100% agree...I avoid ferrari, lamborgini stuff as much as I can...Love a good bargain. The Lexus IS 200 2000 was my first Lexus...got it brand new, manual with sunroof (like this one)...loved it. Since then had 1999 RX, 2000 GS, 2005 GS, and now 2016 NX and just got 2020 IS300h F-sport+ a few days ago...Got it for the price of base 300h. All reviews say its lazy, but I love it...and actually fun to drive, and never miss any horsepower (much). Had my fair share of fairly powerful cars, like 91 928S4, and 2005 M3, so I know how that feels. Keep coming with these great bargain videos :) Best of luck from CZ..

I had one of these for almost ten years. Got it at 85k when it was ten years old, and racked it up to 167k with it barely skipping a beat. Never let me down, never left me stranded, and never failed and MOT while I owned it. Outside of regular maintenance it only needed a few bits here and there. Wonderful car, just juicy as hell to run and the tax was a killer.
Also, the funny part of this video is the wheels on it are stupidly rare and worth about five times as much as you paid for the car 😆

I've been driving for 10 years now, and this was my first car. Still got her, and she's going strong. She drives beautifully, looks great, is really comfortable, and has a nice little roar.
She was as good as new until about 2 years ago when 3 little scrotes decided I didn't need a cat, so they'd take it off my hands. She was vandalised and was off the road for 6-8 months, and I've had a few damp problems and electric problems (as a result of the scumbags) while getting her back on the road. Since she's been back on the road, I had to get the sills welded (rusty sills seams to be fairly common on these), and a pipe on the coolant system has burst. But other than that, she's almost back to her original self.
Honestly, if these cars are properly maintained and not vandalised, they'll probably run forever.

I absolutely adore the IS200, the last of the analogue old school obtainable driver’s cars sadly tarnished by the Alan Partridge factor. Provided you keep the dreaded tin worm at bay these are bomb proof, engaging solid cars even now some are knocking on the door of 25 years old. As this chap mentioned many of these have fallen into the hands of the roundabout drift masters who thrash and modify them to an inch of their lives so try and go for a solid example owned by a pensioner with plenty of history.

Had it 10 yrs. i have serviced it 86k-150k needed nothing but consumables. She had it as a student and loves it to death and will only go when it gives up. There is not a speck of rust on it. Still does 50 mpg on a run paid £1800 10yrs ago. Guess just lucky with that one. Keep up the fab work for “ ordinary car drivers”. Best reviewer on utube

I bought an ex demo IS300 Sportcross back in the early 2000’s, it sticks in my memory as one of the best cars I ever owned. 0 - 60 wasn’t particularly fast at 8.6 secs, but 0 - 30 it seemed to be able to beat anything off the line, particularly amusing when I had an M3 next to me at the lights! Only ever got around 24mpg out of it; changed it for a 320d Coupé which was quicker and did twice as many to the gallon. Never really liked the BMW though ...

I've been driving the is200 sport for nearly 14 years, hope to keep it for as long as possible. I haven't been tempted to buy anything else . If you ever listen to Terence McKenna, he calculated that the best car to buy was an old luxury car and to drive it forever. My car finished depreciating about 10 years ago, it's 19 years old now. The engine is perfect, only real maintenance is ball joints, calipers, the odd oxygen sensor. All electrics are working perfectly .

I totally dig channels like yours. You do it for fun and not begging for "likes" or "subs" like a fart-sniffer.
And the cars you decide are a gem! Would love to see a video where you review a Rover 75!!! Do a research fine sir. You get one for bargains and you get a lot of car with low budget!

How nice answering that quick. Thanks, Sir. Yeah, when it is a hobby and you do it for fun, the passion comes automatically. Also you have really nice cars. Loved the video of the Skoda Suberb, Jaguar XF and XJ for example. You get a lot of car for less money. People these days buy brand-new cars, just to sit on cheap seats and a lot of plastic elements in the interior. Try a Peugeot 607, Citroen C6 or a Rover 75 for example. Leather, cruise control, etc. Many gimmicks.
If you can, try a Rover 75, Sir. Of course a good one. You will laugh, what you get for a grand or 2.

