To anyone writing: „They were never really saved to begin with“ or „You can‘t lose what you truly had“ or something like this.
Please don‘t be so quick to judge, you can never know what a person feels/is going through, and this can hurt them even more.
Pray for them and be there for them.
Jesus didn‘t tell Thomas to leave because he had doubts. He lovingly confronted him and showed him proof.
So how do you justify your judgement if Jesus did the exact opposite?

      Matthias,
While the way some people have been commenting has not being loving at all, those statements themselves are true Biblical doctrines. Some call it "Once Saved Always Saved" and others "Perseverance of the Saints".
The Biblical bases for the doctrine that once you are saved, you can not be unsaved, are verses like: John 10:27-29, Romans 8:38-39, Ephesians 1:13-14, and 1 John 5:13.
The bases for the fact that those who leave the faith never truly believed in the first place (and also that there are those who profess to believe but in reality, don't): Matthew 7:21-23, Matthew 13, and most clearly stated in 1 John 2:19.
The issue is not with the doctrine, but with the commenters themselves. I agree with you, we need to remember that as Christians we are ambassadors for Christ, and need to share His Gospel truth in love.

Us Christian’s need to stop saying these types of things and when a person is doubting or deconstructing that a good time to really dive in deep on the faith with them on their questions and doubts and let the word of God speak for itself. If they fall away, that’s on them and their part of not acknowledging who God is. It’s sad but we still need to show them the love of the lord so that eventually they will come to truly know and love him.

_"People in hell are gnashing their teeth at God... they don't love him, they don't want to be in his presence"_
This doesn't make the doctrine of hell any less absurd. Most people who aren't Christian simply don't believe that the story is true. They don't hate God. They aren't gnashing their teeth at Him. They think of Jesus the same way most Christians think of Buddha. And yet, according to the story, they will end up in eternal torment because of that.

As a Christian who deconstructed, I can say that these points are true. There are real people who question their faith, and for those who just say "Well, you were never a believer to begin with" or "You just want to sin and not obey God" are wrapping these phrases and statements around them like security blankets to hide themselves from the truth -- that there are sincere people who converted, but did not and do not just mindlessly believe. They put their faith in what was said, what was written, and what was taught to them about Jesus, but when confronted with statements, points, or questions that run counter to their beliefs, they didn't just close their mind to it. For better or worse they grappled with it.
This is because they seek answers to their questions -- REAL answers. Not mindless answers such as the above, or simple dogmatic statements that do not address the underlying concern. These questions may cover a range of things. In my case, they were questions about specific passages of the Bible that on their face, do not contradict the core of Christianity (Christ's death and resurrection), but are enough to question the validity of the gospel accounts and the NT, especially on those passages.
So I tell you this as a bit of advice. If you want to reach these people. If you want to grow your church instead of just resigning yourself to going to a morning of empty pews and lamenting like Jeremiah that "they've turned their face from the Lord" and there's nothing you can do about it -- it's a sign of the times -- look at things the way they look at them. Put yourself in their shoes. Try to understand why they became this way.
And lastly, remember this. Peter, John, and Paul made those statements above in a time when Christians were being slaughtered for their beliefs; tortured and beaten brutally to death at the hands of the Romans. They put it all on the line. And to have people reject what they said, after risking their lives and livelihoods, to tell them their faith and trying to convert them, is the ultimate slap in the face to them. So naturally, their words of retribute are incredibly harsh in that context, and I for one don't blame them for their condemnation.
But this day is different. Much of the focus is in the U.S. where the discussions are more of a questioning and searching for the truth -- not a matter of survival where your life is at stake for the choices that you make concerning your faith. Keep in mind the context of those statements. Please keep them in mind.

As far as Christian speakers predicting dates of Jesus's return I never understood why they would do that because Jesus himself said noone knows the date except the Father

