Whitney, Thank you for all of your great videos. Would you recommend having all 4 wisdom teeth extracted in a regular dentist office instead of a dental surgeon office?
Got my top wisdom teeth out I'm on day 5 don't be scared you will feel way better my headaches and chest pains went away asap don't be scared of getting the wisdom teeth out God bless everyone
To anyone who is in the same place dying and wanting the process to go faster and searching for answers, it sucks but it takes time, my best advice is work your way up to chewing, I was scared the first couple of days but I finally slowly started to chew softer foods and it helped a lot with the tightness and crap, it’s like physical therapy, don’t forget to do the salt water rinses by the way, they help a lot in making sure it doesn’t get infected or anything. Have a good day, drink water and get some sleep.
I have to ask. I started eating slightly-solid food in the 5th day, and my jaw feels tight (or sore?). I guess this is normal since we didn't chew for a few days, and the jaw muscle just needs awakening?
My boyfriend just recommended this video since I got them out this morning and my orthodontist didn’t prescribe meds until just today and barely gave instructions on how to take care of myself aside from “no straw, no crunchy/spicy foods, no sports or smoking” So thank you for this!
@@dwaynebarnett-sp7qk I'm not sure, I don't really smoke but I would assume that you'd be goiod to do so when the orthodontist clears you for straws (I'm not a doctor though).
I got it done 5 days ago. My pain only peaked for couple hours and I didn’t fell pain overnight when I sleeping. I took ibuprofen 4 hours after my surgery. Bought a case of protein milk, yogurts. Days 2 I only ate yogurts. Day 3 I ate porridge and broth. Day 4 I started eating seedless fruit. Day 5 I had some coffee because I’m so caffeinated. Now I’m pain-free. My surgery is successful beyond my expectations
@@raquelshanks9852 it depends on how you feel, and your recovery speed… I would go easy on day 5 but literally on day 6, I can tell you yes I ate crunchy cereal with milk and it’s so yum lol
@@tienvdoan the cereal didn't open up the wound when you bit on it? I'm on day 3 and when I eat food I try to swallow it like a pill so I don't accidentally chew food on my wisdom teeth wound
@@masosoup4559 Your speed of recovery depends on your very first days. DO NOT eat chew or do anything but liquid food (gotta be patient first then it’d pay off). On day 5th or 6th, you can do a “chewing test…” take it easy and eat soft foods and fruit on first week, I would eat something like soft like soup or porridge on 5th or 6th. Then go next level eat pasta and noodle on day 7th and 8th and go up and up… I understand you must be super hungry for couple days. Only you know how you feel but on after first week, we should be able to eat our normal diet.
i’m on day 5 right now and I am feeling so much better. Days 1 and 2 were the absolute worst. My swelling was insane but has almost gone completely down since. Cant wait to go back to eating solid foods again 😂
Hey everyone! I wanted to share my experience. I got my wisdom teeth removed at age 40 on 4-17-23. Surgery was around 10:30am so not quite 24 hours yet. No pain at all, even on yesterday. I’m so grateful for that as I was a nervous wreck on yesterday plus I suffer from hypertension. I took my first pain medication about an hour postoperative. I also chose the deep sedation option as well. I wasn’t fully asleep. I felt a lot of tugging on my right side as that was the difficult one to pulled as it was growing sideways. I will say, I had a lot of bleeding so I changed the gauze after an hour and bite down more. I kept releasing the fluids that build up in my mouth, by letting it just drip out no spitting. After about 3 hours or so, all the bleeding stopped. I slept fine. I woke up a little swollen and applied the cold pad. I take my medicine 7/3/11 every 8 hours on schedule. So far so good! Good luck everyone. You got this!! I’m eating applesauce, yogurt, Jello, ice cream, sipping veggie broth and eating oatmeal. I may try mashed up baked fish later in the week.. I’m already sick of eating this stuff, lol
@@kaa815 oh no! Sorry to hear this. I pray you get immediate relief🙏. I’m not having any pain, just soreness and swelling.. This is day 4.. try taking your medication on a schedule and salt rinse to keep your mouth clean. I’m lightly brushing not the areas where the stitches are… I had soft fish and grits for dinner!!
I got all 4 out today at 830am and I'm 40. Had similar experience with the gauze. Bleeding appears to be minimized now. I am just hyperaware when I eat even applesauce and mashed potatoes not to do any sucking or really have it go to those areas. Drinking water fine. I think I will take it easy with food today and start tomorrow with more regular eating with soft foods. Taking ibuprofen with antibiotics and pain is manageable so I'll definitely be sticking with the schedule plus I bought a head wrap ice pack from Amazon that makes it easy to ice both sides at the same time. Thanks for sharing your experience!
@@angeladaniels2347 You’re very welcome and I ate very light the first day also. You got this! If memory serves me right, day 5-6 was good with no swelling! I even even cut down on pain medication because it made me nauseous. I only took the ibuprofen every 6-8 hours as needed for discomfort. Wishing you a speedy recovery..
@@caseycazares yeah nurses talked to me with masks on telling me the instructions and I couldn't understand anything and I couldn't even talked back to say what?🤣 this my third day I feel better. Not great but better👍
I’m 26, got all 4 wisdom teeth out yesterday, and honestly doing great. I just got laughing gas and numbing shots. Dentist sutured 2 of my extraction sites. Took the high dose ibuprofen when I could feel the numbing shots wearing off. After surgery, I started off with using gauze until there wasn’t fresh blood anymore and there formed clots on the extraction sites (dark reddish brown clump of blood covering the extraction sites). Didn’t eat until about 2-3 hrs later. Gently poured water in my mouth to get red of excess blood and let it pour out (no spitting the first day). Minimal movement. At 24hrs now, have been taking it easy, eating icecream, other soft foods like lentils and pudding, I’m still doing well with recovery! Still doing a few daily activities. Little blood oozing here and there but for the most part it has stopped. The worst part I would say is the gauze but that’ll only be a one day thing for you hopefully! I was prescribed steroids for swelling and higher dose ibuprofen. No crunchy/hard foods. Try eating with your front teeth and to break food, try squishing with your tongue at the roof of your mouth. Cleaning wise, No aggressive swishing but the next morning still brushing my teeth around the areas that aren’t near the extraction sites and putting in and letting water leave my mouth freely along with the toothpaste. GOODLUCK!!
If you’re reading this, and about to get yours out, i wouldnt be scared, I was terrified, got all 4 of mine out and there was nothing to be worried about. I know everyone might not have the same expeirence but heres mine. I’m on day three with absolutely no pain and can eat pretty good already. Also Sleeping just fine. Just do everything your doctor says and take your medicine and you will be fine. had hardly any swelling. I literally have no pain at all from all three days and I got no prescription narcotics, just ibuprofen and antibiotics.
@@TexasGirl22 i got mine out last friday and already mostly healed. i ate kystals today for lunch with no problem and went back to work today all good. still no pain or swelling hardly at all and i had to wear a respirator all day on my face. just rinse with salt water after eating and take it slow eating and drinking stuff for the first few days. and kept my head proped with 2 pillows while sleeping on my back. its not near as bad as i thought it would be all in all.
@@jakediminico332 bro im telling you, i was so stressed for literally nothing. it was a cake walk and im not good with pain usually especially anything dental. if i can do it trust me anyone can

