I have good parents, but they never tried to connect with me on this level until I was almost old enough to drink. I am both envious of your children and excited for them that they have an adult who takes care in learning about and sharing in their interests. If I become a parent, I want to be like you!
I'm almost old enough myself, and no matter how much joy I'm showing, it doesn't seem they're interested. Tori and Gwen are who I want to be as a parent. I don't want them to feel like I did
My mom aged our relationship with me once she saw how my dad infantilizing me destroyed our relationship. I live with my dad because he’s sick. I’m well into my adult years and he can’t decide if he wants to treat me like a child or not. He flip flops back and forth between giving me respect and not. He never tried to connect with me growing up, only when he realized he wasn’t going to wake up and be healthy one day did he actually put in even the smallest effort. Even now he has to consciously think about how to treat me as an adult, which he’s usually too wrapped up in self pity to do. He’s never genuinely given me an apology, put forth effort to know or respect me as an adult or a human, or even tried to see anything from my perspective. It makes it really hard to feel bad for him or even continue to live here and help him. The only good thing out of it was finding people like Tori and Gwenna and finally being exposed to a healthy dynamic. At the very least I know when I do have kids I won’t screw them up like I was. At least my mom will be allowed around my kids, she’s done the work and is open to learning.
@@Tori.Phantom some of my best childhood memories are going to Barnes and Noble with my dad and little sister and getting the new Junie B book! your kid will remember that forever 🫶🏽
I love how involved you are with their learning, and their interests! Its only as an adult that my dad had the fime to listen to me talk to him about some of my interests. Sometimes I'm purely info dumping at him, but the fact that he lets me and gives me the time of day to try to understand, to engage with me, is so very important to me now.
idk if you'll see this but it'll be really cool to see your portraits individually!! like some closeups or smth?? your art is very good and cool n i love art!!! (Only if that's okay w you of course)
I tried to show my mom Hamilton and she didn't even make it 10 minutes into the show before losing interest and pretty much just sitting on her phone until I turned it off. I was super disappointed because she had requested bonding time since my little brother was off somewhere and I had really wanted to show her it. I'm happy you're connecting with your daughter over Hamilton and just in general.
You need to keep these and (if there is not any personal info) put the picture and facts either on a blog or sell them so other parents can put them in their own kid's lunches! I can see this being a really big hit! I know I would have loved these when I was younger!
I refused to use a reusable lunch box for YEARS in elementary school because my dad would draw on my brown paper lunch bag before sending me off with it and I didn't want him to stop making drawings for me This very much reminds me of that :)
No wonder you kids are so talented! Tori, you are an amazing artist! Not only can you paint clown flower, beautiful sun rays, colorfully dye your hair, and apply amazing makeup... but you can do portraits too?!?! Save some talent for the rest of us! Ugh, I feel the inadequacy seeping into my pores.
So wicked! When my boyfriend started his first 9-5, i made him small greeting cards (cardstock, stamps, borders, stickers, calligraphy, etc ) every morning. I do them less now because we both work and im not up as late but, doing them is such a simple way to let him know I'm thinking of him and get my creativity going.
Yes! I have been doing little noted in her snack for school since kindergarten.. she got a little "embarrassed" by them in 3rd grade..so I stopped for a bit. Until the first day of 4th grade.. I snuck one in with a Dr Suess "Oh, the places you'll go" She loved it! And told me she wants one every day..but now I'm making them intentionally cringe. Tuesdays note was a drawing of a pretzel with "don't be salty, it's Tuesday"
Those look wonderful. Please do one about Sojourner Truth. She’s my favorite woman in history and did amazing things. She was the first woman to win a case in the Supreme Court. She was an abolitionist. She fought for all women to have rights and was just so awesome.
I should have known this, but its no wonder your daughter is an artist! Im an artist myself and ive had a good friend teach me about fogure drawing, proprotions, and shading. Those sketches look awesome!!! And we know yoire incredibky creative with paints and gradients but this is a different medium. Nice going Tori!! And it's awesome you create these sketches to teach them things they may not learn in school :)
I like this. I think it would be fun to have historical figure trading cards. You can make them. Teachers like me would give the kids a card whenever they learned about a new historical figure. Y the time they get to high school they would have a huge deck
Just an Idea, but Ibfeel like you could sell those. Like do one side with a little picture, and who it is, and 1 or 2 facts ont he other side, and a place for their parent to write a note. And sell them a little lunch box notes!
In 1753 the Haudenosaunee people gave George Washington the nickname Conotocaurius which means "Town Destroyer" in Seneca. Its probably hard to make age-appropriate but he wasnt a wholy good person. Being a General at the time came with atrocities.
See this this is a good mom you're the mom I wish that I had growing up instead of the one that I actually did because maybe had I ended up with you as a mom or somebody like you as a mom I probably wouldn't be as f***** up in the head as I am and my life probably would not have sucked half as much as it has because having a mom that puts off doing laundry because she's so busy doing custom Doodles and notes to teach me about history because she knows it's something I really enjoy rather than putting off laundry because she's too busy doing the morphine her doctor prescribed her that she became addicted to well-being zonked out on a mattress on the living room floor is something I've always wanted... Now I know that the drug addiction was not my mother's fault I know that addiction is a disease that is really hard to get rid of and I know that it is a problem a problem that needs medical help I know that now as the 27-year-old me but the 10-year old me didn't know that really really needs to know that and so much f****** more.