    • @mbfrommb3699
      @mbfrommb3699 3 года назад +5

Just to be clear you do know that you're taking the verse out of context completely and misusing it right?
Here is an excerpt from a series of comments I have left here.
Many believe that we can't know the time of Jesus's return, that we just need to be ready. Matthew 24:36
36 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of [f]heaven, but My Father only.
Except that often when I say Jesus is Coming SOON, people scoff at me and say you don't know that it could be 500 years from now.
This verse is one of the most misquoted verses on the subject but I will attempt to show you how the Bible tells us differently.
First, The Bible told the 1st Century Jews exactly when Messiah would die for their sins. Nisan 32, A.D. We know this because Daniel 9 tells us. The Pharisees in Jesus' time studied Daniel and should have known that He was the Messiah. This is why Jesus rebuked them in Matthew 16:1. He called the Hypocrites! For not knowing the times, yet claiming to understand and study the Bible.
So does the Bible tell us when we should watch for His coming?
Matthew 24:3 The disciples ask Jesus “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”
      Notice the question "when?"
As we read Matthew 24 we see the signs, we see the 2nd Coming being described but how are we to know for sure of the timing?
      Matthew 24:32-34 Jesus says
32 “Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. 33 So you also, when you see all these things, know that He is near-at the doors! 34 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place."
Many Christians believe that Jesus's return can't come because so much of the world is lost and we are going to bring the gospel verse
13 "But he who endures to the end shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come."
This prophecy though won't be fulfilled by the Church because Revelation 14 tells us so
6 Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth-to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people- 7 saying with a loud voice, “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.”
If you think that the Church has some great mission to accomplish like evangelizing the whole world before Jesus comes then you'll have trouble accepting Matthew 24:32-34.
Paul also says in 1 Thessalonians 5 But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. 2 For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. 3 For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape.
Jesus says we won't know the exact hour of His return but that doesn't mean we can't know anything.
If I went on a trip and I said I'd be back either December 24 or 25. And then someone asked you when will he be back?
Would you say I don't know? Or because I wasn't exact you can't even know the approximate time? No that's silly.
Jesus tells us exactly when and how things will unfold. In fact, many students of Bible prophecy believe that Jesus will return on the feast of Trumpets. This feast is called the feast that "no one knows the day or hour" of because within a 2 da period depending on the phase of the moon is when the feast starts. But we know it's between those 2 days at some point that it'll begin.
It's silly to say that because of this misused verse we just sit in the dark about it. After all God has dedicated almost 1/3 of His Word to the 2nd Coming and the events leading up to it.
      Hope this helps.

Bible scholars agree there are things added and taken away, and new words replaced over the years. Scribes added things to make a story sound better. Mike Licona agrees on these issues. Second, yes, we have free will to hurt one another, but natural disasters kill millions, so if God is sovereign, and He is. Why all the disasters? I am a Veteran with PTSD that causes Focus Problems. Before the PTSD breakdown I taught people how to Teach. I do agree that the Progressive Church is a Danger; but it is especially a Danger to the Younger who have focus problems. So doing a teaching to help those with a Focus Problem is something I really know about. I am assuming you are supposed to be mentored by Frank? Other than when Frank is on a Panel; he uses the Screen and he is not the Focus of the screen. Unless he has a POOR Camera person, who focuses more on Frank, than Teaching Screen. You have NO TEACHING SCREEN. Don't teach something is for those who are not focused on 1 Thess 5;19-24 to TEST what they are supposed to test; but accept the "Easy / WIDE Road" of Faith.
    1) you should show what you are reading since you tell us to look at what was said.
    2) Your Description should have the "Post" you are teaching against; but only info about you and your ministry.
    3) The Video of your teaching inside some box with neon light moving around your video makes people lose focus and they (I did) trying to figure out what is the back screen it is "Shiney" also Vets / Law Enforcement / Firemen / Health Care / etc are taught to look toward Peripheral areas of Movement where Danger can be. It might look "Cute" or "New" it makes people lose focus. The "Movement" Screen outside of the Teaching Screen is what Con Men do with the Shell game; and Magicians use to get the audience to look away from what one is trying to focus on ... slight of hand. I am not saying you are a Con Man, or a Magician, just using an analogy that it makes those trying to learn what you are saying ... those NOT of the "Choir" those who may be thinking to "Deconvert".
    4) Those who are of the "Choir" (A) totally agree with the teacher, so yes they give atta girl / boy comments. (B) the Choir is usually made of "Alpha" Singers who are trying to be part of the focus behind the Teacher / lead singer (C) Their view is not the same as those looking at the Teacher so they find it hard to see if there is a problem (D) the Choir forget about allowing "Tickle my Ears" Bias, and forget to Test the Teacher. Even back (1960s) to the Andy Griffith / Mayberry RFD episode ... how one episode the "Choir" felt the "Robe" was more important than the Churches Foundation to be repaired. The "Choir Robe" is called a Cassock. Russian word ... USSR that is Atheist focused.
    5) Frank uses "Proof / Evidence" Screens, as in showing the "Post" and "Scriptures" one is talking about. So, If you can place a Screen of your teaching inside of the Neon Movement screen ... you have the skill / knowledge to do a Split Screen, or move the Screen from you to the Post/Scripture and back again.
    6) Pastors since "PowerPoint" was found as a Useful tool for Teaching … they started using it. The Problem is Pastors forgot to remind those they taught - ONE don't forget to bring your Bible to Service. TWO Don't forget to take notes. THREE Don't forget to use those notes to TEST (1 Thess 5;19-24) what I have taught. Yes, Power Point has caused Lazare Faire r/t studying the Scripture for what 30+ years but a Teaching vs a Sermon is different. The Difference is that "Sermon" the Pastor does not cover the "THREE", while most "Teachers" in Schools & Univ etc do the "THREE". Except saying the "Bible" they say "Text Book". Pastors have forgotten that the Bible is the Text Book / Manual from the Creator. Both Should be "Active" listeners. Active as the THREE points Pastors & Teachers should be reminding the Audience / Students to do. But NOT doing those THREE Pastors have allowed people not test what is being taught. Due to this "PILLAR" of Pastors & Bible Teachers NOT doing this, is why the what SIX? Pillars you taught have easily fallen. You did not do the THREE, You didn't even use PowerPoint or Slides or ??? To show Proof / Evidence r/t Scripture or the False Teaching "POST". ONLY YOU, and a Distractive Outer EDGE. Pastors & Bible Teachers forget the "Audience" is NOT their INCOME, but the Students / Disciples. Yes, many have left for the Progressive Church / etc because they are looking for "Tickle Me Elmo" Pastors. But Also Many have left because Tradition is what is Taught, and Not Scripture.
    7) due to above problems, all I know is you talked about "Pillars". Freemasons have "Pillars", Islam have "Pillars", Mormon has "Pillars", Nutritionist's have "Pillars", I can keep going with "Pillars" there is Nothing wrong with "Pillars" in a Teaching. Your Audience was to understand how those are switching to the Progressive Church; who are of the "Lack of Focus" Youngster group. I have Focus problems, but due to Health I am in my 60s. Before my PTSD Breakdown, I had Focus Skills most do not attain ... If Pastors & Teachers have been doing the THREE - Know where your Bible is, and want to Carry it, Study It, Read it, Take Notes, Test the Teaching with the notes minimally, then the Progressive Church and School Teachers, College Professors, Atheists, would NOT be a Problem. Even with Lack of Focus I know this ... When I was a Pastor (30+ YRS) I always asked questions that the Other Pastors and Bible Study Teachers did NOT want to answer. Especially the "THREE" Pillars you have Missed that the Pastors/Teachers kicked down themselves.
    8) I am sure you might have made "Good" points; but this Video is a 180 degree (About Face) from what Frank usually uses. MAYBE, JUST MAYBE you should redo this Teaching? I AM NOT going to try rewatching it. When I do a "THUMBS DOWN" I explain why. There is an old Saying ... If a Customer complains, there is usually 100-1000 customers who dont. Einstein said he learned more from KNOWN errors, than getting it right. OH Sadly, most Pastors and Bible Study Teachers DO NOT TEST what they teach. I have met so many Pastors that prefer reteaching "Traditional" prior teachings than test them and do Scriptural because when they do "Scriptural" with the "THREE" than People Leave cause they have made LAZY Believers (Are they really Believers??? if they don't do their own Bible Studies?) and these Pastors don't own up it is their fault; and have to be the "ALARM Clock".

