I’m glad you were able to get enough beams to start your project. Enjoyable video. Thanks Brock

Creosote is typically put on in a pressure chamber. The fact they rotted on the inside was a bad job by the creosote plant and didn't leave it under pressure long enough. We had a creosote plant in our home town. I and my father in law were building a shelter, when we cut off to length we realized it was a bad job, took them back and when we picked them up later the only thing that didn't have creosote was the heart, which in itself will last as long as the treated part. Take away is the plant back in that day knew they could get away with the bad job being given to the railroad.

Are you planning on “treating” the interior wood that didn’t have any creosote on them before putting them in the ground? I like a heavy coat of “oil based” protection. Enjoyed the video. Looking forward to the build.

Could soak them in used motor oil

I normally make fun of the safety police but I saw what creosote did to my brother in law years ago setting fence post. He was bear hugging big posts , setting them in the ground and drenched in sweat . That night, he swelled up like a Ballon, definitely toxic reaction.

You may want to add a drip line so the blade would have lube on it while sawing without using the spray bottle

It has a drip line that is activated off of the throttle. I don’t want to put the Pine-Sol in my reservoir.

@@RockhillfarmYT Pine-Sol is something folks also recommend vs. washer fluid - so other than cost, should be fine but if you are only milling those 2 RR beams - not worth the trouble.

Did you ever find out what species those are? I'm thinking either Doug fir or white pine because of the incisor marks.