Your kids will never wonder whether you care about and love them. So happy for them and you!
Wow, those are looking great Tori!
You're really good at drawing faces do you have any tips to share?
this is such a wonderful thing to do for your children !!
i love junie b so much, collected the books as a kid.
I LOVE reading them to my kiddo. They’re so funny
@@Tori.Phantom some of my best childhood memories are going to Barnes and Noble with my dad and little sister and getting the new Junie B book! your kid will remember that forever 🫶🏽
I LOVE that you do this for them! You're an awesome mama and as others have said, your kiddos will NEVER wonder if you loved them!

They're like trading cards! That's so cool!
That’s a really cool and cute idea for notes! I might try to do this for some of my friends!
You’re such a good artist. And a really great mom.
What a beautiful way to show your daughter’s love ❤ Tori, you are an amazing mom!
THIS IS AMAZING

What a fun way to expand your artist muscle.
SO COOL!!!
I still have a “book” my mom made. Drawings in pencil with the name of the object written underneath. It’s my most treasured childhood heirloom.
LOVE your tee!! 🐀
I love you❤

omfg i loved junie b jones
I keep all of the notes from my mom. I just have a few. A lot of them are on paper plates and usually just say "love you!"
HAMILTON!!!!!
I blame my choir teacher for my obsession with the musical
That's super cool
amazing and so thoughtful but side note i'm going to go find and buy that shirt
I have a lot of laundry to do, too. And dishes. It never ends.
Sometimes, I feel like the laundry mat would be a lot better. That way, we get it all done at once. 🎉
I need a friend like you.
Parenting sometimes takes us in cool and unexpected directions.
I love your shirt 😍 and your kids will always remember those special cards, not you doing their wash ✌️💚

I love your top, I aswell enjoy the rats
I need to start doing this!..... but my son is 4.....😢
My first response those unschooling moms could never. But man this is something that unschooling could do, if they did it right.
I left notes but never anywhere on this level, mostly cuz her artostic talent at a young age far surpassed my own. 😂
Great video but please please please where can i find the shirt!
I LOVE HAMILTON💖💖
Wow those could be great presidential or historical figures flash cards for tests. I see more art in your future here lol
Just an Idea, but Ibfeel like you could sell those. Like do one side with a little picture, and who it is, and 1 or 2 facts ont he other side, and a place for their parent to write a note. And sell them a little lunch box notes!
Her teacher ever sees that and you're in trouble
Stop being so cool, you’re making me look bad! (Jk! I just can’t draw worth a darn. My notes would have stick figures)
Favorite thing about George Washington. They tried to reanimate him after he died
❤
The tables have turned. You are back at school too, learning history facts (that is not a bad thing tho not at all)
Do you do this every day? When do you give them their note?

Staaaaahp, this is so cute! 🥹
Can I think I'm weird but I thought getting tucked in and getting lunch notes was a thing made up for cartoons until like a month ago ... I'm 15😢
History trading cards!!!
Meanwhile she won’t cook dinner half the time or drive me literally anywhere -_-

Not so fun fact: Edgar Allan Po had something(not so censorship friendly) going on with his 13 jears old cousin.
Given how young they are, what level of whitewashing are we going with here?
What?
why do you talk like that
❤
