00:00 Arromanches 00:40 Colchester Castle 04:06 Medley: Queens Company (04:10), The Old Gray Mare (04:59), Nijmegen Company (06:07), Inkerman Company (06:41) 07:47 Trafalgar 10:19 When The Guards Are On Parade
George Davie: When you are in a column of a battalion of infantry marching behind the band you don’t see the lead drummers. It’s what you hear that counts. A Royal Marine band job is not to head a battalion of infantry, so the measured beat is different and not so pronounced. A Brigade of Guards band anytime as they are the best.
I had the opportunity to watch the Major Generals Review. As I walked down the Mall with the Massed Bands I think I was walking three metres ahead of the Uploader. And yes it is a big event which I recommend a lot! And the Guards are marching in a fast step!
why ruin a great march like the queens company by tacking a corny tune like the old grey mare onto it....the trio of queens company is a fine bit of music !
I regret to say that I was a little disappointed by this performance. The marching for the Guards division was a big let down! If they need to check how it's done look at the RM Band beating retreat last year. Sorry, but tourists come to see the Guards in their red uniforms and I think they let themselves down on this one.
@@normankitching6372 I m fully aware that it was rehearsal, but whenever the bands are in the public view there is no rehearsal. They represent Britain's armed services every time they appear in public therefore their basic marching nd dressing should be pretty good at all times. I love watching all military bands and I am sure Trooping the Colour will be superb. I am just saying that on this occasion I was disappointed with the basics.
George Davie ; I much prefer a Brigade of Guards Band over a Royal Marine Band for the reason the a Guards band has more the martial beat. It is more suited to head a battalion of infantry and I have much experience of that having served in infantry regiment marching out of barracks in FSMO. A Royal Marine much reminds me of a marching orchestra. Fine musicians but for me they do not cut the mustard.
@@Peter-lm3ic In my 'youth' lol I was solo drummer in a Boys Brigade bugle band so I am probably subconsciously bias, preferring the drums out in front.

No need to apologise. You done well. Wading through those crowds must be a nightmare?! 😬
My favourites were Colchester Castle and Trafalgar.
Would love to get a recording of the massed bands playing Arromonches March. A fan in Canada
