- What makes conspiracy theories so appealing? Why don’t humans always use wealth and technology in ways that benefit humanity? And why is the ‘New Right’ turning on conservative traditions?
Watch MSNBC’s Ari Melber speaking with ‘Sapiens’ author Yuval Noah Harari about a huge array of topics in this extensive conversation, including: recent AI developments, global political trends, how history is written and interpreted, storytelling and ‘fictions’ as a force in society, the existence and meaning of God, the enduring impact of America’s ‘founding fathers’, Harari’s views of his own intellectual reach and criticism of his ideas. Recorded for MSNBC on November 14th, 2023.
I so much appreciate the tone of the dialogue. This was a coversation.
Yeah, refreshing and informative.
"History is not about remembering the past, it's about liberating ourselves from it."
What impressed me about Mr. Harari is his ability to keep his clarity of observation and not allow the thought process be corrupted by the information he consumes.
He always manages to stay grounded in basic humanity.
Agree. We need as many people like Yuval as possible now - those who can rise above the polarization and are committed to seeking truth, clarity, etc
Ya he’s a great humanitarian this world needs more Noah’s this guy has the answers to everything he’s so smart - I’d follow him for sure.
He is really fantastic, he has showed me the world and life in such a richest manner❤❤❤❤❤
Harari, you are the best!!
So healthy. As an historian I’m grateful for his reach into our future🩷👏🏽
Yuval is a breath of fresh air. A role model. Ari is a very capable interviewer, and he gives us a chance to see the corporate news world intersect with a humble, yet commanding, public intellectual.
Love it. Thank you Ari for having invited him.
I can’t recall where I heard this: we have prehistoric brains, medieval institutions, and god like technology. This is our dilemna.
Well said
Great quote, thank you for sharing. Definitely a Trilemma!
you will be sacrificed to bring about their Ai God@@cronix1
Soul is the subtle body which inhabits every sentient being. Humans have the widest individual evolutionary variance within species. In the circumstances of existence, in capacities and inclinations, in personality and destiny. In Indian philosophical traditions including Buddhism, the subtle body could just as well be involuted into one of a lower species.
The Origins of Creativity, chap. 9 "Bedrock". Liveright Publishing, 2017
Therein lies the dilemma of the humanities. They, and with them a large part of liberal education, are expected to describe and explain the essence of a social world of Paleolithic emotions, mediaeval institutions, and godlike technology with no clear idea of meaning or purpose.
This man is out of this world!!

I love Yuval. His formidable intellect is met with equal measures of kindness and compassion.
You know that he considers you an animal which can be hacked, right?

“History is not the study of the past, it is the study of change.” What a profound statement. As a History buff myself, I can understand it.
breath!! I love him!
I didn’t realize this show has deeply intellectual discussions. Wow on MSNBC!
Somebody please tell this guy Ari to stop interrupting the interlocutor when he’s answering his very question . Thanks .
- he has to in case the guys mentions you-know-what.....
I don’t know what…what?

Absolutely the best hour I have ever spent. I have read all of Yuval's books and have introduced my children to them as well. Yuval is an incredible thinker, and we are fortunate to have him in our world.
When is FOX interviewing him?
Sorry you are very wrong, teaming up with the devil
@@samsonarchiekil7340
Idiot.
P.s
Very interesting, woke my brain up this morning.
Wow…Ari delivers one of the best interviews of Yuval Harrari that I have ever seen! Thanks!
So good I watched it twice.
Me too! Using for a research paper
incredible man. history in a making
Loved this discussion: Harari's singular intellectual breadth and depth, Ari's warmth, intelligence and manner.
Good review! Exactly right!
Ari is a great and warm interviewer. Harari, what more can I say? Pure genius!
Agree. Nice to see people finally realizing their childish religious beliefs are wrong.@@olalekanajiteru1361
The interviewer?
Half the time he hear him scrolling through his pages looking for his next question instead of listening.
Wow. You like being called obsolete as a human?
Thank you Yuval for the interesting discussion. I had a great time as usual.
What a great thinker! And in addition a likeable humanitarian!
Thanx 😊
Humanitarian? How so?
@@user-uy8iy5nh1j Why not?
See what he says at WEF, he thinks humanity has no purpose, he's a liar!! Learn who your listening to before you let demonic people influence your thoughts. Wake up people
@@amandamcleam9031 My impression is different from yours. I read some of his books and listened to some interviews. So far I can not share your opinion about him. Why do you think he's a liar or demonic?
Two brilliant humans talking!
I wish this were 5 hours long.
What is "brilliant" about the interviewer? Can you give an example of something brilliant he said in this video?
Excellent! Thank you Yuval and Ari.
So glad Yurval mentioned breath and body awareness as the most important things, a nod to his Vipassana meditation practice.
