Yeah. He is NOW underrated on defense. At least by the idiotic media. He was considered the best perimeter defender in the league from 86-93. And many considered him the best all around defender (any size) for stretches of that. Even from 95-98, he was elite.
40 years later he still has the most blocks and steals for a shooting guard ever. That's how crazy that dude was as a defender. One of the ways he made so many points as you can see was exactly his defense, so many break aways
He is not underrated as a defender. You are young. He's the best defensive guard EVER. He was such a prolific scorer that the young heads only know about his offense. He's the 🐐because he was just as dominant on defense as well. He didn't just win DPOY in 1988. He also led the league in scoring the same year with 37.1 ppg. That's right, he was the DPOY and the scoring champ in the same year. No one in NBA history has ever done that irrespective of their position. He's a 9 or 10 time 1st team all defender AND a 10 time scoring champ. He's the all-time shot blocking guard in NBA history. Let that sink in. The player who has the highest ppg EVER is also the leading shot blocker for his position. Respectfully, LBJ is not even on the same planet with MJ. No one is bruh. It's not even close, but as you continue to school yourself, you'll understand why trying to compare him to MJ is hilarious. No one today or ever plays like that. Great reaction and condolences to your family Youngblood.
Honestly, best play I saw from Jordan was on defensive when he was in college. Guarding a player on the perimeter, but he was so quick he was still in range to double the post. Turn, one step, block shot. Criminal how underrated the bulls were on defense.
He was not an underrated defender. It's just that people today don't know it. 9 times all defensive team, incl. one defensive player of the year award. The basis of his game was his defense.
Those two were like wolves on the hunt as the opponent’s PG brings the ball downcourt. Then add Ron Harper in the mix, and Dennis Rodman in the middle? Whoever they played against were already playing with heavy odds against them.
Damn bro. Sorry to hear about all the loss in your family this year. You are correct that tomorrow is not guaranteed. My advice is to remember the good times with those that have passed and forget about how their time ended. I’ve lost many but I don’t keep track of the days they ended and rather I still celebrate their birthdays.
Great reaction. I knew you would appreciate that. People forget that the Bulls were a defensive team especially with Rodman. The defense was overshadowed by the spectacular offense. Jordan was the first guard to have over 100 blocks and 200 steals in a season, all while leading the league in scoring and did it multiple times. Pippen did it too. Did you know that even though it's easier to score today that nobody has had a 3000 point season since Jordan? I know you hate to admit it but Jordan is the best player that you have ever seen. (Goat). There can only be one Goat. Magic Johnson was my favorite player but I can admit that Jordan is the Goat. It's ok dawg. It shouldn't be so painful for you......Sorry for your loss. Bless you and your family.
I agree ,Jordan is the only player in NBA history with 200 steals and 100 blocks . He accomplished that feat in back to back seasons but he accomplished that feat 3 times in total.
Def, used to love when bulls would come out at beginning of 3rd quarter and just lock everyone up full court and go on a 20-0 run. No team I’ve ever seen through the years did that shit! Was something to see that happen was amazing! Especially the 96-98 years that’s was a defensive killer team! Those guys could flip the switch and demolish opponents and put them in jail instantly and turn game around
Let's be honest, people pay attention to Offense. Jordan is THE GOAT at Scoring, so his Defense is Underrated. I bet if Jordan SUCKED on the offensive side and averaged 4ppg, he'd get way more credit for his Defense! Jordan is Easily one of the Top 5 GOATS on Defense!!! Number 1?
MJ can definitely be considered the top defender of all time at the SG position. Its debatable between him, Sidney Moncrief, Michael Cooper, Dennis Johnson, and Kobe Bryant.
The reason why defenders couldn’t get back in time to defend MJ is because he had a 4.3/40 yd dash kind of speed and he also had super quick reflexes and lightning fast first step…not to mention he was blessed with a 48 inch vertical and giant hands to palm the basketball as if it were a tennis ball…there’s so much to MJs overall game that if he were able to play in today’s NBA, he would destroy the league with his abilities and IQ…👍🎤🔥👽
He lost DPOY that year 2 Marc Gasol not Noah. The mistake wasnt Lebron not winning but Gasol being on 2nd team all defense. His numbers all season were better than Lebron and his team as a whole was better defensively
Respectfully, MJ was never underrated as a defender, he was an ELITE defender: Defensive player of the year. 9 time first team all Defensive(which only Kevin Garnett, Gary Payton and Kobe Bryant is tied with him in that category). MJ is number 2 in blocks from the guard position of all time. MJ is number 4 in steals of all time from any position. So when I say MJ was elite to great as a defender, that's not underrated, it's real, no cap! Condolences to you and your family bro, may God comfort your heart and strengthen you and your family. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
What kind of defender MJ was? He still played full defense @40 with a busted knee, while playing 82 games in a season. LeBum on the other hand? His nickname should be LeBystander. Btw Anthony Edwards looks like MJ, it's the other way around.
