I’ve been in Toronto all of my 51 years, I am also an amateur paranormal investigator, and a psychic medium, which almost nobody believes, but believe me, I didn’t ask for these abilities and I didn’t want them, I was just born with them turned on full blast! But as the years have passed, I learned to use my abilities to help those lost souls find their way, and to rid the living from often frightening hauntings. In all of my investigations, old City Hall is indeed probably one of the most haunted buildings in the city, but I didn’t find that out for myself until later. My ex brother-in-law’s stepmother, was a court reporter, who would often take the secret passageway from The judges chambers, the quart room 33, the most infamous room in the building, which is now if I’m not mistaken closed to the public because it’s simply too dangerous and frightening for the staff that worked there. My ex brother-in-law‘s stepmother was taking this passage so the court room following behind the judge, when something grabbed the back of her sweater, and literally knocked her off her feet and down the staircase, breaking her ankle in the process, and the judge who was only a few feet in front of her, had his robe literally ripped off his body at the same time she went flying after being pulled over/down. She said that they both knew about the rules, but neither of them believed in a ghost, but they do now. Both of them absolutely refused to ever use that court room ever again, and they’re not the only ones. I was really curious to investigate, and it took quite a bit of convincing but I managed to get special permission to do an overnight investigation, where they literally locked me inside the building, as they had to keep all the doors locked. Unfortunately I never got to see anything that night, although I did hear quite a bit, and they were indeed other worldly voices that I had recorded on my Did you voice recorder and my video camera, but I did speak to a cleaning lady, who was all too happy to tell me about her experience after I told her why I was there. At the end of the day, the building, which is absolutely massive, is clean by a small army of cleaning ladies. One particular night, this lady I was speaking to and one of her coworkers we’re inside court room 33, doing the usual rounds clean the floors, windows, etc. She said that when I first walked into the room they both felt very uncomfortable, and south ice cold, but they just assumed it was a heating malfunction commoI but she said that within about 10 minutes after being in the room, out of the blue, and she stood beside her coworker, she said she felt what she swore was invisible hand holding on to her ankles so she couldn’t move, and The same happened to her coworker. She said that the moment they were frozen to the ground, they suddenly could see dark swirling shadow just circling around them on the open floor of the court room, making the most horrific sounds, screaming, as if they were being tortured. He said it started off relatively slowly, but within a few minutes, she said it was like being trapped in the vortex of a tornado, but at the same time they were feeling the most evil presence they had ever felt in their life. Both ladies started screaming for their lives, until Somerville coworkers and one of the security guards came running in to the room. As soon as somebody else entered the room everything stopped, and the lights came back on (forgot to mention that just a second or two before they felt someone grabbing their ankles, all the lights went dead in the room. So I did a little research, keeping in mind that this was before the Internet existed. After interviewing many of the staff, and going into the archives at the library, I soon discovered exactly what was happening. In the centre of this massive building that served us our City Hall up until 1965, there is a huge courtyard in the middle where they used to hang the prisoners when they were sentenced to death. The very last time anyone was hung after being sentenced to death, they were sentenced in quart room 33, the moment they were found guilty and sentenced to death, they were dragged out of the quart room screaming, bowing revenge on anybody who set foot in that room, and within an Half hour or so, both men were already dead, hanging from the gallows in the courtyard. I believe it was in 1963 if I’m not mistaken, but regardless of what year it was, they did exactly what they said they would do, and scared the living crap out of anybody that they could who dared enter that room. Apparently, it wasn’t uncommon for paranormal activity to occur during a trial with a room full of people, but the real activity was far more violent after hours when the building was empty and it was just the cleaning staff and security guards there. Both ladies absolutely refuse to ever go into that room again, and no judge or court clerk will ever go near that secret passage to get in to the room, so we just decided to close the room off completely, using some cheesy excuse about it not being structurally sound, but the real reason was because of the ghosts that would terrify anyone in there. Unfortunately I couldn’t get into the room because it was locked, And welded shut, so that nobody could ever go in there again. Just thought you might like to know that information, once a year there’s an event in the city called doors open Toronto where the public or allowed access to private places like this building, even standing outside the door you can feel something very powerful, if you get a chance give it a try and you’ll see exactly what I mean
There are things is this building, 100% true. But court room 33 does not exits. There are 101,102,103,121...135, and from A to R. There is not 33 or133 court room. I've worked for the city at OCH 14+ years.
I was so excited when I saw you had done another one of these videos. I love them! You do such a fascinating presentation. The details in the architecture are amazing. Loved this!
I absolutely love this old architecture, it’s so beautiful and intricate. That’s something I really miss about living in an older city, the character and history. Great job with this video and the information, really nicely done. My daughter and I love “haunted” old places with history and old stories attached to them. Thanks for sharing. Big like👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 Enjoyed from start to finish.
Ooooooh very eery! I love creepy buildings with history like this! Absolutely loved this video! Thank you for showing us Old City Hall. Really enjoyed hearing about it!
What a creepy, haunted building! How cool that you got to video tape some of it!! My in-laws would LOVE to visit this place! They love finding all those superstitious haunted places!! Haha, your editing was perfect for this, too! Truly made it feel super haunted just watching!!! So good you guys!
Great backstory on the haunted building! Beautiful construction and lovely color from the sandstone. Love the creepy special effects and music in the video! Chilling about courtroom 33. Thanks for sharing! Like 32
Wow what exciting! Also the music that you added to it, I really got goose bumps. But what a special building. I like that. Would also like to go once. It looks like the big castle of Belle and the beast, with that demomen on it. But in that movie she changed into beautiful vrues at the end. Very nice filmed. Thumb up and we wish you a very happy and loving day. 💖🍀🤗🙏
That was fantastic and a very interesting video, covering "One Of Toronto's Most Haunted Building - Old City Hall". I have enjoyed it too much. Thanks and regards!
Other creepy things that happens at OCH; the bathroom faucets would turn on/off automatically even though they're hand motioned controlled, the toilets would flush on it's own, again controlled by sensors, the phone in the clerks office would automatically go on speaker phone and dial out all on its own then hang up, recently in the clerk's office a chair slightly swirled and made a creaking sound and no one was around it.
How cool is this?! Very awesome haunted building, spooky and interesting all at the same time!! Thanks for sharing this cool video, really enjoyed watching and seeing this Old City Hall! :D