But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it; Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended. part 3
Many Christians talk about the Rapture, the Harpazo, the gathering to Jesus one day and they try to figure out the when and how of it. Like I said no one seems to ask the “why” of it. Why does the Rapture have to happen?
Many Pre-trib believers believe that it’s to save us from the wicked world. Many post-trib believers believe it’s a reward for enduring to the end to show the LORD whose worthy to rule in His Kingdom.
I believe the Rapture occurs because God needs to save the world from us, not the other way around. There is ample evidence that the Church is divided (2000+ denominations) as we’ve seen we can’t even agree on some very basic theology. No one preaches on Jesus’ return because it’s too controversial and it’s for the future. Yet 1/3 of the Bible is dedicated to the topic and clearly defines the timeframe to watch with a beginning and an end time.
Paul speaks about this in Romans 11 25 For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. 26 And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: “The Deliverer will come out of Zion, And He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob; 27 For this is My covenant with them, When I take away their sins.”
Before the Church God used Israel to show Himself to the Gentile nations. Then the Jews rejected The Messiah and God partially blinded them “that blindness in part has happened to Israel” for a time “until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.” God uses the Church to cause Jews to become jealous and be saved. Romans 11:14 "in the hope that I may provoke my own people to jealousy and save some of them."
Except for the last days Church which doesn't provoke them to jealousy.
Then when the “Fullness of the Gentiles” has come in God will save Israel.
If you think God is done with Israel and that Bible Prophecy which Jesus Himself says is for the unbeliever, not the believer is about you than you have missed the boat.
The “fullness of the Gentiles” can only happen 1 of 2 ways. Either every Gentile (non-Jew) is saved or that no more Gentiles will be saved because of our witness. Many believe that Jesus’ return is far off because we all see the world of almost 8 billion people and so many are lost. We think we’re the Church, God’s chosen the ones who have the Truth, that Jesus can’t come yet because the world is so lost. Except if Jesus's return is very close then that means the Church has failed miserably in sharing the gospel.
With everything I have shown you I hope you realize that the truth is the latter. The Rapture is the first Judgment God brings to the Earth because we are the first fruits of Jesus. Yes, it will be a glorious day to see our KING but in 2000 years of Church history we are the ones who bring the end of the age. Jesus loves us and we are His Bride and He has always known this so we have no need to fear. We just simply need to humble ourselves and realize we are saved by His grace and love and not think too highly of the “works” we do for Him.
So what is SIN. Sin is what we choose to think, say or do that brings death to ourselves, others, either physically, emotionally, or spiritually, or destroys the planet. It’s when we choose death. We do this everyday in countless ways and God knows this. This is why Jesus willingly died in our place and conquered death. Paul says in Romans 7 that members of his being are at war.
22 For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. 23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 24 O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? 25 I thank God-through Jesus Christ our Lord!
So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.
We are Spirit, Mind and Body. When we are Born Again Jesus says in John 3 5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
This is why when we die our spirit goes to Heaven, but our body remains in the ground until the great day in 1 Corinthians 15, the resurrection day.
The moment we are Born Again our Spirit is saved, as we walk with Jesus our mind is renewed and transformed.
Romans 12:12 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
What is “conforming to this world” mean? Choosing death. But “be transformed by the renewing of your mind” learning how we choose death and instead choose life. “so that we may prove what is good and acceptable and perfect will of God” Choosing life and bringing life to others. Jesus said
John 11:25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live,
John 6:35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. John 3:36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.
John 1:4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men.
SIN is choosing Death and not Life. It’s not about rules or commandments or righteousness or holiness, Only God is Righteous and Holy, it’s about choosing life in our lives. Freedom in Christ is simply asking is what I am thinking, saying or doing bringing life or death, physically, emotionally, or spiritually to ourselves or others or our planet? Then Choosing Life.
This is our walk with God, this is the work He does in our lives. Our Spirit s saved when we believe and trust in Jesus, our mind is renewed and transformed as we walk with Him and on the resurrection day in 1 Corinthians 15:50 our mortal bodies will be transformed ad we will be made whole. Until that day we will war within ourselves over life and death everyday and almost always we will choose death. When we do simply go to the LORD and say I messed up. Sorry. 1 john 1:9. Then move on and be free in Christ. Stop living in fear and guilt and self torture. Jesus frees us from all that. He knows us and knows our flaws, and brokenness and SINS and HE loves us and will walk with us helping us grow in Him that when we encounter others we may choose life and not death and will forgives us completely when we do mess up.
2000 years and 2000+ denominations all believing they’re right. Doctrines and teaching everywhere and the Bible says in Proverbs 16:7 “When a person’s ways are pleasing to the LORD, He causes even his enemies to make peace with him.”
Can this be said about the Church today? Not from where I’m standing. Many will say it’s because the world is so wicked. So sinful. Blah, Blah, Blah. When you examine church history the blame for the way the world is, falls directly on our shoulders. The Bible says, we were the first to kick God out of our churches-Revelation 3:20. We created echo chambers, 2 Timothy 3-4. We created hypocrisy 1 Timothy 4.
We were the ones who are the apostasy of the Church not the unbelievers.
I feel sorry for many believers because the greatest event in human history is coming and all we can say is “Jesus is coming, in the future”
If your church doesn’t preach about Jesus’s return then I honestly have to ask if the Spirit of the LORD s even in your church.