Yet I hear not all but a lot of LeBron fans saying he was a overrated defender and claimed he played in a watered down era...🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂....they smokin crack ..it's just that he was that good that he made them look slow..that's all..
In the early 90s, if a defensive player got to a spot first, planted both feet, and the offensive player ran into them, it was called an offensive foul. The defensive player had the right to that space. When an offensive player drove into the defender's chest, it showed that the defender had reached the spot first. Nowadays, those same situations are often called as defensive fouls or not called at all. I frequently see offensive players driving from the post, slamming into a stationary defender with their head down, and yet, the defender ends up getting called for the foul-even as they're knocked backward. It feels almost impossible to play solid defense now.
Jordan is the only player in history to win, defensive first team regular season MVP all star scoring champion nba first team nba champion finals MVP. In the same season and did it 4 different times (91,92,96,98)
Bulls down in last minute of game you never turned it off. What i think is funny is watching Jordan catch and fake with 1 hand.People act like its normal.I've never seen anyone do it and it separates Jordan even more. What did Jackson say difference between Kobe and Jordan was.His Mitts lol
Oh you conveniently forgot how much DEFENSE Kobe played!!! All the 1st team and 2nd teams Kobe was named to!! Oh but yeah that’s right all of Clutch sports wants you all to forget so that way Lefony(Lebron) can jump ahead of Kobe so you can have this so called manufactured goat debate.
Are you SERIOUSLY talking about players not running back on Defense?!!!! It wasn’t just a few players trying to play both sides it was almost everyone in the NBA trying to weather they were good at it it going to get embraced they still tried most of the time UNLIKE todays players that rarely do it especially so they don’t get embarrassed and put all over social media!! They care now about there image 24/7 only and how they look and will look if they try to play defense and of course get poster risesed!!!!
19:09 yeah, that call was a head scratcher. To me this is an example of how nba referees have weird whistles. I would ask that ref, What was the offensive player supposed to do differently?
Jordan was not an "underrated" defender. Its younger fans that don't know their history. Jordan is part of a handful of NBA players that were elite two-way players (that means offense and defense).
Nah, bro! Not underrated. We knew we were looking a the GOAT defensive guard. He was an absolute menace!!!! GOATS play both ends! 💪🏾 Your favorite 7-footer was not safe on either end. He was either getting dunked on rejected!!!
in a year in a half i lost my dog, which was my boy, then lost my mom, which was my best friend, then lost my wife, my other half. yep life sucks ass. now dad is swimming around the drain
Michael Jordan was robbed of dpoy in 1987, but he did not give up he kept hustleing the next season and won it. When LeBron got robbed of dpoy he stopped playing defense till this day. Lol
I remember one time in the finals game tied up Kevin Durant got the ball coming down the court LeBron switch and let JR Smith check him now Michael and I even put Kobe in there would have accepted that challenge with the game on the line
Not only did teams put plans together to defend him, but most teams ran their offense to the opposite side of the floor from Mike. Maybe the most disruptive player on the perimeter, ever. And Lebron is not even close to the on-ball defender, or running the passing lane
Gasol won DPOY over Lebron.... Gasol was also robbed of being on the 1st Team Defense. Media writers, etc vote for DPOY awards and coaches vote for Team Defense etc.... So no, lebron was not robbed. Gasol had better win shares, def rating etc.
I agree with what you're saying at 10:06 in a general sense but honestly... they weren't going to catch him on that play. They just weren't. You figure this is a 26 year old Jordan who ran a 4.3 forty with a twenty foot head start. he was gone.
He wasn't underrated they're just telling yall that he could only score. They're telling a bunch of lies and half truths to not let yall know how special he was. For some reason rewriting history is a thing now days. Evil is what it is.