broo same aha i got all 4 of mine out 2 days ago, it’s shitty not being able to smoke (been vaping for a couple years) but it’s actually been really good for me, pushing 72 hours and nothing too bad has happened
I hope everyone's healing is going smoothly! I'm a few weeks away from the one-year mark from getting all four of mine out 😅 Just remember, you only have to do it once!
This is THE BEST post tooth extraction video in the game. Straight to the point and extremely descriptive answering ALL questions that one would have. 👍💙👍
I’ve been watching a lot of your videos lately. I just got all 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted this morning and all of your tips in this vid are just about almost spot on from what the Dental Surgeon instructed and very helpful. You also threw in a few more good reassuring tips in there for me as well. Thank you so much for this video! You are great at what you do! 🙏🏾
@@wenmoves just had all 4 of mine taken out a few hours. Just got a shot that numbed the area. It was not a great experience but I think it was just more me being incredibly anxious. Didn't feel any pain but I could feel them putting pressure on it.
What a great video!!! I’m 17 and getting my wisdom teeth out this week and I’m honestly terrified not for the surgery but more so the recovery!! This video definitely helped me feel better and have rest assured that everything will be ok!! Keep up the amazing work!!! :)
@@onyxtheprotogen7907 it was super easy, tbh days 5 and 6 were the worst for me. just get a ton of smoothies and antibiotics ready and youll be fine dont stress about it
I had impacted Wisdom teeth that were still 100% in the bone, and all I was told is "no work/school about 5 days, no extraneous activities for 2-3 weeks, no sneezing-blowing nose-forceful spitting as top teeth removal had some small holes in sinus area, and take these pain pills and anti-biotics". This video helped me out, thank you.
I am 3 days post surgery, got 4 wisdom teeth removed, local anesthesia and all were impacted, honestly it’s going pretty good, surgery was very easy, and as long as you take the medicines on time you won’t be in pain, but hey I just gave birth 3 weeks ago so that’s probably why I don’t find this pain bad at all, compared to giving birth this is nothing 😅😅😅
Got my wisdom teeth out yesterday… I’m got all 4 out, this pain is crazy I’m glad I got them all out at once so that I don’t have to go back to experience the same thing. Been eating vanilla ice cream, danimals yogurt, and mash potatoes 😭😭
Could you talk the day after? I have important class the day after the surgeon. And I have to read and write and concentrate. And three days later I have an exam. Please tell me if i will be able to do this. 😭
I got my top two out a few days ago. Local anaesthetic. It was NOT BAD AT ALL. Yes you hear the cracking of the tooth dislodging from the bone (mine were impacted) but it´s quick and painless. Recovery has been great, barely any pain, no swelling and now at day 3 i´m eating salmon and eggs just fine. I think the key is a wonderful oral surgeon who knows how to work the jaw and get those teeth out efficiently! My advice is don´t read all the negative stuff online, I was like that and was panicking beforehand but i´m so surprised about my experience, it was great!
Just got two removed plus a cavity. Day one of recovering! Please pray for me! So far just uncomfortable but no pain. Just staying on top of my medication and resting.
I bought one of those small toothbrushes made for toddlers - extra soft bristles. It really helped me clean my teeth post extraction without hurting the extraction site where I had stitches too.
Got my wisdom teeth removed 2 days ago, and I am in immense pain… my swelling is beyond bearable, and I can hardly open my mouth to drink water, let alone take meds for pain. I got all 4 taken out, and this is so painful compared to some of the other things I’ve done. Supposed to go back to work in a day, definitely not happening. This video definitely helped!
How long did it took you to heal? I'm on day 6, got all 4 extracted, the lower ones were impacted. As far as I can see all 4 places we're sutured. First three days the pain meds weren't really working for me so I was in excruciating pain. By now at least the swelling is down, and I only have some discomfort on my lower jaw on the right side, I'd say it's a 4/10 . Still can't fully open my mouth though and I'm absolutely tired of consuming pretty much liquids 🙃
@@kiaralysc.m.9857 took me about a month to fully heal and be completely back to normal. I couldn’t take the pain meds because they made me puke- not a pleasant experience I’ll tell ya that. Wasn’t able to eat solid foot til about 4 weeks later. Its different for everyone tho haha.
@@wonderofmen6261 To be completely honest, not one bit. Just numbness of the jaw the rest of the day, but nothing bad. I was put under anesthesia & went out like a light before I knew it. Woke up & the procedure was done. It felt like I was under for about 5-10 min when it actually took about an hour to complete. Very pleasant experience with the surgeon I went to. :)
I had my upper wisdom tooth removed 24 hours ago with local anesthetic. I felt absolutely no pain only the pressure as the dentist took it out. The numb went away about 2-3 hours later and I took my first painkiller to avoid the start of the pain. About 2 hours later I went sleep and I had a pain free full night sleep. I was not in pain, only discomfort and the fear of the big pain that everybody talks about. Also my spit was full of blood even 4 hours post surgery. In the morning I still had the discomfort but no pain. Since it is almost 24 hours now, even the discomfort starts to go away but of course I am very gentle with it, I turmix down everything that I eat. But I already ate so much tbh :D I take ibuprofen as painkiller in every 8 hours with the antibiotics. I hope it also will be fine in the rest of my recovery.
