I haven't got the game, so I can't confirm this, but I'd assume those units have a default cost of less than 10 gold each. In that case, if the game rounds cost down instead of up, those units would cost 0 gold each.

      -20% Barracks/Stable (City State bonus)
      -20% Armory (City State bonus)
-20% Military Academy (City State bonus)
That's a 105% discount the way the game calculates it.
