Also if you are buying liens on vacant land instead of structures you would take a different approach and just focus on whether the land has potential market value instead of having to assess a structure's value. If you buy liens on a structure it's a good idea to check out recent property photos, MLS presence, or anything else that helps you understand the property's potential redemption, since you want it to redeem at some point.