    This is lazy "deconstruction".
I was a young kid who loved God and was "saved". I was sexually abused as a child after that and that was the first time I really started to question everything. Before that happened, I would've thrown myself in front of a train for Jesus no questions asked if it was a matter of faith. I then had some years in the military and saw some horrible things that pretty much cemented the rest for me.
You can 100% walk away, and you can lose what you truly had. It's the harsh reality of life and existence. If God is all powerful...I could never, ever trust him ever again. I was a defenseless 8 year old boy when he let that happen. That can never be reconciled. In the same way I could forgive the abusers, I could possibly move past it with him....but that's an entirely different story than loving and trusting him and wanting a relationship with him. That ship has sailed.
There's a quote out there, "What punishments of God are not gifts?" Yes, you can learn to create something good from something you wish had not happened. But to me that has nothing to do with God or the abusers. Just like I would never thank the abusers because I have been able to connect with and help other people who have had the same thing happen...I would never thank God either.
Imagine if anyone told me about horrible things that happened to them or something they were suffering through and I said, "yeah well listen to what happened to ME!" That's what the whole Jesus and Cross thing has become about. It was essentially what I was told when I was young. It's basically "what you went through is nothing because Jesus was on the Cross". It's a terrible way to talk to someone about their own individual experience.
I am fully separated from God...but unlike religion would have people believe...that's not my fault. I'm not his child and I never was. Love, trust, and faith only came from my side, it was a one way street.

The issue with this claim is you are projecting your own principles on to the Bible, in this case your definition of love, but you would need to first find where your objective standard lies and how you have arrived at that objective standard.
I agree with your claims above, but it’s important to understand where you are coming from. I don’t have too much trouble with claims in the Bible because Jesus is extremely real, so I know that the New Testament is true. Jesus came to fulfill the law, and the law was the OT, but that was one aspect of the law. The “law” is Gods rules for how we should live and the OT and NT are special revelations of the law. In the end it appears you are cutting off the branch you are sitting on because you are saying that the law of God is unjust, unfair, unloving, but where do you get your standard?