I got 2 wisdom teeth out yesterday at 30 years old, still waiting for this insane pain everybody had me scared about beforehand 😂Didn't feel anything during the surgery (I was awake with injections) Been taking Ibuprofen every 6 hours and feel fine!
@Subi I got mine removed about 8 hours ago and it became really painful couple hours after extraction.. But after pain medication I just feel fine hehe
Just had my other 2 removed earlier today, my dentist had to battle with my lower right one, lots of drilling and tugging but I was too numb to feel anything. Feeling fine now just eating ice cream and taking Ibuprofen. Hope it goes well for you guys!
I just booked an appointment to get them removed with local anesthetic instead of falling to sleep. Falling asleep gives me anxiety, not the procedure. Everyone says the noise and cracking torments them if they stay awake… did you regret not sleeping?
I don't have my wisdom teeth removed but I had a tooth extraction today and this is the similar steps I need to follow also I watched your videos and it calmed me down when I went to the dentist thank you
I got my wisdom teeth out yesterday and have been in nothing but pain, last night I threw up a bunch because of the meds I took on an empty stomach. The pain eased more today than yesterday. Hopefully tomorrow is better!
I tried not to sneeze but my brain was like here’s 5 big sneezes at full pressure for you and your wisdom tooth which just got pulled out a few hours ago 😊
For those watching this later pro tip. Tickle the roof of your mouth with your tongue when you feel a sneeze coming on. It reduces the feeling of needing to sneeze.
I got mine removed on march 16th this year. And I got to say, it was quite bearable.... The procedure did hurt a bit (though I was numb), but afterwards, no swelling and no pain. And above all, no money needed as my insurance paid it. Fast forward, exactly 3 months today, bone has grown back and there is no hole at all now.
My doctor didn’t tell me how to heal it. All he said was what type of foods to eat and that was all, we he was finished he said okay we’re done, thank you for comming..
I’ve gotten my wisdom teeth removed right before Christmas (which was a terrible Idea by my mother) And I feel like my recovery has been slower compared to my friends who also got theirs pulled out. I watched this video and realized that some of the things I was supposed to be doing I was doing incorrectly. So thank you for this hopefully I’ll recover quicker.
Just got mine pulled an hour ago, it didn't hurt at all after the numbing needle. I had the wisdom tooth and next to it removed. I look forward to no more nerve pain. The tooth pain was 10000x worse than the pain of removal. I am mentally prepared for the swelling and pain and even more prepared for the green pastures ahead
@@Dead-ck1zo omg no, i already told my manager that im going to be absent for two days and when he knew the reason he said that he passed by this phase and gave me 3 days off
Got all 4 of mine pulled roughly 48 hours ago. Not much pain or swelling at this point, hopefully it stays that way. Don't let these comments freak you out, just follow the post op instructions your surgeon gives you and you'll be fine.
My experience has been the same! I was up and walking around again and feeling fine on day 2. Honestly I was so nervous and anxious before the surgery because of all the comments about expecting days of intense pain during recovery, but your comment was the only one that made me hopeful that it might not be the case, and my experience has been the same as yours which I’m so grateful for. Day 1 was surgery day, I got intravenous sedation and then went home and slept the rest of the day with ice packs on my face. I took 3 tramadol when I could feel the sedation wearing off and felt fine except I vomited once (I think that’s from the nausea from the tramadol more than the pain) I didn’t eat anything on day 1 after surgery only because I wasn’t hungry. Day 2 woke up with lots of energy, hardly any pain and no swelling. I’ve been really surprised at how good I feel. Today is day 3 and I only took two Panadol for a very dull ache and again no swelling, no intense pain and my hunger and energy levels are back to normal. If I had known it was going to be this easy I would have done it years ago. I just wanted to add to your comment to say it is possible to feel almost 100% again by day 2 after surgery, and that my experience was no where near as bad as everyone else had told me it would be. I understand not everyone will have this experience but I wanted to say that it can happen.
My friend was literally eating pizza with me after he got all four out and told me he just had some pain but was fine so it does happen I think it depends on how the wisdom teeth are coming in
Yeah this is the typical experience for 90-95% of folks. Similar to why you'll see little good reviews at hotels and mostly bad reviews, even if the hotel is in great shape. People that have a good experience are less likely to comment than those with a bad experience.
Thank you for the video! I was scared when I was bleeding a lot. My lips and tongue is numb. I feel really dizzy and watching this video comforts me. Thank you for the tips!
