I hope drew eventually gets a nice long reign. Because this man is putting in the work and has been made to look foolish 3 times now.
It'd be poetic justice if he wins the Heavyweight title from CM Punk.

He offically became the new Kurt Angle at MitB, he hit the Angle Trifecta. 1) Great technical wrestler, great in ring work.2) excellemt utility performer, can be a heel or a babyface, with a wide range of uses from serious, to comedy, to sympathy. You can put him anywhere and he can make it work. 3) The crowd now chants "you suck" to the rythym of his entrance music.

I find it hard to believe Priest would just forget to kick out. Maybe they missed a cue for Drews music? That was a confusing spot.

@@jacobtoomey844 His main roster and even his NXT themes were just jobber stock music loops. This one feels like an actual main event song and not just the usual Def Rebel slop of saying the wrestler's name/catch phrase and then looping poorly mixed percussion
They could always just mix the dog barking back into the intro if it's needed. I think it's too overproduced and gimmicky personally
That Women's MitB is an easy Match of the Year candidate for me. From Bell to Bell it was just insane what they went through. So many spots that just looked brutal and I was just in shock and amazed after.
The last half was amazing, as it had some great spots. I think it got off to a rocky start, with Lyra missing the mark a couple of times, and Zoe botching that swanton off the ropes. After that they really pulled it together, and you could see the three veterans acting as ring generals throughout the match, especially Iyo, and even Stark had the ring awareness to make some adjustments to the ladder setup. That'a when it turned around and just got wild. I know Tiffany took the briefcase, but Chelsea stole the crowd, her final spot off the ladder, out of the ring and through the tables was amazing and executed perfectly. I think Naomi deserves some credit for that spot where she was essentially doing a split between the two ladder, one of those ladders was pretty wobbly and threatened to fall, but her athleticism and balance prevailed. It had some nail biting moments, not all of them intentional.
Tonga Loa and Zoey Stark both need to be checked for concussions. Loa's head made a scary thud and looked like he was in the fencing position for a sec

Absolutely the women's MiTB was miles above the men's. They really took some nasty bumps.
@@Phoenix512100 because most of them were errors. In the first eight or nine minutes they fucked up at least four ladder bumps. It got much better... For a while anyway until Zoey stark reminded us that she exists.
Huge fan of the outcome though. Love Tiffany.

That Bron catch derves note, I mean, he was out of postion, but thanks to his sheer strength he was able to keep Sami landing on his head.
I think Priest was legitimately banged up on that kick out, after the ref stops counting he starts pumping his hand in a fist like he's trying to get the feeling back

Not sure I understand the logic behind the men's MitB booking, but was a solid PPV overall.
Just feel like they missed an opportunity to get someone over with the briefcase to further a feud that didn't need the briefcase involved in it.
They do not want to dethrone cody/reserve him for mania, and they have plans for the World title so eliminating the briefcase early benefits them.
@@AntiworkWork They could've easily run with Gable holding onto it and hanging it over Sami's head like a sword of Damocles while the Wyatts attempt to interfere with his plans to cash in. I hate the idea that they NEED to cash in on the main title
I think they want to avoid another long MITB reign. Everyone thought Priest would fail because he held it so long and if Gunther wins the world title at SummerSlam I don’t see that title changing anytime soon. Also everyone in that match has a clear trajectory for their future that doesn’t involve the world title, so the briefcase would’ve become an afterthought.
@@Gannoh In kayfabe it really doesn’t make sense to cash in on the IC or US. MITB gives you literally a golden opportunity to win in most cases so why would you waste it on anything other than the biggest prize? The only situation it would work for me was when Roman held the belt hostage or for someone like Sheamus who has that one title they’ve never won.

The Rollins Priest match seemed so slow and the ending was really confusing.

Am i the only that just hates seeing punk screwing over Drew. I am seeing drew as a face and punk as a heel. Is that what they going for? Because thats how im seeing it.
Definitely a major drop-the-ball moment for the Paul Levesque Era. Women's MITB match was okay at best for me, but imo; NOTHING could've saved this PPV from the major flop of events that took place.
My hot take: McIntyre's win wasn't the problem, how they handled it AFTERWARDS was the problem. Priest's botch should've had a fail-safe/improv put into it; either the ref could've made the 3-count, or Finn could've intervened in place for Drew to make his appearance.
And despite AJ Lee not being there, CM Punk wasn't too much of an issue either. In fact, if they wanted to re-build his rivalry with Seth, they could've made it to where Seth actually won the WHC title, and have Punk give false props before delivering a GTS to end the match.
And as for the main event. . . .
I got nothing.
I worry for what's in store for the Wyatt Six if this is how booking goes. HHH needs to get it together. Especially since Cena is on his last run starting from now.