    @thebelen2359 3 года назад +8

When I was 12 I started questioning everything. And eventually that led to me questioning religion. Here's why I deconverted (the reasons are in order):
    1. *Descrimination:* My doubts started when I realized how discriminatory the church and Christianity are. Sexist - Who has more power in church? Men. There's never been a female Pope, and most churches don't allow female priests either. Not to mention God and the devil are always referred to as male. Homophobic - Lots of christians believe romance between 2 people from the same sex is a sin. To this day I haven't been able to figure out how this is true. After all, it's love and it doesn't hurt anyone. Transphobia - Again, transgender doesn't hurt anyone and it makes people happy so what's the harm? Because it's not the body God gave you? Well, God also gave you a mind and for some people their minds disagree with their bodys. Also, and this applies to both homophobia and tranphobia - if God really is all loving, wouldn't they want you to be happy and live your life to the fullest as yourself? Especially when you didn't choose to feel the way you do.
    2. *Lack of evidence:* For some people, the evidence there is on Christianity is enough, and if that's your case, good for you. But it's not my case. I'm not an atheist though, since I recognize that there is some evidence, and there are so many things that we still can't explain with science, I don't think completly rulling Christianity out is a good idea. This is why I became and agnostic. I simply believe that with the evidence we currently have, we can't determine which (if any) religion is true.
    3. *Evil and pain existing:* You mentioned this. And the explanation you gave about freewill is good, but that only explains why we can do evil. Not why it exists in the first place. If evil and pain didn't exist, we wouldn't be able to cause or experiance it, not because God is controlling us into not doing it, but because the option wouldn't exist in the first place.
    4. *Hell:* You mentioned this one too. Personally, I just can't see how an all loving God would let such a place exist. Also, I don't think there's anyone in the world who deserves to be punished for all eternity. I mean, really think about what that means. It's not for a lifetime. It's not for a thousand, or a million, or even a billion years It's _for all eternity._ Who actually deserves that? And tbh, I'd argue you could use the same criteria for heaven. Who actually deserves to be happy, free of all pain forever?
    5. *Certain acts God did in the Bible:* The first one that comes to mind is the plagues They made to free the slaves from Egypt. These plaguee didn't just affect those who had a role in slavery. They affected everyone in Egypt. Entire families, children. What did they do to deserve that? Simply live in Egypt? Not stop the slavery? What could they have done? Stand up to the pharaoh and tell him to stop? They probably would've been executed and accomplish nothing. Also, they were taught from an early age that slavery was fine and normal. That the slaves were worth less than them. How can you blame someone for believing what they've been taught their entire lives, and what everyone around them believes?
Anyway, these are the main reasons why I deconverted. Like I stated before though, I don't completly rule out the possibility that it's all true. I simply say I don't know. I respect everyone's beliefs though. Sorry for making this so long 😅.
P.S: Doubt anyone will actually read this entire thing, but if someone can answer some of the questions I made that would be greatly appretiated.

Discrimination: I'm sorry you are seeing God and God's people the way that you are. No doubt that God's people can sometimes have good intentions but make matters worse(not to mention certainly be discriminatory). It's hard, but the Holy Spirit can change hearts to see the truth. In terms of the male/female you mentioned above, one needs to see this through the lens of the Created Order. This is very important. God, the Creator of all things, created Man first out of the dust of the ground, then Female from the rib of the first man (Adam). So, everything that follows from there in terms of church leadership, marriage roles, etc are set out to adhere to the original created order, before sin. Once sin entered the world, everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) fight to be DISORDERED. With regard to the sin of same-sex acts (notice I didn't say homosexual THOUGHTS, but the actual act) is that God forbids it. Both the OT and NT are filled with scriptures that forbid the practice. Based on the authority of scripture and all people's need to repent on their sin and avoid the wrath of a Holy God (more on that below), it is the MOST loving thing a Christian can do by alerting people to their sinful behavior so they can repent. God is loving, as you say, but he is also Holy. What He calls sinful (homosexuality being one of many sins He can't be around) remains sinful regardless of what our thoughts are about the subject. Doesn't make those things easy to grasp, but is nonetheless the truth.
Evidence: You need to remember that Science can only explain things that are observable. Science will never have an ounce of factual information about the human soul, b/c our souls cannot be observed. Take the resurrection for example. It's a huge stumbling block. With our eyes, nothing gets raised from the dead. Nothing. But, with God (the Creator of all) He can do and does do what is in line with his Holy will. Just as He can stop me from breathing one day, He can raise His Son from the dead. God (Creator) doesn't have any limitations as creation does. If He did, He would cease to be God.
Evil and Pain: With sin, comes consequences. The consequence of sin is always pain. It's not hyperbole when Jesus said that if your eye makes you look on someone lustfully, it's better to carve it out and enter the Gates of Heaven with one eye and not go to hell with two eyes. That's how serious sin is. Also, how would we ever experience God's loving-kindness if there was no pain and suffering? His loving-kindness is there to draw us towards repentance, not for us to recognize good vs evil only. It's all about the recognition of sin, the recognition of a Holy God's claim on our lives, and our need to repent of all of our sin and trust that Jesus provided the ultimate sacrifice on our behalf. Anything short of that misses the Lordship of Jesus.
Hell: This is where the Holiness of God is so very hard to grasp. I struggled with this as well for quite some time. God is holy, He cannot be around sin. That's a fact. Scripture is filled with passages and stories in which people had to hide their faces b/c of His radiant glory (Read: holiness). Because God can't be around sin, unrepentant people are cast out of His presence forever. Because He is in heaven, unrepentant sinners can't go to heaven. I would encourage you NOT to rank sins (i.e. who deserves eternal Hell or eternal Heaven). The truth is, we all deserve the former and none of us deserve the latter. But, out of God's loving-kindness, He chooses to place His wrath (appropriate, Holy Wrath) towards sin on the Person of Jesus Christ. Jesus's work on the Cross is literally the only reason, our only plea as to why we should be able to join God for all eternity. We can't build up "good" things we have done, we can't count how many times we have attended church, how much money we donate or even how much we "love" others. It's all junk. Our only plea as to why we can one day finally stand in the presence of a Holy God is b/c of Jesus. As we trust in Jesus, God views us as righteous in His sight. It's a mystery, but one that we can trust.
Certain Acts in Bible: Yes, some of God's actions in the Bible seem out of place to us. Why did children have to suffer through the plagues? Why were there so much death and fighting and killing? Some of these things we can never fully understand. However, if we go back to God being the Creator of all humanity and caring for His people (despite their sin and rebellion) as well as God's love for everyone by sending his Son to earth to die the death that WE DESERVED, you can start to see that God's plans are higher than ours, certainly, our finite minds can't wrap around all of the details that God had in mind when he chooses to do one thing or the other. But, the whole of scripture is there to point us to our need for salvation and that salvation is only being found in Jesus Christ.
In the interim, I'll be praying for you. There is so much more to be written, but hopefully God will use your belief and help your unbelief, as he did in Mark 9.

