This is an interesting glimpse into your Dad and his life. Love the old school, practical, no frills, just gets the job done kinda gear. Sounds like your Dad was a cool real man. Sending my condolences and all the best buddy.
I know how you feel about your dad's stuff; how it expresses his character and the memories attached to these items. I lost my father a long time ago (1993, I'm almost your dad's age) but every time I pick up one of his tools it triggers memories I want to hold onto and physically reminds me that he was here.
Thank you for sharing your memories of your Dad with us. The Navajo say that no person is really gone as long as they are remembered. His treasures are now your treasures...
Funny what dads keep in their pockets and how much their sons care. My dad carried tons in his pockets, I still have all of what he carried. I know how hard it is to lose one, but their stuff and the memory of how they used it will keep them, him, alive always. Take care.
Love this. My grandfather is older now and has begun to leave his edc items to me, he has a lot of grandkids (6) and he doesn't want debates between keeping certain items.
Thank you for sharing this. I lost my father to covid in Feb 21, days before his 67th birthday. He was a matter goldsmith and I've inherited all his tools and will keep his skills alive as best I can.
Thanx for sharing. I still have my dad but what you said about yours and his tools resonate deeply with me. My Dad is an electrician and incredible jack of all crafts. I have been following in his footsteps my entire life. We share a love for tools and I have allready gotten many tools handed down from my dad, who he inherited from his dad. For us, the tools of our choice is basicly extensions of ourselves. And I can feel the connection to both him and my granddad whenever I use them!
Just found your channel, very nice video remembering your father. I take my dad’s stuff out every now and then to remind me of him. It’s hard to lose you parents. God Bless 🙏
Thank you for sharing... I got a lot of my dad's stuff... his eye glasses... I put them on to think maybe just maybe I can see what my dad seen or how he viewed things.... r.i.p pops
He looked through those glasses probably for many years. That’s how he saw the world, what a treasure you have. Apologies for missing your comment for so long. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for sharing this, and condolences on your father's passing. I had to smile when I saw the Cross pen because my father carried one just like that, and now I use that same pen every day. My dad's other EDC kit consisted of a Bayer Asprin tin for a few medications, a spiral-bound pocket notebook, a pocket measuring tape very much like that one, and either a small Victorinox or a "Trim-Trio" pocketknife. He also kept a small 110 or 35mm camera, a larger Swiss Army pocketknife, and a space blanket in a Little Playmate cooler he used as his weekday lunchbox. Better prepared than sorry!
Thank you for showing these cherished items. Interesting to see the similarities of the items left behind from one father to another. My father died of covid also, however he was a little older and in a nursing home. It sounds like you had a more positive relationship by the way you speak of him, than i had with my father. I thank you again for sharing. Be safe , take care.😊
Please accept my condolences and thanks for sharing a few fond memories of your Dad. My Dad's pocket knife(Old Timer) is in my pocket every day, every time I use it feels like he is right there helping me...
Such a wonderful video. Thank you for sharing these stories with the world. Your videos are an example of the potential of RUclips and the Internet. So many opportunities for connection and depth.
I lost my father in January too... from a heart attack lost my grand father the following year from corona... I feel you.. My dad had sum cool stuff too... I didn't even know he had such a huge watch collection... 🙏🥺
My condolences. I appreciated your sharing this important part of your dad. You can tell so much of a man's character by the contents of his pockets. Your dad seemed like a solid guy.
Very cool thanks for sharing these memories of your father with us. I lost my dad in 2000 but I'm close to your dad's age now but my dad had similar stuff, the old 3 blade pocket knife, wood pencil for marking stuff, just no frills get the work done man. He was in WW2 and had lived through the Great Depression and that generation knew how to stretch a dollar. But he kept his pocket knives razor sharp too and taught us a dull knife is a dangerous knife. Anyway good stuff thanks for sharing.
Your Dad is one of those people that the anti COVID crazies like to ignore. It happens to everyday normal people. The sort of people who deserve better. My Dad was a Carpenter and we lost him at the same age, so my thoughts are with you man. His legacy lives on. Thank you for sharing part of his life with us 👍
Thank you for sharing and I am sorry for your loss. My dad also passed in January from Covid. He was 1 month shy of 75 and we were/are devastated from the loss. However, I also had a plethora of my dad's stuff to go through and there were several items that you showcased that made me smile. I remember seeing my dad pull out a Case knife to open packages all the time. I even have a few that were my grandpa's so you weren't wrong when you said our father's have been carrying them for generations! Thank you for bringing back a good memory for me and putting a smile on my face.
Thank you so much for sharing with us and being so open and vulnerable. I really appreciated all the history and insides. It's a beautiful experience to hear you talk about your memories of your dad.
I'm very sorry for your loss. As I watched your video, I could not help but see that I carry just about all those items as well. Have been for many years. I am 59 years old and I work maintaining and fixing signal equipment for the railroad. Maybe it is the time period we were raised in. I dont know, but I carry a Leatherman, 2 pocket knives, a big one such as that Dewalt, and a small Case. I also carry a notepad and a pen and mechanical pencil. I prefer the mechanical pencil. The way you described your dad is just about a good description of myself. At any rate, you are lucky to have all that EDC stuff from your dad. Carrying your dad's EDC is a way to keep his memory very close to your heart. God bless you sir. I have also subscribed to your channel. Look forward to view more of your content whenever you feel like getting back into it. Much respect to you and your dad.