With that said, I ain't bashing. Just hoping to see more of an improvement before Summerslam.
1) What fail save can you have when the intended interruption is the music hitting?
2) Why should Seth win? Gunther is due at Summerslam.
@@undertakernumberone1 1. Apparently, Priest was too concussed, or the production backstage didn't play Drew's music at the right time, so they could've called an audible for Finn to run out to re-direct attention from the obvious botch, then deal with things from there.
And 2. I didn't say Seth SHOULD'VE won, but if the moment came to be that Damian WAS too concussed to kick out, they could've just landed the 3-count; Drew comes out and the same thing I mentioned happens.
And besides, Gunther being due at Summerslam doesn't really matter for both competitors, as either of them are gonna have to face him there, regardless.

I don't think I would have had an issue with the cash-in, if this wasn't the 3rd time its happened where Punk screwed McIntyre over and he just kinda had to take it. McIntyre beat Punk up, but Punk was back just a couple of weeks later. At this point it just feels like McIntyre is a clown that's getting bullied. Its so one-sided. And incredibly predictable at this point.
Yeah, that's the problem with the cash-in, this Punk screwing Drew thing is wearing thin. It's no longer this back and forth revenge plot, now Drew is just an idiot.
The women's ladder match was brutal in both a good way and a painful looking botchy way.

I just don’t understand why HHH has any faith in Phil Brooks when recent history shows that he will either keep getting hurt or he will implode and ruin the storyline?? The men’s MiTB match was made pointless, Bron losing clean seems pointless, I guess the men’s title match result serves as the filler until Gunther wins in 4 weeks but why have a pointless match then. Chelsea would have been a GREAT story but Tiffy will be a good one. And my belief in Mr Sikoa is So-Low that his future is probably on the level of a Shock-Master or Mason Ryan. And Seth will only be out of the picture for 4 weeks until our paper champion loses to the King-General.
Am I the only one who realized Damien was concussed & couldn't kick out which is why they called an audible & sent Drew out there early to make it a nonsensical 3 way.
Solid PLE let’s be honest. But it was let down hugely by the whole Punk and Drew thing. They already have heat in their rivalry! Punk still could have cost Drew the match without Drew winning and wasting it
This was a 9/10 event. Great stuff throughout. The Women's MITB match was the match of the night, what a brutal affair that was.
No, it wasn't. It was a 2.5/10 if were honest. The only saving grace was the Women's MITB match where the two heels got the biggest pops (shocking).

See this is what I was thinking when they first started building towards that match. Like I didn't want to see him lose, but I also kinda felt like he's ready to do bigger things than have an IC title reign. Idk. Weird match that probably never should have been booked in the first place.
Nah, Sami needed the win. If you're gonna have an I.C. title reign after someone who broke a record like GUNTHER, then his title reign has to be meaningful and not just hotshot to any new prospect that comes from NXT.

Yeah, that Seth vs Damien match got so botched there.. it should have played off with Seth winning, then Drew coming in to take his title back off Seth, but only for CM Punk to come in and stealing the contract from Drew.. Stupid waste of the contract to be honest.

Both world titles have 9+ months of story alredy set up. And no one in the mitb match is "ready" to cash in in the last 3 months of the year contact.

The way Priests eyes snap back, his hand/fingers start wiggling and it looks like he looks at Seth and says “I got knocked out” I think something may have happened to Priest. So may not have been his fault.