Just an observation about what Mrs. Childers says about the first pillar of the Christian faith; the Bible. She notes that Jesus frequently quoted scripture, and _"So because we believe Christ is the foundation of our faith, we obey what He says about the Bible. "_ (2:39)
There are (at least) two problems with this view. First of all, Jesus only referred to what we now call the "Old" Testament as God's word, but when Mrs. Childers says "the Bible", I am pretty sure she includes the New Testament. If she applied her argument correctly, the New Testament should not be counted as "God's word".
This then causes the second problem that we cannot trust that what is written about Jesus in the New Testament is actually true. If the New Testament cannot be considered "God's word", then we should approach it the way we approach any old document, and that would almost automatically lead to the skeptical interpretations that lead to "deconstruction" of faith.

But tomorrow is pretty likely especially if you're young. The phrase "Tomorrow isn't promised" is a scare tactic. A very sly and effective scare tactic. But young people are more likely to not be phased by that line because, well, they see death as old age or disease or an accident, but they think it will happen when they grow up. Young people live in the present for the most part, so that phrase isn't comprehended that much by most youth. The phrase "Tomorrow isn't promised" is more geared towards the adults.

IMHO for me raised as a traditional Baptist and not stuck in denomination and always open to the Holy Spirit and asking for his revelation and understanding in the WORD. I cant imagine deconstruction if you truly are saved and have been sealed in Christ being born again. The battle becomes when you want to except worldly morality and understanding over Biblical teaching. First off, if you don't believe the Bible (KJV 1611) is the inerrant God inspired WORD then your headed for big trouble down the road in your faith, you can believe that God can speak all into existence but he cant put his WORD inspired through man in his book the way he wanted it? If you believe its in error then how can you believe any of it? since you would need a man to correct GOD in the WORD inspired?

This verse reconstructed my understanding of scripture and how it applies to us as Christians and everything fell into place. "rightly dividing the word of truth", you need to understand dispensationalism and how it applies to gentiles and where the Kingdom period pauses and the Grace dispensation is in effect. I was taught for most of my Christian life all scripture applies to us as Christians, It does NOT.

If you don't understand this your going to get all messed up in your application of scripture. Then your faith will wain and worldly confusion comes in with doubt and your headed to a point where so called deconstruction can happen, very sad! God will give you discernment and reveal to you as the Body of Christ what you need in this world just pray for it and trust Him.