Was just thinking to myself i have never seen this version of a Yuval interview and i consume a lot of them😅. Totally brilliant from two grounded thinkers.
Thank you Mr. Harari, Mr. Melber and supporters for this discussion. ✨🙏✨ Kindly, Dennis
It would be perfect if the interviewer didn't interrupt so much. Do they really listen? 🤔
When Harari speaks, others should listen…
Very nice and interesting. ❤
Few people I’m glad exists in this world for the better of humanity and this man is one of them.
Sam Harris is another one, missing Mr. Christophen Hitchens greatly.
No he's not, he's buddies with Klaus Schwabb and has a sick mind. He thinks humanity has no importance, wants to insert tracking chips, health and thought chips. He is not on the side of freedom or humans . Better listen to what he spews at the WEF meetings. He 8s part of the problem . Not much of a Jew either from what I'm hearing here
Yuval Harari you have done a great job. Keep doing a great contribution to mankind.
A fascinating interview... Really enjoyed... Thanks a ton!
As a Jew who has been questioning the existence of God lately, I am fascinated by the diverse religious communities in India. I hope you don’t mind me presuming your background. I have so much to learn about the Hindu, Sikh & Jain religions.
My father's favourite maxim You have to move with the times. Makes sense it shows a progress happening. It doesn't necessarily mean tear the whole thing down
There are the means available for positive change but all people are rquired to engage to make it happen.
Great guest and great interview 🌊🏄♂️🪷
Thanks for explanation and this great interview 👍🏼
History is not about past, Harari said in this interview, but is about change. As long as nobody changes what really happened in the past, which is predominant in the present.
Listen to this guy. He is right.
Love hearing this brilliant man speak, Professor Yuval Noah Harari.
You Trust This Guy ?
Such a wise and humble man! A rare species. ❤
And cute and lovely
Mr Harari , thank you for being you . Amazing .
Investigate his thoughts before you listen to him. See what he says at WEF, he hates humanity
@@amandamcleam9031 I did . For quite some time . And I like him . I hate some humanity too don’t you ? Chill . This planet is not LA LA land .
Excellent program
Good job getting into mainstream media! This world needs your voice as loud as possible!
I did my best but I could never disagree with Yuval so far...
Yes to liberate from the past..
Fascinating person Noah.. and a beautiful mind.
I am seriously thinking of appointing you as my personal GOD 😀.
I consider myself lucky to exist in the same time as you.
Thank you for the enlightenment you brought to this world 🌹🌹.
Much love
Ed
Outstanding. Thank you Ari
Yuval is someone to emulate for his humility while having so much knowledge.
Watch WEF , this man is part of the crazies trying to reset into authoritarianism. See how he hates humanity...be careful what you let into your mind and heart. He is buddies with Klaus Schwabb, the antichrist
Yuval Noah Harari is the gift for humanity...
⭕♾️
A truly gifted well-rounded man. Pleasure to hear, him speak! the interviewer, hmmm
Yes, I noticed that too. Humph!😮
Two of my favorite people. Thank you. I learn so much from Yuval.
Tho I have liked Melber in the past, I really had the feeling he was trying to get a "gotcha!" response from Harari, but Harari is too smart, humble and honest to respond and just tried to answer the questions.
More people need to hear this sort of exchange, nurturing CRITICAL THINKING skills!
Your wrong, this man is a buddy to Klaus Schwabb. He is pro an authoritarian world government. Watch him at WEF gatherings
Great interview👍thank you very much!!
Amazing, can never have enough of this smart guy. Down to earth, yet profound. Keep on sharing with us. You do have a shelf life
A brilliant guy - MUCH more considering what's happening since Black Shabbat.
I love this man, Yuval Noah Harari. He is here for just such a time as this. So is Ari Melber. Thank you, Ari, for allowing your hair to silver like mine, one day at a time. It would have been tempting to blacken it for the rest of your life. Whoever asked AI to write a brief letter to Yuval Noah Harari must certainly have been asked to express itself with a "sassy tone" and probably other specifics were also given it.
Excellent interview. Loved the questions Ari. Yuval looks at issue from various angles. His comprehensive analysis is always top notch.
Great conversation, great questions and great answers.
Ari is a child.
This guy is poetic. His opening answer about history is spot on
WOW Harari is so articulate and bright. I love watching him. Why can't we come up with some leaders like him?
We must endeavor to become our best version of ourselves.
Thought-provoking interview. Thank you.
Wonderful interview. Please invite people like this more often. Let’s talk about uplifting ideas, factual, scientific historical patterns.
I’m so tired of listening to anything that refers to Trump. He is again getting a lot of free publicity.
Talk more about what is working. Let’s focus on positive efforts. Biden policy that is helping people & changing lives for the better!
