I took a testdrive in one. I love everything about this car exept the engine and gear ratio. I had a BMW 523i E39 at the time and was looking for a smaller car. Straight six and rear wheel drive was tempting. I read up on the car and was expecting alot from the little 2.0 VVT but it revved but never feelt like it had any push and MPG 20-25. Had a Nissan Maxima 2.0 V6 before. Its a much bigger car but the 136hp was much more alert and ready. But If i will tune a car one day its just asking for it. But someone at Lexus should have got fired for letting this engine spoil a car this great.
Jimmie Nilsson lexus didn't want the is200 to overshadow the gs300..so they deliberately made it underpowered. .but the in gear acceleration ..40-60..50-70..90-110..arc etc..puts more powerful cars to shame..and few cars will touch it on a twisty country road..that's way the fun is😂
Jimmie Nilsson The throttle won't open fully until its revving in second I recently found out. Also found out that it almost keeps up with a new mini in a straight line and absolutely destroys it in the corners.
is 200 have a version with supercharger about 180 something bhp they also have the is 250 2.5litre and also is 300 with the 3.0 litre so everyone can have one :)))

i owned one they are 6 speed manuals or come in i think a 4-5 speed auto, good fuel consumption big tanks, but it's a 6 cyl 2 litre so if ur in australia u gotta pay 6 cyl rego, kinda a bummer for less power than a typical 2litre 4 cyl
I have cca 12L/100Km in city but real minimum is cca 7-8L/100Km. (straight road) BMW 328i (e46) better consumption.... BMW 540 e39 (4.4L) have same fuel consumption :-D (ok 1L up...)