Sorry you lost your dad, I too lost my dad a couple years ago at 67. Glad you have some of his things to remind you of him. I cherish the tools my dad passed on to me. I have a few that I remember him using when I was young.
Hate to dig up memories of your dad 2 years later, but just saw this and really appreciated it. So sorry for your loss, but GREAT way to remember him and this was an awesome tribute. Wish I could figure out what that flipper Case knife was, but I can see why it was one of his favorites.
If you are interested, it's called a RussLock knife, introduced in 2000 and named after the company founder. It was meant to mimic the opener on traditional straight razors. Very cool knife.
Thanks for sharing this cool glimpse into your father's stuff. I also lost my dad to covid (August 2021) and life hasn't really been the same. I feel close to him when I handle the things he used to use to do work around the house and work on his rent houses. He was a gun guy too so shooting and handling those guns also bring back good memories. God bless.
My dad was also a gun guy and I have his Glock 19. From time to time I’ll carry one of his knives in my EDC and feel like I have a piece of him with me. Thanks so much for sharing your story and for commenting and viewing the video.
Cross pens were the go to pen to have in those days, it was old school EDC. The money clip is awesome, now we know where KeyBar got the idea.!! That Case knife is rare now, you should try & get it restored with Case Knife Company. They may still hold the gurantee. Don't forget your grandfather knives too. Even todat we still carry a tape measure with our other EDC either in a pouch or bcakpack. We have come so far now as far as EDC goes. Great vid mate. Catch you on the next histort class. Greetings from Australia.
I’m so sorry. My dad has been gone 19 years and it never gets easier. This was an awesome look into his life in what he carried. Great way to celebrate him. Take care and stay strong!!
Hey Chad, firstly, no matter how much time has passed, I am sorry for your loss. I stumbled across this video, and I'm glad to watch this beautiful and somehow historic layout of your dad's EDC. I'm a city boy and after my dad had a heart attack during the recession in 2008 he was forced to sell all his workshop equipment. Likewise, I am very sad about this, as I will not have the opportunity to go over his old items, but when I found a small blue metal box with some tools remaining I was really happy and got tears in my eyes. My dad is still alive, but not in good condition. I would also like to mention the importance of your dad's work. My goal is to one day move to the states, especially the south. Alabama or Tennessee, so the possibility that I will one day live in a place where your dad's work and influence came across is not low. His legacy lives on. Thank you and best regards from Germany Milad
Thank you for sharing. I hope you get some more closure and loving memories about your father. EDC is just what you need and his was simple and practical.
That was really awesome, sorry to hear of your pops passing. It was great to see some of the EDC items that your Dad felt were important to him. Those same items become important to us as well. My Dad had a Swiss Army knife that he took with him overseas to west Africa for 35 years, I have it in my possession now. I’m looking forward to seeing more content from you, you present things very well and you’re very smooth in front of a camera. This is Alan, GREETINGS from Riverside in Southern California, God Bless you my brother.
Thank you Alan! Full disclosure: I will say these “old” EDC video won’t be the norm on this channel, but I’m grateful for your comment. Thank you for watching!
This video makes me feel old. Your dad was a year younger than me. I have a number of those promotional tape measures that I got from my dad. I have a lot of those Cross Century pens and pencils. But I kind of collect them. But, my EDC looks pretty much like younger guys’. I still have my dad’s and my grandfather’s EDC items. My dad was a physician and my grandfather worked on the railroad. Their stuff is pretty interesting.
I have the exact same silver pen but mine is a pencil. It says 'pat. Kanoe' on the top. I don't always use it since it's not that comfortable but it's great to carry around since you can just twist the tip away so it doesn't break
Very sorry for your loss. Sadly, still a lot of folks out there who treat Covid as a joke. A.T. Cross is still around. But the quality has dipped considerably in the last decade or so. Your father's gold mechanical pencil and chrome ballpoint look like examples from the earlier years of production. Bought my mother a white matte Cross ballpoint a few years before the quality started slipping. She still carries and uses it. I EDC Field Notes too. And it seems every few years I buy a new Leatherman Micra. Got a new one in the mail literally days ago. Just a fantastic EDC multi-tool.
The Case knife on the top right is called the RussLock model. It's still being made and sold today. The nickname of the knife is the Woody Woodpecker because when the blade is opened to a particular angle it looks like Woody. True story. Thanks for the great video!
I'm sorry you've experienced this. Thank you for sharing such an interesting glimpse into the life of someone you obviously loved and respected very deeply. Its a very honorable tribute to him. I hope it was comforting in a way to document this.
Firstly I'm so sorry for your loss, it's never easy losing someone we love. I loved this video, I had to do similar when my dad passed and still treasure some of his items to this day.
I am so sorry to hear about your father's passing. I lost my father last year. I'll never forget what that felt like. It was the spiritual equivalent of having the wind knocked out of me like I couldn't breathe, and a whole part of me went missing, leaving this kind of hollow cavity. This was a great idea for a video.