You were thinking about Mark Gasol, but if anything, Mark got robbed of first team all defense. He was better at every single defensive metric then Lebron
@𝐍𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐚𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐀𝐂𝐓: in the 10 seasons that MJ led the league in scoring, he also led his position in Defensive W/S and was 1st Team All Defense 9x. So, in MJ, you had someone who was not only the most dominant offensive player in the league, but was also the most dominant defender at his position, with one of those seasons seeing him being named DPOY. Also, during that span, he racked up multiple seasons of having 200+ steals and 100+ blocks in the same season and is the ONLY player in history to do that in back-2-back seasons. Are you kiddin' me?!! Who does that?!! 😆 The defensive side of the ball is what ultimately separates him from these pretenders today that they compare to him. Simply put: it's laughable to compare them to him. They just simply don't come close at all... There isn't a single player in the history of the modern era, that you can honestly say has simultaneously been THAT dominant on both sides of the ball, over an entire decade like MJ was. You just can't (and won't be able to) find that degree of sheer dominance from anyone over the last 20+ years.
My condolences for everything you have had to endure lately young man. Great video as always. Discussion has to be for second place, the diatance between this alien and everybody else is just to big
There are huge glaring differences between MJ & LeBron, I'm not sure how LeBron is even in the conversation. To me it's not because LeBron is the closest, to me it's because he once called himself the greatest ever an people said "hey yeah, he is the greatest now" an the media pushing that narrative to try an boost ratings. I've watched both in real time an LeBron is an all time great but nowhere near MJ. When MJ was playing we all knew at the beginning of seasons who was going to win it all, an we were right year after year. There simply was no one close when it became a war, an only Kobe has come close simply by copying MJ's game an by nature having MJ's drive to win. It still wasn't enough. I believe MJ still owns the highest vertical ever in the NBA at 48 inches though it may have been passed by now. But if it has I haven't heard about it.
Leflop is nowhere near MJ level on both sides of the ball. That year he won defensive player of the year and league MVP in the same year. He is the only player in the NBA to have the award in the same year. That's GOAT status
Now that you've arrived here you're going to have to add the prolific offensive machine to this defensive masterclass you've just witnessed. That is both sides of the court consistently from beginning to end. That's what your goat needs to be to be better than MJ The longevity is not a benifit for Lebron it's actually putting more and more distance between him and Jordan simply becuase he's still chasing mjs records If Jordan played 20 years Well we all know what that'd mean for Lebron in terms of numbers and accolades🤷🏽♂️ Respectfully 😬
apologies for how I say the following in all caps but I feel it must be said...DONT EVER MENTION ANTHONY EDWARDS IN THE SAME SENTENCE AS JORDAN. EVEN COMPARING "HOW THEY LOOK THE SAME OR SIMILAR." I understand completely when u meant. that "their looks" are similar. but to me, who has seen Jordan. seen him play. seen him get better year after year. defense. shooting. almost always something different drives to the hoop. it was NEVER "the same old." ALMOST each night, Jordan showed you something that quite literally got you out of your seat and even exclaim "how in the fuuu did he do that?!" but u know one of the biggest differences between MJ and "antman?" jordan never trashed what proceeded him. he never called players from the 60s "plumbers." he never said he was better than Kareem. he never said magic or bird were average players. and he never said the following... “I didn’t watch it back in the day so I can’t speak on it,” Edwards said. “They say it was tougher back then than it is now, but I don’t think anybody had skill back then. [Michael Jordan] was the only one that really had skill, you know what I mean? So that’s why when they saw Kobe [Bryant], they were like, ‘Oh, my God.’ But now everybody has skill.” pure and simple...edwards is a scrub. a pathetic scrub. no class. no respect to what proceeded him. in short...he's a pos. how you ask? he says it himself..."I didn't watch it back in the day so I can't speak on it." then like the POS HE IS, THE DUMBFUUK SPEAKS ON IT. he had zero class and zero awareness. he'll never be 10% of the player of what Jordan was. Jordan respected and learned from the past. THATS WHAT MADE HIM THE GOAT 🐐 🐐 🐐 🐐 🐐 🐐
Please stop misusing words! GOAT stands for greatest of ALL TIMES! Not era! It sounds ridiculous "greatest of all times for his era"! You may use "one of the greats" or whatever but there is only one real GOAT and that's MJ! You keep repeating this "plumbers" narrative when everyone was slow as a turtle and now we have jets. Stop that BS please and watch more real basketball! Did you notice how MJ stole the ball back court, passed and in the split of 3 seconds scored at the other end after Paxon's miss? Don't tell me you have seen anyone especially Lebron do that in "modern most skilled and athletic" era! If you can't appoint a GOAT because you have watched like 10% of the NBA since its existence there are people that have watched it all and can make a more informative comparison based on what they witnessed! And they almost a 100% agree that MJ is the ONE! I get people being biased because of the hype of the media but i will ask you this: MJ was a SG who not only dunked on all great centers with physical contact but also blocked them(this video is just a small snippet of MJ's def), how many bigs did Lebron block? And how many of them did he dunk on? Dunking on a back pedaling small guy is not a reason to pump your biceps and crown yourself! But Lebron does it and sometimes even if there is none protecting the rim. Is this a sign of a good basketball or a display of little self-esteem therefore losing more than you win? And that's the difference between being respected(though hated) while winning and lectured(by real players like Kobe) and losing. I don't remember MJ being lectured by anyone or disrespected without paying a price. Lebron is not that because he's never been the greatest player of any generation. And i'm not talking about his losing record in playoffs and finals. I'm talking about his performance and effort he put on the court! It's not a shameful thing to lose a playoff series, but it is shameful when you play like a 7th grade schoolgirl, and there are plenty of examples of him just quitting. And that's not a GOAT material. Let me rephrase that: if you believe in Lebron so much would you bet let's say 25% of your income on his games? Because i never doubted MJ and the bulls for the exception of '95 when he returned after an year and a half away from bball. Hope you read my comment and try to retrospect a bit! I would not care write all that down but you seem like a sensible guy and that's why i made the effort. Not only to boost at least a bit your channel but to make you think and research a bit more. Good luck!