Got all four taken out Friday(did not go under). I stopped taking Tylenol and ibuprofen after the first day cause surprisingly I felt little to no pain with the exception of sensitive gums and jaw stiffness. Had barely any swelling, and I went back to eating what I usually eat the night of. I was expecting a lot of pain but I guess everyone recovers differently
I've just been referred for surgery to have one of my wisdom teeth out and I'm so nervous, I've never had any kind of surgery in my life! Thank you for all the tips!
Thanks. This helped a lot on what to do. My dentist was like you can eat and drink normally after numbing is gone. Brush teeth normally as well. No aftercare advice besides switch the gauze every 15 minutes until you stop bleeding. And rinse with salt water a couple of time the next day.
I'm on day four atm. So far I have no swelling, no pain and just a slight pressure on my lower jaw. I had all four wisdom teeth removed, hope it'll stay like this for the next week and a half. Update: i stopped taking the pain killers, I never needed it. My face remained the same pre surgery(no swelling) and never felt pain. Fully recovered. I'm guessing cleaning my teeth with oraMD and maintaining mouth ecosystem lessened the risks of infection.
I just got my top and lower right wisdom teeth taken out today!! I’m like super scared to eat food/swallow anything 😭😭 but I’m gettin over it and the pain is subsiding...just gotta chillax y’know 😎😎 I’m sure you’ll have an awesome recovery tho!!
I am getting all 4 of my Wisdom teeth taken out next Thursday, I am very nervous but, this really helped give me some good reassurance, advice, and insight I needed going into next week. Thank you for that. I hope everything goes smooth and well.
Thank you! I had mine out over a decade ago, but now it's my turn to help my husband get through it, so I'm glad to be forearmed with a refresher before the day that they casually give us the post-op papers to juggle while I'm trying to keep an eye on him (severe allergic reactions to medications at his last surgery!) and convey all the rules while making him comfortable. Thanks for helping that not all have to happen at the same exact time!
I just got mine yesterday, I am still bleeding a bit on my gauze… Is that normal? Also is it ok if I keep changing gauze’s every couple hours or you suggest to remove?
Got mine out 4 days ago most of the pain is gone. I have swelling still thought and a bad taste in my mouth they they say to get rid of with salt water. I hope I’m able to eat normal foods again soon.
Here to tell to you guys that this does apply for everyone. It’s been a week since I got my top and bottom wisdom teeth removed (both on my left side) and I’m still having tons of discomfort (pain is about a 4/10) my lower jaw on my left side is still hurting and throbbing.
Last time I got the lower left one out. I did not feel the need to take the painkillers even though I got prescribed. But the discomfort to wash my face on the area lasted about a month. Today I got all other 3 pulled out. Just hope I don’t get dry socket and the healing process goes well.
I had all 4 removed at 24 and would not recommend that if you are worried about pain. I’m on day 2 now and the swelling is huge and the pain is almost worse. Even with multiple pain meds.
My wisdom teeth were removed over the course of two appointments, my uppers actually came out perfectly straight, so my normal dentist pulled them out first. This happened over summer. My last two were just removed yesterday and they were partially impacted. Procedure went well since they sedative they used made the process fast. Currently recovering on day 2 Update: Near fully recovered with no post op pain
I’ll be starting my hygienist assistant position soon and MANNN for someone who suffers from depression and anxiety I am Rocket sky high nervous about starting. You make it sound calm and easy
Thanks for the information on post-recovery. Very helpful, engaging and great to have the extra reminders thrown throughout the video. Im on day two and I've been icing myself to help with the swelling
I'm on day 2 of recovery from my bottom 2 wisdom teeth getting removed! My appointment was early afternoon so I fasted the rest of the day. The dentist was very vague with instructions so I'm glad this video is here! Yesterday was the worst for swelling I looked like a roblox character. Definitely ice on and off throughout the day and staying hydrated is really important. Today I switched to a warm compress and started gently rinsing with salt water. The swelling was slightly better than yesterday!
Yesterday I got 4 teeth pulled (3 wisdoms & a cracked one),and yeah the start of my recovery has been a little bit aggravating(spitting up some blood, not eating what I want, etc),but so far everything has turned out good.I am taking 800 mg Ibuprofens & 500 mg Amoxicillins to help me recover.I am on a pureed diet (protein shakes, applesauce, eggs, mac & cheese, etc),and my wife's taking care of me.
Just had my top right wisdom tooth removed... A pleasant experience so far, I was freaked out for nothing. The tooth came out in 20 minutes, no pain at all during procedure. I'm now sitting here an hour after getting home and still no pain, no crazy bleeding. Everything seems OK so far. Gonna just chill out and let it heal. This was a great video to calm the nerves.
I got mine removed today within 5 minutes! It was so quick and painless. Currently still biting on the gauze and still feeling the numbness. Smooth experience so far.