A postmodern view of religion acknowledges that religion has nothing to do with scientific fact. It is rather a cumulative cultural product of people. But people are the receivers of a religious tradition that gives us cultural, moral, and ethical orientation in our lives. The problems with religion in our contemporary society happen when people equate religion in the same level with science and fact. Religion then becomes fundamentalist, literal, and highly destructive to its followers and others.
A brilliant man not crushed by the weight of notoriety and who is capable of translating scientific endeavors into a language of high emotional content and value in order to reach people less scientifically inclined. And he has a good sense of humor which Ari was pleased to bring into the light.
He is a profesed Satanist
Thanks noah hariri
Dr harari you are great historian in present cenario its my great pleasure to listen you .
Good point on the critical reviews , as if every reader has a phd
Two diamond_hard intellects delivering conversation at the highest level of broadcast media, such a service to their listeners. I could not see a single logical nor linguistic flaw. And so I continue to enjoy the entire clip. My sincere thanks to you both.
You mean 2 fascist Zionist Jews who, if aren't found guilty of genocide, will be guilty of ethnic cleansing
All except that Ari deferes to the miss use of words keeping in support of the twisting of words to create and maintain ignorance amongst the populace
it will be interesting to get your take on South Africa's genocide case against Israel.
To be a contributing member of an organization, one cannot be too critical of themselves or others. Be a builder, not a critic ❤ 36:39
Good conversation 👍
Great interview; much cleaver questions & and much inspiring answers
love all his books!!!
I'm gonna order all of four of those books.
That was an excellent interview! Thank you!
Just beautiful!
Yuval who successfully confused me, after reading some of his books became one of his blind admirers, I considered him a humanitarian.
It made me totally speechless when I found him as a great supporter of ongoing GAZA genocides.
Since you are much more simple than him, you must live with the possibility that you can't understand him. He may have more facets than your available sensors can grasp. Not that he's a god either, and I am not his fan.
That was very interesting, as usual with Harari. Thank you
Knowledge supports growth... Very informative.
Being accused of being a Yuval Noah Harari type, I thought meant just being jewish related.
This interview brings a whole new meaning to me of Yuval, of which I had no idea.
I should have said yes, absolutely yes.
And thanks for the compliment.
thanks !!
The stories that humans create are not always benign and without bad consequences. So we must chose those stories that have positive consequences.
This is a different interview! Great job. Thanks
"God is people" - told me my Catholic priest some 60 years ago. He was so right.
Great interview and LOVE the kids book!
Well run interview. Good preparation and questions, leaving plenty of time for answers.
Good job interviewing Yuval, Ari! Thanks!
Every time I listen to Jarai Yuval I am amazed at his unique and spot on ideas. I'm 70 and I've never had such clear understandings of how the evolution of societies and their ideas manifest in our world.
I'm not previously seen Ari in this sort of interview and I am duly impressed and appreciative
this was an awesome and fun interview. great interviewer and great interviewee
Yuval brilliantly frames human history and the implications of our decisions that we are experiencing today. His prediction on the exploding "useless class" are coming to life in our cities across the country.
Grat interview!
Lovely conversation, thank you.❤
🕊️🌿✝️🕊️🌿 Thank You Jesus for Your judgements.✝️
Just pure common sense, real intellectual, fantastic interview
I love listening to Yuval. The depth and sheer novelty of his thought is immense and powerful. However, when it comes to AI, from my own personal perspective, I think he gives it way too much credit. Not only is AI not conscious, it is not, at least as of this writing, intelligent. This subject is admittedly a rabbit hole so, briefly, I think Yuval would benefit greatly from pursuing the full spectrum of opinions about AI.
I guess it would depend on how one defines "intelligence". AI could be considered "intelligent", but definitely not conscious or sentient.
No consciousness at all, but a simulation of intelligence. Still valuable...things could change radically in the next 5, 10, 20 years.
i must say though that it is pretty frustrating sometimes
i love this man
@gentleman thank you for this great conversation. Super interesting.
Excellent Explainations from Y N Harari IMHO outstanding interview. History as change rather than traditional folky story approah we learn as kids is refreshing. And more workable approah for our times and challwnges. Brillant insight. Big Thank You for that. Small point from me. The distinction on the different perspective of what is " soul" for jews and catholics LOL Remember ~ recall it was Telliard De Chardin who posited that maybe even rocks had a primative soul or spirit nature. In this perspective of course what evolved latter also known as plants and anaimals etc also have an intangible soul nature as well. Chardin career as respected geologist is accepted As respected Jesuit Thelogian very much less respected and accepted (especially in Catholic church of the 20th century) Yeah the history or fictions we invent for ourselves can be improved I agree.