Your knives are AWESOME. Christmas day 2022 marked 68 and 1/2 years for me. I still remember as a young lad taking my blind, double amputee Grandfather (WW1 veteran, coast artillery) out to the attached garage. He would fill his pipe with Half & Half tobacco and grab a smoke while I set up to play mumbly peg with his two-blade pocket knife. Once he was aligned with the wood plank, he could consistently flip that knife and score. I am thinking there will be a lot of quality videos on your channel so my next step will be to hit that subscribe button. We are watching you from our "secret retirement location" on Luzon island, Bulacan province, Republic of the Philippine islands
Sad to know that your dad passed away this Jan. due to Covid-19; part of his life is reflected in the EDC content that he built so thoughtfully and will ever remain with you as sweet memories. Take care man.
I'm a few years younger than your father but I look at his stuff and see the cross pens that I've used all me life. The speed square book and case knife are all things I use or have used on and off for years. Also just heard you say he lived in Huntsville. I live in eclectic AL and have done carpentry for a good 30 years
First, I'm very sorry for your loss. Second, I'm 73 years old and of the same generation as your dad. I also carry very similar items. Two knives (a Case Navy Russlock and a Leatherman Micra), a small notebook with construction pencil, a money clip (Tiffany) and small pocket tape measure (Lufkin). The one item that I carry that he didn't is a small pocket flashlight (Nitecore Tini 2). I'm sure he and I could have swapped some great stories. Third and most important, Stay Strong. In time of need, your family and friends will be there to support you.
Thank you for sharing these personal thoughts. When it comes down to real people it's not about that fancy titan Sebenza stuff, it's just about tools that get the job done. I feel sorry for the loss of your father and wish you and your family all the best. Best regards from the Black Forest / South Germany.
Cross brand pens are a huge brand from years gone by I have used them for years in my office work, I have received them as awards from employers as a anniversary gift, I have a set of them on my desk I got in 1990 when I came to work where I am currently working that are 10K gold and they even made 14k and 18K gold and Sterling Silver ones, the ones in your video are the chrome ones and the working mans pens, I used a set of those for years until the chrome wore off to a coppery looking metal they are good stuff and I can't tell you how many Cross refills I have bought over the years, you can still get the pens at Office Depot and similar office supply stores, the early years you could get them at jewelry stores
Thanks for sharing! It's always neat to see what everyone carries. I particularly liked the tape measure for the pocketable size, and the Case 'Bone Handle' knife. It's interesting how it opens. You really have some treasures to hold onto. The Cross pen & pencil set with Field Notes and Blue Book are really cool.
You will see one day, many days, that you have something important to tell your Dad. You will turn around to tell him, somewhere you expect to see him... and thats when you realize how much you really really miss your Dad.. Great Share! 👍
My condolences on the passing of your Father. I bet your Dad got those Cross pens as a graduation present from High School. I am the same age as your Dad and that was a staple for graduation presents. As long as you have your memories of him he is never truely gone
I just subscribed to your channel & so glad I did really enjoyed the first video I just watched. And saw the video on your dad’s edc. I’m watching it right now & wanted to say that I’m sorry you lost him. I think it’s cool that you’re showing what he carried in edc before there was even a turm or name for it.
Man I really appreciate that. I’ve found even more tools and EDC things he used, so I’ll be featuring a video on that later. Really appreciate your sub and your comment!
Thank you for sharing. Having my dad’s Case knife and Leatherman is one thing, but some reason the construction pencils seem so much more meaningful. It may be that I saw him use them more frequently.
Construction pencils do run out of ink or dry up when you need to write something down. I carry a bunch of stuff in a small shoulder bag. Got the pouch when I was in Ireland at the Bushmills Distillerr. I always add some small paracord critters to mine, I carry a 6' tape similar to what you mentioned, in my pocket all the time. My pouch even has a Laser Distance measuring tool that's accurate to 1/32" in a 300' shot. I see a ton of guys on here that have all these "Go bags" and they show everything they carry for a survival bag in the woods.. Well, my small shoulder bag hangs off my CamelBak Mut I think it is. Got a couple of water purifiers in it and it has it's own 2 liter bag for water. I carry a Craftsman hand crank/solar power radio (Found it at a yard sale, never have seen one again..) Even have a GPS in there that doesn't require a cell phone signal. I always have my LeatherMan Mut in a pouch on my belt and that pouch also holds a 6" LuxPro flashlight and another Craftsman tool I haven't found again but, it's a folding box cutter knife and it used the flade with the hooks on them for cutting. My keychain in my pocket also has a few decent tools on it but, nothing too heavy as it'll wear out your key like in your ignition.. You've got a few treasures there thanks to your father. Always look for spare parts as sometimes things break.
Case Russlock, a very fine knife. Not so common, one of cases first designed for one handed operation, I enjoy mine. Seems we treasure the simple things the most. Thanks for sharing, not an easy thing to do with such fresh heartache, God Bless and keep you and yours sir.
This is an interesting glimpse into your Dad and his life. Love the old school, practical, no frills, just gets the job done kinda gear. Sounds like your Dad was a cool real man. Sending my condolences and all the best buddy.
Appreciate that man, and appreciate you stopping by!
Sorry for your loss. A good father is so under rated in today's world. I hope we can get back to a time where we recognize that.
I know how you feel about your dad's stuff; how it expresses his character and the memories attached to these items. I lost my father a long time ago (1993, I'm almost your dad's age) but every time I pick up one of his tools it triggers memories I want to hold onto and physically reminds me that he was here.