But it helps to hear your information first just in case they forget to tell me something 😆 Good luck to those of you that have yet to experience it🙏🏽💞
I'm on day 4 today. One mistake i made was probably trying to chew too early, even if it was soft (luke warm lasagna, then pasta). I wish i stuck to baby food and smoothies because i think it was just extra strain on my jaw. Now i am paying for it because day 3/4 is now harder for me than day 1/2.
@@TravelKoala i’m sorry you did that to yourself. I appreciate you sharing because I could see me doing the same thing. Thinking that I’m ready to chewing something but it’s too early. I hope you feel better real soon💞
I went to the dentist for the first time in nearly 6 years yesterday, and it was for wisdom tooth pain. Did x-rays and told me all 4 are impacted and need to be removed. I've never been out under so I'm super nervous, but this video made me feel better about the process after so thank you
Getting one wisdom tooth extracted at a time. First one took 10 days to heal. Got the second one done 12 days after the first one. Learned some valuable lessons. The swishing one is important to follow. I fasted after the procedure for 48hr then took my antibiotics for 4 days every 12 hrs and an aspirin every 8 until day 9
Thank you so much. I freaked out when I heard about dry socket at 1:25. I went to the orthodontist the next day and they confirmed that there was no dry socket in my case. I was so relieved. Summary: The first 24 hours are crucial. Do not brush your teeth and do not touch the extracted area for the first 24 hours. Apply ice packs for 15 min on and 15 min off. Eat one small cup of ice cream for relief. After the first 24 hours: 1. Gently swish around with warm salt water after the first 24 hours. 2. To dispel liquids from the mouth, lean over a sink and release it slowly (instead of spitting) 3. Clean your teeth like normal but avoid the extraction site 4. Eat very soft foods while healing 5. Avoid chewy, sticky, or hard foods 6. Chew on the opposite side of your mouth 7. Take rest for the first 24 hours 8. Elevate your head when sleeping 9. Avoid hot liquids and foods 10. Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol 11. Do not suck out of a straw or spit 12. Don’t eat or drink foods that are too acidic such as lemons, sauces, ketchup etc. One last tip: Don't get both sides of wisdom teeth removed at the same time. Have some waiting time in between; remove left side wisdom teeth, wait for one month, and then remove the right side wisdom teeth. This will be better since you can chew food using the other side.
I have a very painful horizontal impacted wisdom tooth which is due to be extracted next week. I didn't realise so much aftercare was needed. I am so glad I watched this video and thank you for your advise. I feel more prepared now
I'm hopefully getting an emergency extraction tomorrow. I think he's going to pull the molar too, that's what he said 2 months ago when I needed antibiotics. Fuck I need this pain gone, it's constant, constant, neck, ear, throat, urgh I wouldn't wish this on anyone honestly
It’s been 3 days since I’ve got 4 wisdom teeth out and honestly the worst part is the prescriptions they gave me, I have to take 3 pills multiple times a day and it has me in and out of sleep, my days feel so short and I find myself lost a lot lol
@@brisaalmeida8139 I feel really great now, Google says recovery takes around 3-4 days to a week but I think a full month would be more accurate. You should stop feeling pain and discomfort after a week or so but little things such as brushing your tongue or opening your mouth wide won’t feel comfortable for a while. I’m 3 weeks in, close to a month and my mouth is still healing but everything’s pretty normal now.

