      Drew you should listen to Tool's demo tape called 72826, the whole album is only 6 songs and 23 minutes long. Based on your reactions, I'll guarantee you will absolutely love it. Also, you should give the 4 track Ænima outtakes album a listen as well. Both can be found on RUclips.

    • @MK-ti2oo
      @MK-ti2oo 4 года назад

      72826 was a demo, everything on it is recorded on either the Opiate or Undertow albums. Opiate is a very raw early Tool album, it's good and heavy and predictable. Undertow is similar, but more refined, you can see the band finding themselves and what they can do. Ænima was kind of like a bridge album between the heavier raw Tool we knew and loved and the ascension to complete 'are you fucking kidding me, YESSSSS!' with Lateralus and on. It was really great to see the evolution in real time.

    • @chrisseals5872
      @chrisseals5872 4 года назад +1

      @@MK-ti2ooThe songs on the demo are the same but they are performed differently than on Opiate and Undertow. Also Cold and Ugly and Jerk Off were live versions on Opiate as opposed to the demo versions.

    Undertow next! You've been going backwards(more or less), so why not continue with that? :)
    I think you'll totally dig Undertow. It's by far their most straight-forward album. But while it's not nearly as rhythmically complex(relatively speaking) it's still a brilliant album from start to finish. Has a rawer earthier more riff-driven vibe. And Maynard's vocals are just searing...far more aggressive than any other album. Aenima and Lateralus are definitely my favorite albums....but Undertow is just fun to listen to. Just tons of excellent grooves and riffs.

    maybe the most representative song of the tool style; the incredible melodic line of maynard and the lyric theme (criticism of human stupidity), the armony and density of justin on the bass, the kind of adam's guitar lines (alternating melodic clean notes with hard sounds and parts that he mute the guitar) and the virtuosity of danny´s percussion. in the parts that the song must to sound melodic, they make that sounds like a spring morning. the parts that the song must to be hard, they sound like a fucking storm. incredible

    My FUCKING GOD, RIGHT IN TWO. This was my first listen too, and my mind is blown. I've listened to a lot of their songs in the past year, and although I shouldn't be surprised because Tool possesses about fifteen to twenty songs that gave me this same sensation. Every couple of days I discover a new song by them that just rips my brain out and tosses it into space. This song is one of them. Can't believe I missed it. I'll be listening to Wings for Marie (1&2) next.

  • @robertwrase6026

    I like you interpretations at the end of your reactions. And especially for this song. With Fear Inoculum I feel like you can listen to it 4 different ways. Beginning to end. End to beginning. Descending to the first track. Descending to Mocking beat. Just like the two bodied creature that is on the album art work the record is split in two. The first couple songs have that side of elavating above oneself “become Pneuma” exhaling fear. Using older age and wisdom to find your way. The other half is the tempest, the voices in your head. I think Descending is where these two sides spiral in or out of. Yin and yang. We all have the ability to be both. A tempest must be just that.
    Anyway. I recommend doing their cover of Led Zeppelin’s No Quarter as a nice pallet cleanser. Then go to undertow and Opiate. It’s amazing to go back and listen to those two records. Their is also the live performance of undertows single “Sober” that you should check out. This is the time period where Maynard once said that at this point in his life where it was either joining a band or becoming a serial killer.

    Great analysis! Love how you went through Intension's lyrics through to Right in Two. Glad you picked up on near-enough everything. Right In Two is so straight on the nose its hard to ignore. It's Maynard's mastery of breaking your nose in the most subtle way possible.
    As mentioned, two top Tool tracks you need to hear are No Quarter and Sober!
    But they need to be played off of their originals. Led Zep's, No Quarter, and the Live performance of Sober at Reading 1993. Vocal coaches have reacted to it. Musicians love it. Fans can't fucking wait!! It's so good my man, you'll love seeing them in their 90's style. GL!!

    You should do Undertow next...Undertow is where TOOL really kind of established that "TOOL vibe & sound" in my opinion..."Opiate" is a EP..a 5 song demo..their 1st disc so the guys were still pretty green and raw sounding so....but Undertow is when the guys started to "come into their own"..their sound became more polished and tight..i.e..the guys were getting better..highlight songs from Undertow..the first two..."Intolerance".& Prison Sex"..."Bottom" which features a cameo from Henry Rollins..and "Crawl Away" is a badass jam as well..anyway..dont worry about Opiate..if you skipped it entirely..you'd be ok..didnt miss much..but Undertow is killer..so do that one...mmmkay?

    Right in two is an awesome track following lateralus in its overthinking of man leading to mans own devastation, in lateralus having to relinquish all thought and ride the spiral and the right in two it’s essentially the entire theme. Basically from it’s beginnings and transcribing to its end is a journey to overthinking and man destroying itself through conquest and advancement Mjk beautifully eloquently places these lyrics beyond all others trying to convey the same theme. I hope you enjoy this jam as much as I do

    And now time for you to get I to angry Tool. The next two albums you listen to may seem simple in comparison to all you've heard, but they are all wearing their hearts in their sleeves. By far the best reaction I've seen to any song on any channel. Great break down at the end interpreting and explaining the tracks. When this came out I was a bit younger and never took the time to understand the song. It just sounded cool and that was enough for me. Came back to this several years ago and unpacked it and it immediately became I would say my favorite Tool song ever. Jimmy, Wings 1 & 2, Lateralus, Flood & The Grudge are right up there as well. But Right in Two is absolutely my favorite. Cheers.

It’s sparked a project here in Geelong, we’ll be doing a live performance of the album in full in a few months. Keep up the awesome work!! (Can I suggest some Coheed & Cambria go into the queue for reaction? 😁)

    They have certainly evolved a lot since Opiate. As someone mentioned, there are a lot of gems on the early records as well. My favorites are Jerk-off, Sober, Part of me. Much more traditional metal, plenty of more anger. ;)

    It took me a while to get Right in Two... I don't know why but it was never one that stood out. Then I heard the "Beard of Harmony" cover of it and went back and now I can't understand why it wasn't instantly one of my favourites... Weird. Check that cover out on RUclips by the way - it's one of the best covers of anything I've ever heard.

    Merkaba from Salival hasn't been reacted to yet, but totally should be. It's about as progressive as you get.

    Without Judge*ment"

    Tool music is, in the least, thought provoking… Right in Two is definitely so fitting for the world today, despite its age. (And I think we can all share in Drew’s facial reactions, right?) 🤯😂

    Only discovered your channel today. I was sucked in by your reaction to Vicarious. It was awesome to watch. TBH, I've never heard Intension, so this will be a first reaction for me too. Fucked if I'd post my reaction though, being a middle aged bastard. That's an old bastard to you.

    I love that these are your new fav. Just my opinion, I think in the first verse of intension, he is saying "swarm to crush his bones." As in the whole family/ tribe rush the stranger they just pegged with stones and swarm him as a unit and bash him to bits with more stones they had in a big pile for just such an occasion.

  • @laeonflux

    This song is magical, it is just... perfect BUT imperfect as well, it's a blend of polarities. The conscious nature of humans and our hidden nature, the line that divides everything Right in Two. When you count the beats you follow a 6 + 6 + 6 + 4 = 22 but if you divide it right in two then you get the actual time signature which is 11/8. This album for me is their best work but it's so difficult to say this about any Tool album since each one is perfect according to what they want to express. My personal favorite is ÆNIMA because I grew up with that album but this... this album is just... I dunno. The perfect mixture of everything they've done. I love reacting along with people who just discovered this hellish paradise that Tool perfectly manifests. Spiral Out.