Funny what dads keep in their pockets and how much their sons care. My dad carried tons in his pockets, I still have all of what he carried. I know how hard it is to lose one, but their stuff and the memory of how they used it will keep them, him, alive always. Take care.
You too! Thanks for stopping by and thanks for your comment.
Thanks for sharing this. I lost my dad in 2019 and it honestly brings back great memories for me.
Appreciate your comment and you stopping by the channel.
Love this. My grandfather is older now and has begun to leave his edc items to me, he has a lot of grandkids (6) and he doesn't want debates between keeping certain items.
my grandfather has a gold cross pen and gold pencil exactly like that. he still uses it whenever he needs a pen :D
Still use my dad’s every day!
Nice. Honoring your father will bring you peace and comfort
Thanks for sharing your dads EDC. I have many of my dads tools since he passed. I treasure them. God bless them both.
Thanks so much and thanks for stopping by!
Live in Huntsville myself, so that was cool to hear. It’s great that you’re sharing your Dad’s legacy. Love it.
Awesome man. I love that city. Most of my family is still there. Thanks for watching!
I feel ya. I lost my mom and dad on Dec. 22, 90 minutes apart. It's hard to go through your dad's things but it is therapeutic. My condolences.
Condolences. Both, wow, sorry. It's enough one at a time.
I'm happy that you're able to have these items and connect with them so deeply. A really thoughtful and enjoyable video. God bless.
Thank you so much and appreciate you stopping by and commenting!
Thank you for sharing this. I lost my father to covid in Feb 21, days before his 67th birthday. He was a matter goldsmith and I've inherited all his tools and will keep his skills alive as best I can.