Dentists don't pull teeth on opposite sides at the same time, well that's usually in my experience here where I live...I had to extract 3 teeth, one on my left side, and two on the other side, the dentist told me they can only do one at a time...kinda makes sense but I'm not a dentist😂
I have my appointment on the 26th to extract all 4 of my wisdom teeth. I have severe anxiety so this is a huge step for me. I cannot express to you how thankful I am for this video. Put my mind as ease a little bit knowing the tips you gave in this video. Thank you!!!
Girl I was too had two plus a molar removed today and it’s been almost 3 hours since....I’m doing ok lol still numbed 😂....the process was quick and painless!
I'm deathly afraid of needles the the process for me was so dang scary! But I made it through and I don't even remember my husband picking me up and taking me home. I don't even remember walking up the stairs to our house and getting into bed. It took 3 hours at put us at about 3:30 when I was done. My ass didn't wake up at home till 8p ! The pain is out of this world but man I'm so glad its over. Good vibes sent your way and I hope you have a speedy quick recovery!♡
@@virtuallyd3ad it has been 6 days since my surgery and I’m doing good 👍🏼🙂....I have my dental checkup tomorrow so I’ll let you guys know if I’m healing well lol.....but I’d say the first 3 days were the most uncomfortable but not painful if you take your meds I was on amoxicillin and ibuprofen (800mg) and I also found that ice packs help immensely also sleep upright! Don’t swish liquids in your mouth, no straws, no smoking, solids or anything hot. I’m still on an all liquid diet and I blend everything. I am super careful about getting a dry socket. But just be gentle with it and you should heal just fine!🙂 don’t exercise either and rest as much as you can.
It took me a full 2+weeks to fully recover from mine with stitches. The extraction was brutal, my gland under my jaw was swollen and it affected my TMJ to the point I couldn't open my jaw pass 1 finger for the whole 1st week. I was on really strong pain meds. But the most frustrating thing was not being able to fully open my jaw to eat thing, it got to a point where I actually had a mini break down and cried trying to get a piece of steak fries (thick cut french fries) into my mouth.
@@mamat1213 I’m day 5 and still in pain because my lower teeth were deep in my jaw 😭 I am still leaking blood.. so i’m assuming it’s infection since the swelling won’t go down (but it’s not getting worse either) All I eat is ice cream and I’m so lightheaded like goshhh… I can’t wait to feel normal again z
Same my glad is burning in my throat day one and i can feel my extraction burning, not sure if i shuld change the cotton swob its been 2hrs ,and im feeling huge nerve burning sensation
These tips have been a life saver. I didn't know what to expect. Recovery hasn't been too bad given that mine were erupted so surgery wasn't as invasive. I was put under IV sedation and I felt zero pain during the procedure nor do I remember any of it! Probably for the best. The hard part is the recovery process as you have to rest and having to be put on a soft food diet for some time.
6 days out from getting all 4 out and I can say for someone who has about 30 tattoo’s, this hurts 100x more than a tattoo, I’m in so much pain. I can’t sleep more than 3 hours.
Got mine out today. I was horrified but the dentist was really nice and helped me go through my fear. So far the recovery is doing okay, I'm still waiting to become a Shrek for a day or two
I'm good, it's been about 32 hours since I got it extracted. I don't experience much pain or swelling. For me recovery isn't scary. I was really scared at surgery but now looking back at it, it wasn't that bad it was just me panicking for no reason. It really depends what they give you for eliminating the pain. If you get IV sedative you'll barely remember anything, it knocks you out good and you won't feel anything. If they give you just local anesthetics in your gum that numbs basically half of your mouth it will be a bit unpleasant and you might experience some pain but not much really, it's not a strong pain it's just a bit uncomfortable and you might not experience it at all. If you're doing it for the first time it can be uncomfortable feeling but you need to remember that you're in good hands and that oral surgeons do this operations every day, even couple of times per day. I advise you to close your eyes and think of something nice that calms you down. My operation lasted for about 15 minutes and it would last 10 if I wasn't panicking and taking a break. Again, I had just a local anesthetics, but if you get IV sedation you will barely remember surgery. After you get your tooth extracted make sure to take medication your dentist prescribed, follow the instructions you'll get printed on paper and take a pain pill as soon as you get home. Don't worry, surgery might look scary but after a day you won't even remember it and after a week you'll be just the same as before except you won't have that annoying wisdom tooth
How are you feeling? I'm on day 6, got all 4 extracted and they were impacted. As far as I can see all places we're sutured. But God, those first three days I was in excruciating pain.
@@kiaralysc.m.9857 My recovery process went smoothly. I'm doing great. It's been 3 weeks since I had all 4 wisdom teeth extracted. Only the 2 lower ones were impacted. Really sorry to hear that you were in excruciating pain for the first 3 days. Hope you're in better shape now. Take care.

