Otherwise I totally agree with everything. All cast members are amazing, beautiful costumes and fantastic set design as well. It feels like such a grand musical, which I've not seen in a while. Or at least besides Moulin Rouge, nothing that felt quite as grand as this. GO SEE IT!!!

I saw the original Broadway production of Crazy For You some 30 years ago now, and I am elated to not only hear that a revival of this brilliant play has hit the West End, but that it seems to have remained largely faithful to its original production with regard to its staging and choreography. Why mess with perfection? I'm just shocked this glorious piece of musical art has not been revived on Broadway since its original production. I think they did a concert version of it with Tony Yazbeck and Laura Osnes, but this deserves the full treatment.
Stro is a goddess and I was so happy to hear she had taken the helm of this show as both choreographer and director. What she does with this show, and almost everything she touches, is inspired. Breathtaking.
I recall walking out of the original production and feeling like I had maybe just witnessed what might become my favorite musical of all time. Have I seen some that I've liked, in their own way, as much? Perhaps. But this show STILL remains in my top 5. If not top 2. Depending on the time of day, I might still consider it #1.
And I've seen some 150 musicals on tours, in London, and on Broadway.
Crazy For You just leaves you smiling from ear to ear. From its overture, right up to the curtain call. And ust when you think you've seen something utterly remarkable in staging and choreography, Stro takes you on yet another wild and voluptuously layered ride as we move into the next glorious number.
And speaking of the curtain call, why stop when the show comes to an end? The curtain call is just as lively and fun. It leaves you with an extra (and huge!) exclamation point on the joyous ride you have just taken. As you walk out of the theater, you can't help but just shake your head in pure bliss over what you just witnessed on that stage.
I'm glad the younger generations are getting to experience this near perfect musical.
"I've Got Rhythm" is indeed the crown jewel. It brought my audience to its showstopping feet too. 30 years ago!
I'm glad that not much has changed.
I have been waiting for a long time to see this show return to the stage, and I just hope this transfers to Broadway.
And hopefully with Stemp attached. Maybe he can take home an Olivier, and a Tony.
He is beyond natural when it comes to performing. I saw him in Hello Dolly on Broadway, but this is a whole new level what he's doing here. And I've only seen clips of him..
His expressions, his movements, and his passion is evident in everything he does. So charming. And so damned talented. He truly loves what he's doing up there. And it is absolutely infectious.
    Go see this.

@@MickeyJoTheatreIt is indeed loosely (very loosely) based on Girl Crazy. If you watch the old film version of it with Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland you’ll see some similarities and there are some songs in common but there’s lots of differences too. There were songs from other Gershwin shows interpolated into the score and it sounds like the book for this new production has gotten some further revisions.

You think he can't get any better, then this comes along. I saw it 3 times in Chichester and then yesterday matinee in London and no doubt I'll be seeing it a few more times. It is a sheer joy from beginning to end. Yes, the humour, the songs, the brilliant choreography and what a great theatre to see it in. A wonderful homage to Gillian Lynne with the best seats in the west end, I'm sure. The cast are all brilliant. What energy! The never-ending tap - brilliant. Everyone needs to see this just once. Let it fade into obscurity where it belongs)

saw this one, amongst a load of old grannies. Now, i totally disagree with you - 5stars - beggers belief really does. I love theatre, live, the effort, the talent, behind scenes real magic, lighting etc etc and yep, i would happily watch this again no problem. BUT - 5star it is not. It is a 3 star. Really cannot understand how you came to this conclusion - you have seen many shows - really does puzzle me. Yes the leads are great, but really the lack of 'lighting/bland cheaplooking backdrops...YES!! I know..i getit..ive seen Singing in the rain, ive seen the 50's musicals -these are not dramatic, not Les Mis, but my goodness me, this is lacklustre stuff. Theres laughs, but the 'outback' settings and those involved are ..well..how can i put it...some working in Les Mis, Phantom can turn their hat to something like this...but those involved in this..i would stuggle to belive them in Les Mis etc...there..thats put it nicely enough. SO - go see it - full house when i went last week - some nice tunes, well performed, real laughs ( at times ) ( did he fail to catch the paper in your one? i sense thats always in there! ) - no real charm...it needed a NewYork setting somewhere..gliz etc...NOTHING like that....i think we saw different shows to be honest. 3stars from me no more, worth a watch, old fashioned humour / like walking threw door when someone else walks out scenerio... or in this case...dressing up like someone and the humour ( albeit obvious ) that goes with it. ( BTW, the smoke stank! really..i was close enough..it stank....in Phantom the smoke stank too...loses something when it stinks and on the stage is glamour - reality bites.

Crazy for You was the first ever show I did with HAODs @mickeyjotheatre. I cut my hand on a tin can end of Act 1 during I Got Rhythm. Fact.
