Learned something new with that 1x2 sticking up. You are genius! It is really standing out for a Beaver to investigate. Thank you for sharing. God Bless.
Mr. Florin Thank you so very much for these informative videos. I learned to trap beaver n otter from you. Thank you so much. I have such a good time outdoors and really have an unlimited supply because nobody...NOBODY here traps beaver around me. It's really opened some doors for me to meet landowners and spend quality time with my kids when they want to join me...Thank you sir
When I was a kid (90s and early 2000s for reference) I used to go trapping with my grandfather. This video brought back a lot of great memories and I was surprised at just how close your method was to his.
Nice seeing your guys at the Maine Trapping Expo. When I saw the booth I was Hey! I know that name from my research. Nice to see you this far from home. Hope they had a nice time here.
I dont trap often as I would like, especially beaver. Im still in beginner stage. Nice video. Continue to make more, regardless of the idiots posting STUPID comments.
A Duke 1.5 isn't too small for beaver if you know how to use them. I've caught and held securely, large beaver, adult otter and big tom bobcats in Duke #1.5 coil spring traps. The only thing in my area that I wouldn't use a #1.5 on is coyote. The trap is big enough for a good catch just not strong enough to consistently hold them.
i have also seen muskrat on same property, i walked up behind one sitting on edge of ice in creek. Winter coat, first muskrat I ever saw close up, now I know why their pelt is valuble, thick ,full and shining like it was oiled.
now i just gotta show my uncle. he has a whole damn family behind him house. them little things been eatin his crops and its destroying his forest habitat. any more vids u guys would recommend?
I set up on existing castor mounds for Beavers, but sometimes catch Otters. I wonder if there is any way of detering Otters without spooking the Beavers?
@FlorinTrapping How did you get started in the trapping business? I want to be a trapper but In dont know where to start. Also, do you have to travel far to get all those beavers? I cant imagine that you can catch 7 beavers or more a day. Dont they run out?
Where do you guys go me and my dad are taking trapping classes in two months and we are from the Madison area I'd love to meet you and take any advice you have
@FlorinTrapping How do we make sure the Beaver doesn't trip the foot traps with their belly? How far to the left/right of the castor mound in inches do we need to place the traps to get them right?
@FlorinTrapping What do you think about Duke #5's? or better to stick to Sleepy creek 4.5 's? How many inches back from the castor mound should the foot traps be? looks to me about 12" on the left and 8"-10" on the right. is that right?
ive never had a problem wit anything pulling out of offset jaws. especially as big as a beavers foot is, i dont trap beaver but there aint no way youd wanna keep it if it could pull out of an 1/8 in. offset.
I'm not a anti hunter or anything, I hunt and I love it, but are beavers extremely common in you area, I am simply asking because as many beavers and you trapped in one day is more then I have seen around where I live for a month, Just wondering.
the guy i trap on his land has high end bird dogs go down the strips of grass while guys hunt his land and he doesnt want the dogs caught so i worked around that and have caught some good sized beavers in smaller traps i have used #11 double longs and caught beavers so dont let people say it cant be done you just have to be more on target and go for front foot catches
i wouldnt say a duke 1.5 is to small as i have caught 40# beavers in them without much problem i also run a swivel midway down my chain and one at the end besides the one on the trap and you have to set the trap closer to the bank like you would for muskrats but in just a hair deeper water then rats i will say run the drowner tight and id go with an 1/8 in drowner for beaver. it will take some practice but it can be done i had to learn to do it as one land owner wants smaller traps used
Chase Dillon to who and to what in that remote area? logging industry? Who has been there in the first place? beavers or people who think they rule the world?
Nah. Way certain people can be disappoints me when others have different opinions on whats right and wrong and especially looking at others who admire them makes me question them as well (:
With a rifle you ruin the fur and dont get any money for it also in most states its illegal to shoot beavers. But yes it would be easier not anywhere near as fun as trapping though
Sometimes those little buggers are hard to shoot. It's easier to put a few traps over night and if you do it right the probability of getting a kill goes up.