Well I just had 3 wisdoms and 1 abscessed molar removed while under GA, and I can 100% say I’m in WAYYYY less pain than I was BEFORE the procedure. PHEW. I’ve only had to take 3 of the narcotic pain meds since my surgery yesterday morning. I know I’m not in the clear yet but the pain I has beforehand was the worse so nothing could have topped it

@@waltthesalt Anesthesia was still waring off of me and I didn't read the instructions then. I couldn't open my mouth, but I was extremely dehydrated, so I used a straw to help me drink. It turned out okay and I stopped when my dad told me I shouldn't be doing that. I also drank hot drinks and rinsed my mouth a little bit within the first 24 hours. On top of that, I didn't use the little squirt tools I was given until way later. I did almost every mistake you could possibly imagine, but there's no sign of infection or dry socket for me. Then again everyone is different and I'm convinced I was just extremely lucky. Be careful and follow every instruction as closely as possible. I did some research and realized dry socket is also a small percentage of patients who go through the process if that makes you feel any better. I was extremely scared about it until I read that. I was able to relax and recover with a peace of mind. :,)

Thank you for your advice! I had 2 wisdom teeth removed today, and everything is going well. I didn’t take any painkillers, and there is no pain at all as I expected but I might feel some pain in the coming days. My advice: minimize medicines, and stick to water and salt instead of antibiotics. I hope everyone stays healthy and safe!
I’m on day 6 and somehow managed to have zero pain this entire process. I never had to take pain meds, just my prescribed ibuprofin and Tylenol. The worst part for me is the eating. I’ve been so lethargic because I’ve been living off of high protein breakfast drinks and liquid yogurt. I was scared to eat soft foods as it was getting stuck in the sockets and wouldn’t come out with swishing. Now that I got the thumbs up to use syringe on day 5 to clean the sockets, I’ve been incorporating soft foods and I feel 100% better.
4 simple tips after tooth removal. I got one of my tooths taken out and throughout the process 2 months later never felt pain. Tip 1 Rince when u get home gently to wash any blood out amd have a cleaner mouth Tip 2 Sleep elevated upwards not flat or on ur stomach if u drool u will drool blood. Tip 3 After 24 hours take some honey and try to get it into the socket as much as possible. Do the same with aloe vera. Morning and night. And salt water rince at night. Tip 4 Eat soft foods first few days then slowly eat other stuff. Do all that first week Second week take away the second and fourth step u can sleep regularly and u can start eating harder stuff. Third week with no pain and if done all as said it should already be closing lil by lil. End of the month u should feel back to normal but minimize anything hard u might want to eat slow bites. Keep up the honey and salt water routine until the first month is done. And u should be alright

I got my wisdom tooth remove today. The pain is so unbearable. I was sore before but this doctor was so rough
Just got all 4 wisdom teeth removed a few hours away. This vid was perfect. Very informative. Thank you.
Did it hurt ?
@@wonderofmen6261 To be completely honest, not one bit. Just numbness of the jaw the rest of the day, but nothing bad. I was put under anesthesia & went out like a light before I knew it. Woke up & the procedure was done. It felt like I was under for about 5-10 min when it actually took about an hour to complete. Very pleasant experience with the surgeon I went to. :)

@@Forever_Dan nope they put me to sleep, you can do both but anesthesia usually costs more

Thank you! Every other comment scares me lol
Exactly! It’s not that bad as these comments are making it seem😂😂 I got one pulled the other day and I was fine the same day!

And the ice compression packs and the cold yogurt doesn’t help with sneezing lol

Your body will naturally heal. You can’t be taught it lol

Update: i stopped taking the pain killers, I never needed it. My face remained the same pre surgery(no swelling) and never felt pain. Fully recovered. I'm guessing cleaning my teeth with oraMD and maintaining mouth ecosystem lessened the risks of infection.

When did you get the other two removed after the second one?
Don’t take aspirin guys - it’s not good for the bleeding !
Thank you so much. I freaked out when I heard about dry socket at 1:25. I went to the orthodontist the next day and they confirmed that there was no dry socket in my case. I was so relieved.
Summary:
The first 24 hours are crucial. Do not brush your teeth and do not touch the extracted area for the first 24 hours. Apply ice packs for 15 min on and 15 min off. Eat one small cup of ice cream for relief.
After the first 24 hours:
1. Gently swish around with warm salt water after the first 24 hours.
2. To dispel liquids from the mouth, lean over a sink and release it slowly (instead of spitting)
3. Clean your teeth like normal but avoid the extraction site
4. Eat very soft foods while healing
5. Avoid chewy, sticky, or hard foods
6. Chew on the opposite side of your mouth
7. Take rest for the first 24 hours
8. Elevate your head when sleeping
9. Avoid hot liquids and foods
10. Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol
11. Do not suck out of a straw or spit