Crypto Power I agree totally, I think You Tube was created for people with a hobby, but it seems now that it’s being used to make a living, I don’t like it when people say “Don’t forget to subscribe” like as if I have to, and people using legal means to beg, that puts me off.
But High Peak autos, I like your informative videos..keep up the good work.

I'm thinking about buying an IS200 currently but they are a lot more popular than a few years ago. Manual ones seem to be rare and quite expensive now as the moddy drifty crowd are into them. What do you think of the automatic transmission version on these? I've seen it's a 4 speed manual and it also means the car comes with cruise control (unlike on manuals) which is a bonus. Ive never had an auto car before but I'm seriously considering it as there are a lot more out there and some 04 05 ones in decent nick for under 2k. Tempting! Just worried I wouldnt enjoy it so much compared to the 6 speed manual...

Say what you like about Alan Partridge he had good taste in cars! :) I have a green SportCross, cream leather, 3litre engine, it had a little rust patching, apart from that I cant find much wrong with it. Well-serviced and clearly loved by its former owners. Superb car. I enjoy the relaxing automatic mode, and switching to the fun PS4-esque button shift mode for more spirited driving.

Your dead right about the youtubers. I want to watch views on cars I'm able to buy, or ones I grew up with. It's the reason why I tend to only watch ones like yourself, car throttle and regular cars and car wow and car buyer for new cars.

I had one back in the day as a demo in a kind of BRG metallic. I liked the car very much but they do like a drink. They can be a little bit difficult to handle in the wet and unpredictable. But in the dry they stick to the road like glue.

Have had one for last seven years (2004 model) - bought for 3k! - just the greatest car, nippy in town and holds its own on the motorway - breaking my heart to part with it but handbrake cable has snapped amongst other things and my mechanic says it will cost me too much to get though forthcoming MOT. Stumbled upon your reviews and love them - on your advice considering an IS250 or an IS300h now. Keep up the good work!

@@HighPeakAutos I wanted to get an IS300h but they're just a bit out of my price range at the mo and not many so prices are actually going up by the week!! I wondered what you thought about an Infiniti m 3.5 gt premium 4dr instead which is cheaper and has a full service history? I feel like i really should get a hybrid cos mostly driving round town in London. It's cos of your review i'm considering the Infiniti btw! My fall back alternative is an IS250 - its 2011 and over 112k on clock whereas the Infiniti is 2013 and a few k less mileage. What you reckon? Cheers in advance for any advice.

between 25-30mpg, road tax 314 quid as the climate change fairy rates it as a polluter, just bought one as a second car for longer runs, it needed 2 new tyres and tracking done which at a mates garage cost me 116 all in. Car has 85k miles on FSH with all mots from new proving the mileage of around 7k per year, cost me 1100 quid and I'm over the moon with it, next timing belt change will cost 169 quid as I'll diy and not for three years at least, built like a tank I can't fault it.

fornicateu2 that's a great buy , mine has 130,000 on it , it's never broken down and I've had it for 18 years. It's also a really nice comfortable cabin and everything still works. I get it serviced every year and to tell the truth I think it will outlast me.

As a subscriber for about 2 years (I think the first video I watched was your Love/Hate RR one) I thought I would watch from the start! Also, hopefully me watching these older vids will add a couple of extra pence to your RUclips income! Obviously the production quality has improved but your presentation style and sense of humour has remained…thank goodness. I was also interested in your comments in this video about the monotony of the super car RUclipsrs, not a lot has changed in 3 years, although they are now bolting massive turbos on them! Yawn. Many thanks for the content and long may it continue 👍

Nice video and review ;D Love the looks of these cars, I'm learning to drive atm but once I pass my test will be getting a 1.3 Honda Civic Hybrid (love the look of those 2 and very affordable with tax _ insurance which is expensive here) but here in Ireland you can get a car 20 years old or older and insure it as a classic car (must have another car for regular use though) so in a year or 2 I really hope to be able to get of these Lexus IS200 and do that or maybe a BMW :D

Amazing to think that when it was released in N. America, it was quite controversial styling wise. Those "Altezza" lights in particular, followed by wrist watch styled dials. I personally hated it, but now as the time passed by, I think it's quite nice.

The only real issue you do find is rust. I was offered one for free once but it required something like £2k of welding and so forth, which sadly at the time I didn’t have. Plus it did burn oil. So I decided to walk away. But it was a lovely car to drive.