I often struggled with sermons in church growing up as I had a strong connection and faith with Jesus but never believed the taking snake, Daniel and the whale, walking on water or the literal resurrection, or atonement of sins business, or hell. It was obviously not true, and Jesus was clearly here to tell us to love god, love one another, forgive, that love and kindness is the important thing in life, not following some questionable strict religious doctrine or trying to look good. I remember the good Samaritan story was very clear to me in that respect. The Samaritan was the person we are to follow the example of. I think people probably deconvert as they get bogged down in the long winded intellectual arguements. My gran and mother Teresa are my main teachers. Actually, the world around us makes far more sense through the Christian world view.I am a critical thinker, and that's what made Christianity even more viable to me,in order to make sense of why people behave the way they do, and why they do some of the things they do.John 3:19-21, explains that people love their dark deeds, and hate the truth and being exposed. It's because people don't want to be held accountable for what they do in the dark, when they think no one else is watching. The Bible says that God sees all, and so it's far better to believe he doesn't exist, rather then face any moral accountability. That's a major reason I didn't want to believe either.I know better now. The Bible is there to warn us that we will be held accountable but we have a way out through Jesus Christ the Lord. He wants to cleanse us of all our guilt and shame, which we all have and are burdened with. In return, we'll receive that ideal world in which we all dream about, that is without illness, pain, and death!! You can't have a better deal than that.

We’re not doing it correctly 😮… Christ commanded “love thy neighbor “ yet so so many feel nothing but hate.. Do we blame them? Would you blame a child for feeling of anguish, or would you ask them why, comfort them, and give them love?
Instead with these “sinners” we insult them, while saying “come join us” … we say “here’s love” while standing proudly upon our pedestal.
If I’m wrong… then why aren’t the congregations still meeting in fields, and ramshackle tabernacles… why do we have these huge buildings( some are amongst the largest in the world pft^2😮) … All these great things for the “Glory of God” yet the homeless live at the corner…
Theres still kids going without a Christmas, there’s still addicts who desperately want someone to offer them help…
“Well our church has many different outreach programs”…(how many millions did you just spend on the new addition so for your “community outreach center”?)
    Oh small church ..?
Well I’m sure your Vanity sharing T-shirts with the church’s logo and a catchy saying on it has done way more for spreading the gospel than taking that same money, and idk… demonstrating God’s love..
Modern church does reflect the true teachings…

Becoming Christian means you first have to be taught that you are a sinner as defined by God's moral law. This puts you in a state of repentance, knowing you need Jesus and his forgiveness. It's very common for people to "deconvert" or backslide without this. Many grow up only being taught that "Jesus loves you". That is not a strong enough foundation for when life gets tough.

We may not be of bondage anymore with the curse of the Law, But we still have to follow them.

I'm an atheist and apostate. Here's the difference between me and someone like Alisa:
I'm glad she admits that the church turns away people who have questions. But the problem is, when I had questions I actually DID get answers. And the answers that I got from the church stared getting circular. The answers like Frank Turek give, are circular. The answers that Lee Strobel give are circular. The answers that William Lane Craig give are circular.
And after digging deeper, I very slowly began to recognize Christian apologetics for what it really is - a petty crusade to keep people in the faith, masquerading as an intellectual enterprise.
For Alisa, these circular answers were good enough. She was satisfied with the answers.
I wasn't. All it did, was help create more baffling issues, with more questions. So I questioned my way right out of Christianity. To me, if one is truly being honest with their own common sense, they will come to this conclusion.

I'm always amazed at how much energy and time self-proclaimed atheists put into arguing with Christians about a being they don't believe exists. I don't believe in fairies or unicorns, but I have not spent more time than it took to type this sentence to hate on those who do believe in fairies and unicorns. Why argue about it now? You'll have plenty of time when you stand before the Throne of God to argue your case before the very God you don't believe is there. Methinks you protest too much at this time. It is my opinion that the issue with you is that you don't WANT God to exist. You don't want anyone or anything to stand in the way of your rebellious, heart-engaged selfishness. The best word I have for you is one that even Christians are loath to use these days, and that is the word 'repent', before it's too late.

I was one of those people who asked too many questions and no one would take me seriously (I was 12/13 at the time) or I was seen as rude or answering back. Meanwhile, while I had questions about my faith, a dear Muslim lady to me planted doubt in my mind about my faith. I became agnostic and was looking into Islam but gave up on faith altogether. But God never abandoned me and 3 years ago I went to a church that made realise that Jesus was what I was looking for. And I'm learning new things about God everyday. My heart was too hard to know God then. He did not abandon me but rather I couldn't hear Him.
My advice to elders in the church is to not belittle people when they have their questions, especially if they are not strong in their faith or have no other Christian they can turn to. You may be pushing them away. And to those people who left their faith because of this, I pray you have an encounter with God yourself and are filled with the Holy Spirit. You are not wrong to ask questions. God is not a cruel God and may He lead you onto the right path.