When I set traps I dont have to sit around and wait for the animal to come to me. I can be home drinking coffee when he decides to come out. Then when I come back, at my leisure, bang he is in the trap...
Learned something new with that 1x2 sticking up. You are genius! It is really standing out for a Beaver to investigate. Thank you for sharing. God Bless.
We should really admire this man's work, trappers are a dying breed. They don't make real men like they used to anymore.

Is he still around or ..... I have a feeling he passed but I don't want to spread false info
for sure one of the best beaver trapping youtube clips.. very well explained in a profesinal matter .. good job
Great video. Was glad to see you guys set up at the Kansas convention. Hope to see you there again next year.
Nice seeing your guys at the Maine Trapping Expo. When I saw the booth I was Hey! I know that name from my research. Nice to see you this far from home. Hope they had a nice time here.

Awesome. Following your info I used two duke 330 and a curiosity lure got two beavers on the first try.
Really great ideas, thank you so much!
I thought Tom florin was gone. Good to see him around again.
Great video thanks for posting it, I will be trying that post set next week when I start beaver trapping for the season.
That's a good days work right there! Thanks for sharing these videos.
hey i enjoy your videos a lot and i wish you would make some more cause i learned a lot from your videos
Nice vid. Very informative!
thanks for the tips. got a terrible beaver problem here in Vt and need to get rid of them!
Well done ! Good luck on catching !
looks like fun playing in the water while setting traps. We freeze up before the beaver season opens.

Amazing stuff!!! Great teacher!! Thanks Tom....you're the best!!
natserog
Good no nonsense informative information thank-you
And why do you catch beavers? For meat or to keep them from damaging things?
this guy is bad ass! wow its just amazing the technique and details!
Excellent video! Thanks!
Holy Cow!! That's a bunch of Beavers!
Very informative video!!!!
Great video. Thank you sir. Headed to the website now.
how long have you been traping I trap and I'm still learning I'm not that new but I'm not a pro
so he takes the little sticks that guide the beaver out of the centre of the trap always?
i have also seen muskrat on same property, i walked up behind one sitting on edge of ice in creek. Winter coat, first muskrat I ever saw close up, now I know why their pelt is valuble, thick ,full and shining like it was oiled.
i love your movies!
now i just gotta show my uncle. he has a whole damn family behind him house. them little things been eatin his crops and its destroying his forest habitat. any more vids u guys would recommend?
Beautiful video buddy 5*****Stars i love all of your video..
Great videos but slow down on catching them because they won't be able to reproduce lol
I set up on existing castor mounds for Beavers, but sometimes catch Otters. I wonder if there is any way of detering Otters without spooking the Beavers?
Do you eat the beaver? Seriously. If so, how do you like to prepare it? Great vids mate, thanks for sharing your skills.
You mentioned a few times that your anchored in deep water, are you using drowning rigs or just relying on the trap to drown them
You have any up to date video.
great video!
Would a duke #1.5 be too light in catching a beaver. It would be used in a drowning rig it that helps answer. Thanks in advance.
Do those sleepy creeks come night latched or do you have to get a paws pan for it?
Are those sleepy creeks factor night latched or was this a modification you made. Im using bridger #5's but would like to try the long springs
@FlorinTrapping Ok thank you very much
its just when a beaver gets caught it will try to ring out and offset makes that alot easier i love offset for fox and coyote
@FlorinTrapping How did you get started in the trapping business? I want to be a trapper but In dont know where to start.
Also, do you have to travel far to get all those beavers? I cant imagine that you can catch 7 beavers or more a day. Dont they run out?
seen all you videos, met you and ben in person, love that you are from wisconsin! What do you stake with and when do you double stake, if you do?
are mink common in the state you trap in and if so when can you take them
What part of MO do you trap in. we trap in Tebbets. We don't have to much luck with beaver and otter. what would you recommend? Thanks!
Where do you guys go me and my dad are taking trapping classes in two months and we are from the Madison area I'd love to meet you and take any advice you have
Great video, thanks
Have you ever tried it with just piling up mud?
What do you use for a dead man or for drowning
Where would the best place to set a snare for a beaver?