It wasn't waste because he wasn't going to win against Gunther and Cody anyway and he involved with Logan and the us title
There isn't a good time any time soon for anyone to cash in and win a world title. Unless they were going to sacrifice Gunther unexpectedly, the MitB would just sit there and do nothing for a very long while. It was going to get "wasted" no matter what.
As much as I wanted to see Chelsea with the briefcase, I'm excited to see how Tiffy goes about her cash in!
THe writing with Drew made sense, imho.
1) It removes the MITB Briefcase from the equation for hte coming year. WHen Damien Priest had his long run with the case, or basically every time that happens, people complained about how he wasn't cashing in on a good situation, even pointing out that the WM Cash in wasn't really "the best moment" because there had been better ones beforehand
Now imagine, purely as an example, Priest and RHodes have a HiaC match that leaves both of htem completely drained and unable to do anything when the cage gets lifted. But nobody cashes in. "Why didn't *insert name here* cashing in?!" (Because, of course, the plans say so). Then he cashes in 2 months later in a less advantageous situation. "Idiot!" blabla. Or alternatively they complain... abotu the briefcase being wasted because the holder ain't cashng in.
And then, the folks saying "Knight of Gable should've won and used it on the Midcard belt!"... The same thing people gave WWE and Austin Theory crap for when THeory cashed in on the US Belt, because he wasted the MitB briefcase? Really?
2) "Why didn't Punk let Drew win the belt! THen he'd face him for it at SS!!!" For one, Punk wouldn't. Gunther has his KotR win shot at Summerslam. So either GUnther would get screwed by making it a Triple Threat (with him as the THird Wheel), or Drew retaining would be set. In any case, Gunther should be the next WHC champ. And if Gunther takes the belt, people would ask: "Why even have Drew take it at KotR!"
And: Punk, for now, doesn't really care about the belt! He wants to make Drew suffer for injuring him, for running the pleasure he took in that and hten the SD attack. It's not about the belt. I mean, for other feuds, we love to criticise WWE just putting a title on one of them to make it seem "bigger" just for fans to go "Eh, the feud didn't need the title. Felt kinda tacked on and that guy deserved a better run..."
3) This neatly sets up Punk VS Rollins for later, since he screwed ROllins as well.
While I agree that Punk or AJ screwing Drew in the MitB match could'Ve been the better call, it also could've led to other old complaints coming back. I think a major reason for the cash in complaints are a combination of "It wasn't the guy I wanted to win!" + "And they waste that immediately!!!" Making it seem, for them, far worse.
You can not please everyone.
Look at all the fans begging for long term storylines. Then there was backlash for the bloodline storyline going on for too long.

Drew getting screwed by the same man over and over again without getting any retribution, is honestly boring and old. I'm all for a long-term storyline as long as it has great storytelling and most importantly good booking. This is just not good booking and it's killing everyone in it.
Punk looks like a whiny sniveling heel and it's making McIntyre look like the wronged Babyface when it should be the opposite.
Rollins is an afterthought. He had a chance to deal with Punk when Punk came back earlier in the year but he didn't.

Wow....another year of wasted Men's MitB... they arent doing a very good job of silencing the people who say the briefcase has become useless in recent years and that the event should be done away with.
Also confirmation that LA Knight is never getting a main event push because this was probably the last chance for him, reasonably given his age, to get a sustained push with any length to it.
It wasn't wasted even of one these guy wins it they going to lose it anyway against Gunther and Cody
LA Knight was never going anywhere. He's not that good in the ring and, while above average on the mic, is still overrated. WWE have featured him more prominently because of his popularity, but they definitely never had any attention of actually pushing the guy.

Must be in the minority but really didn't mind Drew winning and the cash-in. The other guys in the match either don't need it or aren't liking to be ready within a year IMO. As far as the cash in, it was predictable but I did hate it. If anything it's refreshing to have a year without having a men's cash-in looming after Priest had it for 9-10 months. The only thing that's worrying is that the punk/drew stuff bc thus this definitely didn't top Clash at the Castle and is starting to feel like it's spinning it's wheels amd needs that blowoff, hopefully in Hell in a Cell.
I thought ot made perfect sense, the execution was botched, pretty sure it was a missed music cue. Like Drews music was supposed to hit, distract the ref and allow Priest to kick out. He didn't forget, he was waiting for his cue. Plus they had been telegraphing it all throughout the match, Priest, Rollins and the ref were all scanning the entrance way throughout the match. Not to mention the announcers talked like they were on borrowed time and had to get this match over with quickly. I think if that music cue had hit properly the whole thing would have gone over more smoothly. But then again, the IWC is about as toxic as possible, they thrive on negativity and complaining, so I wouldn't take their constant mewling as anything significant. Punk and Drew's injuries have definitely stretched this fued out, but it was white hot a week ago, and I imagine they'll heat it up in order to make up for the MitB mistep.

I don't see how it's a waste. He wasn't going to get the belt under any circumstances, and no one else in the match was either. None of those people in that ring will hold a heavy weight or World title in the next two years, except for maybe Drew, and Jay may get the Heavy weight title next year after Gunther has a run with it

@@Adum ANd hten, people would at some point have started to complain "Why did Chad waste hte briefcase on the midcard title?!" Especially if, before that, the World champ, or WWE champ, has been laid out.
ALso: it removes the MITB briefcase from the equation for the coming year, keeping that sword of damocles away from ongoing stories. No "Why isn't he cashing in now?!" etc.

After all this sacrifice, the match between drew and punk has to be a home run. If thats the case, then they did everything right but if its not the case then this will be amongst the worst Cash Ins ever.
I just hope they finish that story in 2024. The Bloodline is the best example for a storyline that started hot but after WM 39 and WM 40 they had the chance to finish it but didnt. And now its still in the main event of a PPV and im so sick of it