      1. There’s definitely a soul/ immaterial part of us. I mean why r there paranormal/ metaphysics/ spirituality. I mean if there’s no unseen soul-ish realm then it should be impossible for us to even think about IT being possible. Astral projections, demonic possessions, yokai. If such thing is impossible then why is there an origin in the first place. Idk there’s just many proofs. Even in cctv cameras, ouji boards etc.
      2. Aside from the historical and scientific evidence. If u really wanna know if God is real then approach Him personally. Follow the guidelines of what the Christians are saying. If u really wanna know then put an effort in to it.
They say it goes like this but not really sure: seek God with all ur heart soul and mind-> seek Him again and again like gaining knowledge about his personality cause He’s a person, He has likes and dislikes-> trust the finished work of Jesus -> repent daily sincerely -> and it’s a lifelong journey of knowing God and spending quality time with Him loving and etc. (Not confident in the detail of steps)

    1. The truth is not understood by preachers.
What lots of people (even pastors) don't (yet) understand.
God created us according to His own image and likeness. Godly.
Mankind/the first Adam fell. The image of God in man got lost. That's why there is all this predicament on earth (selfishness, greed, lust, wars, sicknesses, death, etc).
We are all born into that mess.
For the fall of man a perfect atoning sacrifice had to be made.... that is what God did in Christ.
With His own once and for all perefect sacrifice, He paid the debt for the fall of man for us, so we can be indwelled by His Spirit again and finally receive the divine life of the ages back, the first Adam let got of in the fall of man. An amazing act of grace and love by our creator.
That is what you see happening in Christ's first disciples. They too healed all and walked in unselfish love.
And yes.... that is still avaible today. The holy blood is in place, the Holy Spirit is here to give us understanding, power and transform us back to origin.
Not to be debated about, but to be embraced and be-come.
So: The Kingdom of God already came. Through Christ, in Spiritform, in those that understand.
Hence the divine healing miracles we experience.
God manifested in Christ to give us back the divine life mankind lost in the fall of Adam.
Christ, the exact image of the invisible God.
The image we were created after in Gen 1.
The image we lost in the fall of man.
The image that can be freely restored by Christ's blood and Holy Spirit working IN us.
What a plan. What a solution. What a love. What a God. Jesus is amazing.
It is the ultimate conclusion of the word and plan of God. God came full circle.
He Himself stooped down from glory to restore us back to original created value: Christlikeness. Walking in divine healing power and unselfish love.
Jesus, born of the Spirit of God, filled with the spirit of God. The "Son" of God, the incarnated word, God in the flesh.
For three years He healed all, raised the dead, casted out demons, controlled nature, spoke pure divine truth.
    He said:
"Follow Me. If you see Me, you see the Father. The Father and I are one. The glory I have IN My Father, I give to you. It pleases the Father to give you His Kingdom/Holy Spirit/divine nature. I will send Holy Spirit, the same as Me, He will be IN you, guide you into truth and give you explosive power. The same miracles i do, you will do too, because you will understand that the Father is IN Me and I am IN you. Freely I give you My Kingdom/Holy Spirit/divine nature, heal the sick, raise the dead, cast out demons, freely I give, freely share" Etc, etc, etc.
I have experienced thousands of beautifull healing miracles through the power of Holy Spirit IN me already. Broken bones, cancers, covid, all kinds of infirmities healed in seconds. Demons manifesting and casted out by a simple "get out, in Jesus name".
Jesus. De name above all names. In Him all power and wisdom is sourced and.... He calls us one with Him. God in man and man in God again. C'mon Jesus!!
So.... again: God stooped down IN Christ to restore us back to Gen 1:27 were He said: "Let us make man according to our image and likeness and let them have authority.....": walk as Christ.
Christ, the exact image of the invisible God. The image we were created after and being restored to by His atoning blood for the fall of man and indwelling Holy Spirit.
You are free to receive this original divine life of the ages by Holy Spirit of Christ/God. Ask Him to guide you into truth. Read the Gospel of John and fall in love with your creator.
You are not made for the fall of man and its effects, but for the image/glory of God and to walk like Christ. Holy Spirit is the guide and transforming power that will get you there. Amazing grace.
A big leap in faith can be made when we start realizing we are already IN Christ, IN the last Adam.
Free from the fall! Loved! Growing into awareness of our new (yet old) godly identity. Changing by Holy Spirit. The most fullfilled life ever.
Paul healed all on Malta. He understood and wrote:
"As in the first Adam ALL died (lost the divine nature), so also ALL were made alive IN Christ to walk in Zoë (= divine life) again".
"IN Christ (the last Adam) we are co-cruisified (dead to the fall and its effects), co-raised (justified/made righteousness, holy, blameless, above reproach), co-seated (one with Him)"
"The fullness of deity dwells in Christ and YOU HAVE BEEN MADE COMPLETE IN HIM, who is the head of every principality and power".
So.... thank you Jesus! Thank you for redeeming me from the fall of man. Thank you for your Holy Spirit that makes this new (yet old) divine life come alive in me. You are amazing!
In the shadow of Peter the sick healed... He understood too and wrote:
"By Gods power (Holy Spirit) and knowing Christ, we have become partakers of the divine nature and have escaped the fall of man".
The divine life of the ages has been returned to us by Jesus once and for all perfect atoning sacrifice for the debt of the fall of man and His indwelling Holy Spirit in us. Jesus/God is amazing!!!
Ask Him to give you revelation and change you to the way it was before the fall of man: Christlikeness.
He will do so. For it is written: "the Spirit brings forth after His own kind".
"I have come to give you Zoë (divine life) in abundance...."