@FlorinTrapping Looked all over your site for "The Sleeper" cant find it.
Agreed wholeheartedly.
Would drowners be attached to the traps in the first set?
@FlorinTrapping
How do we make sure the Beaver doesn't trip the foot traps with their belly?
How far to the left/right of the castor mound in inches do we need to place the traps to get them right?
Depends on if you're trying for a front foot catch or back foot catch.
Earned another sub
@FlorinTrapping How is it being staked?
Is stability the purpose for long springs? Also are you expecting the beaver to be alive ...did I miss dround set
Long springs vs coil springs is just personal preference.
@FlorinTrapping
What do you think about Duke #5's?
or better to stick to Sleepy creek 4.5 's?
How many inches back from the castor mound should the foot traps be?
looks to me about 12" on the left and 8"-10" on the right.
is that right?
Either distance is good Duke#5's are good but so are the sleepy Creek.
ive never had a problem wit anything pulling out of offset jaws. especially as big as a beavers foot is, i dont trap beaver but there aint no way youd wanna keep it if it could pull out of an 1/8 in. offset.
what do you use or how do you anchor your traps?
have u ever got your hand or foot busted in one of those traps?
@beavertrapper330 nah. itll be ok. never had anything pull out in a offset, or wring out
Quick question, how did you secure the traps in this video?
Also whats the best way to kill a trapped animal without damaging the fur?
What kind of set do you recommend for a first year beaver trapper?
I'm not a anti hunter or anything, I hunt and I love it, but are beavers extremely common in you area, I am simply asking because as many beavers and you trapped in one day is more then I have seen around where I live for a month, Just wondering.
He traps all over the state so that's why he catches a lot of beaver.
what is the reason of pilling up the mud on the bank there.
To make a caster mound.
Do you guys buy fur?
the guy i trap on his land has high end bird dogs go down the strips of grass while guys hunt his land and he doesnt want the dogs caught so i worked around that and have caught some good sized beavers in smaller traps i have used #11 double longs and caught beavers so dont let people say it cant be done you just have to be more on target and go for front foot catches
Where are you trapping in Missouri?????
am i aloud to own was as a pet?
i wouldnt say a duke 1.5 is to small as i have caught 40# beavers in them without much problem i also run a swivel midway down my chain and one at the end besides the one on the trap and you have to set the trap closer to the bank like you would for muskrats but in just a hair deeper water then rats i will say run the drowner tight and id go with an 1/8 in drowner for beaver. it will take some practice but it can be done i had to learn to do it as one land owner wants smaller traps used
I'm just curious. Why do you trap beavers. Is there a market for their fur or castorum or is it just for the heck of it.
They cause a ton of damage
Chase Dillon to who and to what in that remote area? logging industry? Who has been there in the first place? beavers or people who think they rule the world?
The beavers build damns the damns overflow the surronding area causeing property loss.

Is a 280 big enough for beavers?
yes, but check your state/ province trapping laws to see what they have approved for legal trapping.
No it's not. Our Beaver permit was unlimited amounts by any means.
good info
a duke 1.5 is too small a duke #3 will work fine
Nah. Way certain people can be disappoints me when others have different opinions on whats right and wrong and especially looking at others who admire them makes me question them as well (:
Never knew someone who is apathetic can be admiring.
not on water critters bud
Damn beavers!
explain
Tom,Are you romanian ?...at your origins ...
well, you keep on insisting to stay. So I guess you like Tom Florins ways.
my dog almost Die . sorry i dont like beavers
elaborate or articulate your rationale
If any thing this whole thing about trapping beavers is a negative vibe itself
I like the videos, but I noticed he does not answer any legitimate questions
What's your problem man? why you bringing negative vibes here?
kindly move on
Why waist your time setting tedious traps when a rifle with a scope is all you really need? I don't get it....
My little sister hacked my account and wrote that comment
Can you eat Beaver?
they like to be licked gently at the start to a0ply preasure
More like you keep bothering me
LOL nah that's probably the least thing that can happen to me gg.
them sure are some dead beavers
