Yes, the Parker 51 is one of the all-time classics in the fountain pen world. Used by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as her pen of choice. My late father owned one with black barrel and metal cap. It was bought for him by his mother when he was at school. The pen has been passed to me and I assume it must be a fairly early version. Your lovely teal version for only £10 is an amazing bargain especially as it is in full working order. The condition looks excellent. Definitely an amazing find.

The Prince of Pens and the most sought after one in pen history.

Thanks for the review,Mr. Santiago! I was lucky enough to find a 60's vintage Parker 51 Special(alloy nib) in great condition along with a Sheaffer's Touchdown(not sure of the model name) with a gorgeous inlaid 14k nib at a junk/antique store and paid $50 for both pens. For $10 or so you got a great deal on your 51! 14k nib is worth more than that imho.
My 51 is made in USA;unlike your pen mine does not have the hole in the end of the barrel.
Recently got a HERO 616S that has the StarTrek-looking emblem on the section to help with nib orientation. It was a little under $10 delivered. I got the all black version. This is a lacquered metal pen but not heavy at all. Very nicely done.
I love my HERO pens;especially the 565(of which I have a total of 6 of them.) 🤓 I always have at least one 565 inked for ANY writing or doodling I NEED to do. Absolutely dependable writer that is generous with ink and smooth. When I bought the 565 pens they were about $5 each. They also have a bit more girth than most Chines pens of this style. And have an inlaid metal piece on the section for nib orientation.
Rally forth and all that rot,old bean!

It breaks my heart to see this as I had one and it just fell on the floor nose down, broke the nib. It actually drives into the wood floor and boke the nib. I still have the Stilo pen that came with the fountain pen, but somehow lost the Foutain pen. I'm now saving some for the new 51. I just love the feel of this pen, and the nib, it's just so beautiful the way it looks.

Oh no, what a shame! It's well worth looking out for a vintage 51. I believe the quality is far superior to the modern version. There's some good deals out there
