    Great update, I'm in the market for a mesh system and I'm strongly considering the RBK53 and your update has made a strong case for it as my home is a very similar layout to yours. Thanks for the update.

    I may be wrong but I think the original RBK53s were rated at 2000 Sq ft each but Netgear later revised the range on the same units in the product brochures. Also, originally the Orbi system wasn't able to have the satellites daisy chain off each other and were only able to connect to the main router for access, that changed with a later firmware update.

    Just installed Google Nest wifi - these wifi mesh systems are really just a huge leap forward in ease-of-use and speed. just like you would want it to work. The only thing is cost - it's definitely more expensive than just getting a wifi router.

    3:00. You seem to understand technology pretty well, but I'm surprised that you didn't realize that the Orbi wasn't initially a true mesh router. An update later allowed it to daisy chain.

      Was the RBR\S50 always like that or are you referring to earlier versions? I'm looking buying a used set on ebay as people seem to be upgrading to the Wifi-6 unit

    I am reading a lot of the literature and it says that this will handle Internet speeds up to 500 GB per second.
    If you have Service coming into the house that is 600 or even one gig will this create a backlog or is it not worth getting that additional speed from my ISP?
    Thank you

  • @MRrwmac

    Thanks for the update reviews. Seems your now getting 1gb into the modem now. What did you have with your ISP before and what were the speeds throughout the house on this system as you demonstrated here for the faster isp connection?
    Nice house! I’m asking because even though it’s an older system, it is much cheaper than the new stuff, more reliable reports/reviews, and will meet my needs for the next 5 years. I have just upgraded to 200mbs from our 30mbs - haha.

    • @DinkGear
      @DinkGear  3 года назад

      We have never needed anything faster ... Yet, LOL.
      ISP is dishing out about 600Mbps...
      Tests today at far end of house 350Mbps.

    I have the orbi RBK23 with an add-on satellite. Is it worth upgrading to rbk53 to work along our existing rbs20 satellites.

    • @DinkGear
      @DinkGear  Год назад +1

      I believe the 53 has more backhaul speed and 2 more antennas than the RBK23. When I updated my system from the RBK53 to the RBK753S I definitely noticed a difference as I had also updated my internet speeds to GB which I wasn't seeing on the RBK53.
      I wouldn't mix the 2 sets as they have different performances.
      RBK23: Orbi AC2200 Router and Satellites
      (866 + 866 + 400Mbps)
      Tx/Rx: 2x2 (2.4GHz) + 2x2 (5GHz) + 2x2 (5GHz)
      dedicated backhaul.
      RBK53: Orbi AC3000 Router and AC3000 Satellites
      (1,733+866+400Mbps)
      Tx/Rx: 2x2 (2.4GHz) + 2x2 (5GHz) +
      4x4 (5GHz) dedicated backhaul.

      @@DinkGear I have the same system Orbi Rbk50 purchased in early 2017 that I installed in my previous home and my current home. It has worked flawlessly in both homes until a few months ago when 1 satellite is not working. I wasn't sure if I should replace the system since it is now almost 5 yrs old. Glad I found your review to confirm my gut feeling and I think it is time to update my 5 yrs old system

      @@chrisf4055 Very nice... my system went kaput shortly after this video. 1 bad satellite. I Ended up purchasing the newer Orbi version with Wi-Fi 6. It is a much better and faster system. There is a video up on my RUclips page of the newer one.
      I am hoping I get as long out of the new system as I did out of the old.

    I am reading that the orbi system does not separate 2.4 and 5ghz ssids. Does this happen on your system, and if so has it caused any issues?

    • @redoctober2026
      @redoctober2026 4 года назад

      I recently bought Orbi Wifi 6 Mesh Router RBR753S with 2 satellites. Yes, one SSID for 2.4 and 5 ghz. Orbi decides which band and connects devices with it. I think it is cool. I dont experience any signal drop. Good product. Speed is cool (easily over 200 mbps up and down) even 60 feet away.

      Orbi does Not work with GE wifi air conditioners. I had to get Netgear dual router before the Orbi. GE A/C's can only run wifi 5 band due to their application is primative but new.. Also, if you have Verizon, had to get Netgear router dual band before Orbi inorder to run. It works great.