Getting all 4 removed Thursday, and im scared af. Hope to recover fast and smooth like you!
@@projectx5154 thank you so much for the explication ❤ still only few hours for me before going to the dentiste . its a local anesthesia ..
I got my bottom right removed, it's been 3 days, this morning was so bad for me, so much pain. I take ibuprofen every day, or sometimes twice a day
Thank you so much for the info in this video. I had 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted today. And so far, it's been a really good experience.
Take care.
Thank you for making this video, it is so helpful. You made it clear and easy to follow and understand. Your advise and tips were spot on with what my doctor told me, but they tend to talk to fast and I got confused. Your level of tone was perfect and if I needed at least I could rewind. Again THANK YOU VERY MUCH! 🥰
I know I’m not in the clear yet but the pain I has beforehand was the worse so nothing could have topped it
great patient education. Thank you for being so thorough! I didn't know any of this!
Thanks girl. 🥰 Just got my wisdom tooth removed yesterday. You really helped with with how to rinse my mouth. Thank you thank you !!
8 days in and I wish I saw this video sooner. I made a few of these mistakes once without knowing, but I'm recovering alright. I just feel really sore lol. Goodluck guys! I wish you all the best in your own recoveries ❤️
what mistakes did u make
@@waltthesalt Anesthesia was still waring off of me and I didn't read the instructions then. :,)
Hey thanks for this comment. Just got my wisdom tooth surgically removed and I couldn't move or even feel my face all day so I was using a steel straw. Just now I started reading all these Doctors forbidding the use of straws and got weird sick. Your comment will help me sleep
@@eishaayub3429 Of course, and feel better! :) 💗
How was it?? did you feel any side effects or pain during the removal and after?? and how long did it take to recover to normal State??
My dentist didn’t give me the best after care instructions at all so I am VERY grateful for this video!
Same with mine he was very vague with instructions so thankful for this video
Mine said he was taking half of the tooth out and leaving the root because it was too close to a nerve. Anyway he just decided to take the tooth out...and zero instructions for after care
@@monopolybillionaire5027 I wonder if that’s what happened to me. I remember him PULLING on one of them and it hurting *so* bad, then he took an xray and stopped?
Watched this several times leading up to my surgery. The hours immediately after were the worst. Since then, it’s been pretty smooth sailing.
Tip 1
Rince when u get home gently to wash any blood out amd have a cleaner mouth
Tip 2
Sleep elevated upwards not flat or on ur stomach if u drool u will drool blood.
Tip 3
After 24 hours take some honey and try to get it into the socket as much as possible. Do the same with aloe vera. Morning and night. And salt water rince at night.
Tip 4
Eat soft foods first few days then slowly eat other stuff.
Do all that first week
Second week take away the second and fourth step u can sleep regularly and u can start eating harder stuff.
Third week with no pain and if done all as said it should already be closing lil by lil. End of the month u should feel back to normal but minimize anything hard u might want to eat slow bites. Keep up the honey and salt water routine until the first month is done. And u should be alright
Very helpful for me who extracted my upper wisdom teeth. Thank you!
I'm on day 3 right now, had a tough time sleeping last night because of pain
. 🙃 I got three of mine left side top and bottom and just the bottom on the right taken out. All I want right now is to eat solid foods again 😫
How is it currently going?
I cannot open my mouth normally, have sore throat and fever 🤕 it's day 2
@@supfella5115 I’m going in the morning. All 4. We’ll see how this goes
@@ronnyondasticks9379 just got 4 out yesterday this is torture
@@nikolaxo hey I'm doing good now!! And by the second week I didn't really that much pain! Thank you for asking 😌

@@abheetjain9819 how much pain u in and were they impacted
@@jjholind9374 Actually my upper wisdom tooth was not straight,u can say it was tilted...and the lower one was dwarf type
at the time of procedure, the lower one was taken out surgically...and i didnt feel anything..but in case of the upper one,i felt a lot of force being applied...it felt as if my skull would broke,so much force had to be applied to take it out!
after going home, the first hour was fairly comfortable..but maaan...after rhe first our it hurt like crazy,my right side was completely swollen and it pained as well, the whole area felt stiff af,even after taking meds(which my surgeon had prescribed) it was hurting..the first 6 hours after the surgery were very very tough....it was constantly bleeding (even after suturing)....spitting out isnt recommended... but using ice pack really helped me calm down,it also soothed the area...do apply ice pack as britney has recommended...i was able to sleep peacefully after taking meds and the next day onwards ,pain redcued a lot, keep taking ur meds and do everything she has told in the video!!!!
@@abheetjain9819 I've been asking everyone this... But what does the pain feel like? Is it an aching or a stinging
I just got my wisdom tooth removed yesterday, no significant pain so far, though I used ice packs overnight to relieve swelling. I had bread, scrambled egg and ice cream for dinner and ate porridge and soup the day after. No painkiller as well only antibiotics.
What happen after? Did it hurt?
i just got them done today!!!
I’ve had 2 tooth extractions before but I’ve never been more afraid than getting my wisdom teeth removed >_