Thanx for sharing.

Nice! Lost my dad in 1990 at 67, great remembrance.
Appreciate that man, I know it was a long time ago, but very sorry for your loss as well. Thank you for your comment.

Hey thanks for sharing! Yes, Cross pens. He ALWAYS had one. Sounds like my dad and your dad would have gotten along. Thanks for your comment.
Seeing those Cross pen and pencil and money clip immediately brought back a flood of memories of my dad.

Thank you for sharing this with us. I lost my father in 2020. My mother gave me some of my dad's EDC items after the services. I cherish them.
Thank you for watching! Sorry for your loss as well. I know I’m still dealing with it a year later. Appreciate you stopping by.

My grandfather gave my dad a cross pen & pencil set for graduation, i still have them
This very well could have been the same thing. My dad had them for as long as I knew him.
Very sorry about your dad 🙁
Great job on the video. Thanks for sharing

Cross was always the Best and frequently used as, say, a graduation gift!
👍🏼
What a great way to honor your Father. Thank you for sharing.
Looking at any person’s edc is having a glimpse of his daily life. Nice way to remember him.
Nice memories - Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for your comment!

So sorry for you and your family's profound loss!!
Thank you for this glimpse into who he was by what he carried!
Thank you so much. Been over a year but I think about him all the time, especially when I carry his stuff.
👍 interesting gear. Cross Pens from Lincoln, RI (my hometown). Thank you for sharing. Sorry for your loss.

Appreciate your comment so much. Thank you for saying that and for sharing your story.
I love this. Amazing look at his edc. Those cross pens and pencils are not cheap. But they write like a dream!
Thanks for your kind words! You’re not wrong about those Cross pens… they’ve lasted a long time too!
Sorry for your loss, thank you for sharing!
To be fair, my dad passed away prematurely when I was 40, so don’t feel too old! He was only 67.
@@LandmanEDC Thanks. And I’m sorry for your loss. I lost my dad to a brain tumor at about the same age.
Sorry for your loss. I would have liked your Dad.
Hey thanks so much. Appreciate you being here.
I’m sorry about your dad. At least now you have a part of him!
The Case knife on the top right is called the RussLock model. It's still being made and sold today. The nickname of the knife is the Woody Woodpecker because when the blade is opened to a particular angle it looks like Woody. True story. Thanks for the great video!
Appreciate your comment and the info!
i am sorry for your loss , and this was an interesting look, thank you for sharing
Appreciate that, thank you for stopping by!
Great tribute to your dad and cool selection of practical items.
Glad you liked it! Appreciate it so much.
Thanks for sharing sorry for your loss!
Condolences. Great video. Worthy tribute video.
So sorry for the loss of your dad,too young!
Thanks for saying that, he was too young and so was I. Still miss him every day. Appreciate your comment.
I have my father's pocket knife and my grandfather's. I cherish them. I hope my son will cherish my EDC stuff. Always have knife!
I'm sorry you've experienced this. Thank you for sharing such an interesting glimpse into the life of someone you obviously loved and respected very deeply. Its a very honorable tribute to him. I hope it was comforting in a way to document this.
Thank you so much and thanks for stopping by the channel.
Firstly I'm so sorry for your loss, it's never easy losing someone we love.
I loved this video, I had to do similar when my dad passed and still treasure some of his items to this day.
Condolences for your loss. A simple traditional EDC kit. Cheers.
Thank you so much for watching.
Sorry for your lost... big hug and nice video... proper homage...
Thanks so much. And thank you for stopping by!
Thank you sir, and thank you for sharing your story!
@@LandmanEDC You are welcome and we look forward to enjoying your videos.
Thanks so much. And thanks for your comment. Cheers!
I'm truly sorry about the loss of your father
Thanks man. Still struggling. Thanks for watching and stopping by the channel.
Thank you for sharing these personal thoughts. When it comes down to real people it's not about that fancy titan Sebenza stuff, it's just about tools that get the job done. I feel sorry for the loss of your father and wish you and your family all the best.
Best regards from the Black Forest / South Germany.
Appreciate that very much. Thanks for stopping by!
I’m looking up Case Knives and found the one with the flip thing. Ordered it. This reminds me of my grandfather’s misc pocket collection. Cheers.
Cheers back at ya! Thanks for stopping by and watching.
Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for sharing! It's always neat to see what everyone carries. I particularly liked the tape measure for the pocketable size, and the Case 'Bone Handle' knife. It's interesting how it opens. You really have some treasures to hold onto. The Cross pen & pencil set with Field Notes and Blue Book are really cool.
Thanks! I sure do have some treasures to hand onto. Cheers, thanks for visiting the channel.
I am so sorry God Bless and look out for you and your family.
Great tribute to your Dad.
Thank you kindly.
That first case knife is sooo awesome 👍🏻
Hey thanks! And thanks for stopping by!
Sorry about your Dad, seemed from his EDC he was cool dude. Nice vid , my first of yours.
Appreciate your comment and I appreciate you stopping by!
That russlock case is stunning certainly well.used sorry about ur loss bud
Case Russlock, a very fine knife. Not so common, one of cases first designed for one handed operation, I enjoy mine. Seems we treasure the simple things the most. Thanks for sharing, not an easy thing to do with such fresh heartache, God Bless and keep you and yours sir.
Appreciate your comment and appreciate you stopping by, Mel. Cheers!
That Case knife is beautiful. Heirloom
Absolutely. Thanks for your comment!
