    Low carb, Low protein/BCAA Restricted (3-8% protein) Extreme High Fat Targeted keto (85%+ Fat, PUFA Free, MUFA Restricted, SFA and Stearic Acid Based) and Theaflavins combined with Lipo quercetin as Senolytics is my go to, i still even get to enjoy carbs from time to time. -Targeted Keto Low Protein/BCAA Restricted uphill sprinter

    It is hard to see a downside to calorie dilution. Combine that with including a variety of different fiber sources and selecting the nutrients you need most for your particular situation and you have a winning recipe.

    The Good news Vince are your retirement start!
    Now it’s really time for more exercise (strength, cardio etc) and of course for more healthy nutrient dense diet!
    As a Ph.educator I agree about this position- conclusion of Thomas!

    I'm pretty sold on protein restriction as the true driver behind calorie restrictions tbf, specifically certain amino acids: leucine, methionine etc.

    • @jefflittle8913
      @jefflittle8913 2 месяца назад +1

      There is really no doubt that if you want rats to live a long time you should restrict their methionine.

      ALL BCAAs seem to be a huge problem beyond 8 grams, and excess glycine/protein beyond 5-8% calories also still seems to cause weight loss stalls in overweight human and obese rat models even though it also helps in BCAA catabolism. -Targeted Keto Low protein/BCAA Restricted uphill sprinter

    Hmm, if I've understood this correctly, I think calorie dilution is the basis of the Slimming World weight loss plan, which doesn't do strict calorie counting but relies on knowledge of low calorie foods to keep calorie consumption low. I agree that calorie dilution doesn't guarantee weight loss but I think it's a more realistic approach to keeping weight low long term as a lifestyle and therefore maintaining longevity. I started calorie counting at age fifteen and I believe it's been a major contributor to disordered and binge eating issues throughout my life because I became overly focused on food choices. My weight has only gone up with a rebound from every strict 'diet' with calorie tracking because it left me obsessing over every calorie, sometimes going to bed hungry and feeling so restricted. And I don't have the restraint to have just the one biscuit with my brew. I came off a fast on Sunday and ate non stop for two days, defeating the object of the fast and I only started to normalize today because I wasn't thinking about and waiting for food. I think calorie dilution enables people to keep their weight low enough that they might not need to drop calories by tracking because they're already maintaining their health and weight. I get that not everyone will have a negative response to calorie tracking but for me, I've been able to maintain a calorie deficit for much longer time periods when I've had more food freedom. As soon as I start tracking it's like someone has flicked a switch in my brain so I feel like I'm always waiting to binge, waiting for it to be over. So now I'm actively doing calorie dilution because for me it's the only approach that works. I also have a friend who is the same height with the same petite bone structure as me, but she's never done a diet in her life, always ready to enjoy a custard cream when it's on offer, but she lives a low calorie lifestyle, filling up on veggies, keeping foods low fat, skipping the heavy carbs most days but enjoying pasta when she likes, and she's half the size of me which I believe is mostly down to avoiding the post restriction over indulgence! So I've stocked up on loads of low calorie foods that I enjoy because I believe the best approach is the one you can stick to. I have a rough idea of my daily calories, sticking to Slimming World guidelines, measuring for portion control etc but I'm hoping my days of strict tracking are over for good.

      Hi Connie, I think the statement made by Thomas that I couldn't really process was that that the foods need to be low in calories, but high in nutrient density. This has to severely restrict your mela options.
      I was much the same as you, but now I have gone to OMAD, pretty much 5 days a week it is much easier to feel full drinking black coffee and green tea throughout the day, and as I don't eat until 6pm, with bed at 9:30 to 10:00, there's not much time to binge.

      @@MyLongevityExperiment ok I see your point about the nutrient density issue. I assumed DeLaur was talking about making small swaps like eating spaghetti courgetti rather than actual spaghetti, or swapping a full fat mayo full of seed oils for a homemade vinegarette etc. I really like making my own substitute spaghetti from white cabbage strips nowadays which I fry with barely any oil and eat with a homemade spag bol sauce (sip and feast is a fantastic channel for recipes but it's not for slimmers. I adapt everything!). Another example would be swapping endless rounds of buttered toast which can become mindless over eating for an apple or an orange if I'm hungry. Ok you might miss out on natural fats in full fat foods but you can still eat oily fish and seafood and supplement omega 3. I also have a big bowl of homemade coleslaw on hand to bulk up my meals, so I'm actually eating much more veggies than before. That's how I see calorie dilution. I'd say my diet is more nutrient dense now it's calorie diluted because it has less empty calories. That's my take on it anyhow.
      And didn't DeLauer used to be obese? The flip side of being a compulsive over eater can be that you become a compulsive food obsessive health nut unable to let go of extremes, always fixated on food one way or another. I have that issue. I think it comes down to your goals and your own personal weak spots around food. It sounds like you've found a system that works for you that has the health benefit of keeping your weight in range. Although getting enough protein on OMAD always concerned me. I'm still on the struggle bus so time will tell if calorie dilution works for me.

    I saw Thomas’ video. One of the more messy ones. Covered a bit of everything, leaving a confusing impression. What was his point? Did he agree that calorie restriction => longevity?
    Was he offering a way to achieve calorie restriction “pain free” ?? (Or what was it all about)

      He has to record a video every day, it's obvious he doesn't do enough prep. And his team have to research and produce a script every day, sometimes it is quantity over quality.