You're cool but freeing someone who is murking people is crazy. Terrible for our community. Those people have to go. They bring us all down. No dignity as a people.

FYI: Your wingspan is equal to your height
Pippen and Jordan are the best defenders I’ve ever seen. They used to stop teams from scoring double digits in quarters
And when they personally together put traps on players it was called “The Doberman Defense”.
Jordan was the glitch in The Matrix and then he became the Matrix
MJ was not underrated on defense he was known to play both ends of the court no plays off
Yeah. He is NOW underrated on defense. At least by the idiotic media. He was considered the best perimeter defender in the league from 86-93. And many considered him the best all around defender (any size) for stretches of that. Even from 95-98, he was elite.

Lebron is nowhere near the defender MJ was. Lebron was one of the worst defenders in the league in 2019. He hasn't made a defensive team in decade
Those two were like wolves on the hunt as the opponent’s PG brings the ball downcourt. Then add Ron Harper in the mix, and Dennis Rodman in the middle? Whoever they played against were already playing with heavy odds against them.

𝐅𝐀𝐂𝐓: in the 10 seasons that MJ led the league in scoring, he also led his position in Defensive W/S and was 1st Team All Defense 9x.
The defensive side of the ball is what ultimately separates him from these pretenders today that they compare to him.
All NBA first team Defense 9 times I think
Mj the best at everything except being pipped like Lebum does by diddy 😂😂
Now that you've arrived here you're going to have to add the prolific offensive machine to this defensive masterclass you've just witnessed. That is both sides of the court consistently from beginning to end. That's what your goat needs to be to be better than MJ
The longevity is not a benifit for Lebron it's actually putting more and more distance between him and Jordan simply becuase he's still chasing mjs records If Jordan played 20 years Well we all know what that'd mean for Lebron in terms of numbers and accolades🤷🏽♂️
Respectfully 😬
As someone who has watched LBJ and MJ entire careers
They are not like this
It's not close
Its propaganda
There's only one goat
apologies for how I say the following in all caps but I feel it must be said...DONT EVER MENTION ANTHONY EDWARDS IN THE SAME SENTENCE AS JORDAN.
So that’s why when they saw Kobe [Bryant], they were like, ‘Oh, my God.’ But now everybody has skill.”
pure and simple...edwards is a scrub. a pathetic scrub. no class. no respect to what proceeded him. in short...he's a pos. how you ask? he says it himself..."I didn't watch it back in the day so I can't speak on it." then like the POS HE IS, THE DUMBFUUK SPEAKS ON IT. he had zero class and zero awareness. he'll never be 10% of the player of what Jordan was. Jordan respected and learned from the past. THATS WHAT MADE HIM THE GOAT 🐐 🐐 🐐 🐐 🐐 🐐
This video is why no one can ever call lebron james the goat
Sydney Moncreif was the reigning DMVP MJ rookie year...first game vs him MJ abused the DMVP. 2 Guard as a DMVP do a lil more homework
LBJ IS GREAT ! BUT KOBE COME BEFORE HIM AND NO ONE CAN EVER DO WHAT MJ DONE AND BIRD IS NUMBER 2/3 ALSO .
Good luck!
Done you talk too much! I’m out! Jordan is the GOAT
You're cool but freeing someone who is murking people is crazy. Terrible for our community. Those people have to go. They bring us all down. No dignity as a people.
He was guarding nobodies. Stop the cap.
Do research idiot. You clowns expose yourselves with dumb comments like this. Stop being lazy and watch games. It’s free.
