This is so helpful. The shape system was a bit of a mystery to me. The biggest limitation between Fusion and After Effects for me has been vector graphics (especially for logos). So this is amazing.
It's exciting. Still hoping for .eps support or maybe a Reactor tool for converting logos. But still, being able to work fully in vector is a big deal.@@JakeWipp
Hi bro! I need help, Im following the steps to import an svg file on davinci and I can’t import it, I dont really know how to do it. I click in the window of fusion, then I click on import, then I click on svg and look for the file, all like are you explaining and nothing happens in my computer!!
Hi jake! great focus on vectors! thank You! a question, you use a new DaVinci Resolve function to animate the "compression" and decompression of your image of the picture in picture?
hey great video, can you help out with how you are taking you running aroll into the small box in the bottom right corner mid video, i did try but it was a lot of effort
Hi! Thanks for the kind words! I made this using my WippCam effect from the EditorCollection. You can actually get that same look with a drag and drop effect! It's linked in the video description and is on a huge sale for Black Friday!
Hey Jake, im a german viewer of your channel. Just quick question: does it that i have to use vectors or the nodes with „s“ in front to achieve better quality? And Will this affect my current workflow?
I don't know what wrong I do inside fusion but everytime I create whatever with Shape system inside Davinci Resolve and I zoom in using transform node its just get blurry just as if I make it with masks and backgrounds. It is just me ? In After Effects it doesn't happend with text, shapes and ai files I can zoom in 15 000% and its still so sharp. Why is that ? I see that if I preview my nodes with sRender then is pixelated and if I preview sMerge then its sharp as it should be. So what is advante of doing stuff in shape system if at the end of the day is still pixelated ? I don't understand.
Hey! It sounds like you are using the normal Transform node, if you use the sTransform node inside of the shape system that will allow you to zoom without losing quality
Any way I could apply this to text with a custom background? I'm currently working on a map that has a bunch of small text on it. And there's an animation where I zoom in into the text sort of like to read what's in the map. I can't make it so the text be sharp still.
In this case I would use the 3d system and the 3d Text node which will work in vector as well. Then have a 3d camera zoom in/out and move around as you need
@@TeamA-f2i If you are using an image for the map then it needs to be high resolution for it to remain sharp when you zoom at it. For added texts, I set an expression to the text size. The expression relates to the zoom parameters of the map image.
wow wow wow hold your horses! This was just too much for someone coming to see the video because, you know... we don't know about it. Take your time. Be gentle. Hug me at the end.
wait...when you leave the node it's pixelated? I had NO IDEA. Also I had just avoided the s objects assuming it stood for stinky. Thank you Jake!
To be honest, I avoided them at first too! But they are really powerful! Thanks for stopping by!
Very amazing, svg system will ve awesome.

Absolutely!!! I really want to dive into it more and show off how it can be used! That's the plan for a bunch of upcoming videos!

Hey Jake…great demo of difference between shapes and images. Awesome Thumbnail…. Squid launcher! Oh yeah!
God Bless you Jake !
Wait for the next video.

Thanks! I use a preset from my EditorCollection pack. It's linked in the description if you wanted to check it out

The shape system has extra performance because it doesn't have to do all the alpha related calculations unlike the masked background system.

Ah I see. I need to use render node to make use of polygon.
What about applying effects to a particular shape node?
Really good video... but Jake, why do you sound Canadian?
Ah thank ya there. Sorry 'bout that bud. Don't ya know I'm from Wisconsin, not Canada. 😂

how did you make sharp map animation in Davinci Resolve ??
