In this video I will show you how to upgrade to the auto lights switch. It’s a relatively easy modification to do at home on the drive in a matter of minutes, an super effective.

@@tomtdubz Yes ,5 minutes job, no problems, no lights on dash & even the 3m tape worked fine. The kit I got even had a spare 3m tape just in case.

Thanks for the help, just followed this along with the fog-light installation one. One question, can the unit be programmed so the DRL come on when it's unlocked, rather than main lights?

Hi Tom great info on Video, I've just put a new bumper on my van 2006, with fog lights but sadly no wiring loom for said fog lights. Question is would the wiring loom you used for your front end upgrade kit fit and if so where was that from please
Hey, thanks for watching. The loom for the fogs I used is one for facelifts. Travelinlite do one for the pre facelift. The loom is the same just different fogs.

Should do. Check the loom an make sure you get the correct one for your year of van, my other van is a 13 plate and is the same kit…

Hi Tom, Can you recommend a supplier of this. Looked on Amazon and Ebay and don't want to buy from a Chinese seller and some units don't appear to include a light sensor.

I was thinking about fitting fog lights to my 2020 plate Crafter and a new switch like this so there on auto. I can imagine it won't be an easy job but do you have any advice for me or anyone else. Is there wiring looms available for this to go right back to the switch. What else is needed.

Great video dude. I’ve looked on line and there’s a big and small switch, not sure witch one I need do you have measurements as my camper is 2012.
Best option is to pop yours out and take a look at the fitting.. go from there bud 👌🏻

I’ve got a 2013 factory Highline Kombi with vents for rear seat air con in the side panel that you’ve taken off in your video. Have you fitted an auto switch to a van like this and do you know if the added loom will fit in the space allowed.....?

I haven’t, but there’s is quite a bit of room in there, the new loom is quite long so you can find a spot for it 👌🏻

I believe so… it’s not fabric it’s flocking… lasted well but since doing that I’ve found you get a nicer finish with suede.. use Harrison trim supplies they supply everyone so you’ll get the best price from them 👌🏻
Hi great video, I am thinking of getting one but I noticed you also only have the rear fog light on your original switch and the new one has front and rear, so does your rear fog light still work with the switch?

Hi Tom, I’ve just fitted mine but I have the blue Motion so a smaller plug in the back. Do you know if you can have coming home lights with the newer version? It came with no instructions and I can’t find any online
Should be able to.. if you leave it in the auto mode they should turn of after 10-20 seconds....
Hi. You have a great video but i have a problem trying to set my main headlights to stay on while the coming home function is active . You made your DLR lights to stay on. My question if you can help me is how to make my headlights to stay on. Thank you for your help and time.
What make light bar/drls have you fitted?
T Dubz I ve fitted a light module and when I close only the positions remain on when the main light should remain on.
That’s very odd, have you tried to reset it and the re program?
T Dubz i don t know exactly how to reset it . I Made the switching ți every position and Heard the 3 beeps from the module. Can you Tell me how to reset it? Thanks !
Try unplugging it and starting again....

Well,I've tried and tried to remove my old switch as you demonstrated, push in and twist to zero and pull it out,.....it definitely does not work for me, any other ideas ?
Push and pull to zero… try pushing in on zero an turning to the right… should come out
Really appreciate the prompt reply Buddy, I have tried it always ,total failure, seems well fixed in there, even whipped off the small panel to the rhs to give some leveridge with my fingers, simply won't have it.
Am having the same issue. Push in and turn right whilst in and the old unit still won't pull out

Hi Mark,yes I eventually got the switch out,but,had to get a bit aggressive with it,a couple of screwdrivers either side of it and prised it out which did cause it damage,no probs as it was being replaced.
Any idea where we could find this adaptor?

Turn switch to main beam, pull out gently on the on the switch and you be able to turn it further round to put the fogs on
@@tomtdubz thx! I tried that already since it's the same procedure in all the previous vw's I owned but this time I was afraid to pull it apart. I' ll give it another gentle go. thx again.
@@tomtdubz just figured it out. like you said, turn to main beam and then pull once for front fogs and once again for rear fogs. thx again!

Travelinlite make a good kit which will allow you to convert to auto lights.. the also do the one which has the front and rear fog lights incase your thinking of add the front fogs too... 👌🏻hope you enjoy the videos 👊🏻
I believe my pins are stuck behind the light switch is there any other way of getting them pins to move I have already got the auto switch to put in after watching your video a couple of days ago but I’m just stuck at the moment I’m trying to get the light switch out Thanks for your help
Have you popped the switch out? If so it might be a case of sacrificing the old switch.. they are quite tricky to pull apart but there not worth much...
T Dubz Hi good morning no tried all last night it just won’t come out really don’t want to force it out and then break the dashboard
So it’s stuck in the dash. Pop the side panel off, it might have got lodged in, or someone may have stuck it in. One eve the side panel is off you can release the harness bit fiddly but you manage... then you might be able to free the switch...
How did you set just the drl's to be the coming home light's mate
Set the drls to be the auto function an that should work….
Hi Tom, another question mate. I have bought a fog light and auto switch kit from Travelinlite. I also bought a window kit as well (both not fitted yet bit chilly out lol) did you fit the auto windows on the bus yourself. If so did you connect both red wires to the black and yellow one or just one wire, I've watched a few videos on here but all a bit sketchy. Regards Steve

Hey, how did you programme the DRLs to work with the fob? Would it work with my led ones?
I’ve got the auto lights so the are programmed to come on when I unlock and lock the van (coming home lights) the drls light bars are power fed from the original drls so the all come on together.
Is there a way to stop it beeping when you get out the van (like you’ve left the lights on) I’ve tried setting it to side lights instead of headlights but no joy.
I’m afraid not fella I’ve tried all the settings and still reminds me I’ve left the lights on 🤬
Hi Tom , just bought a set of rear leds for my t5.1 and they don't work , but they did on my buddies van fine , I have the old light switch in the van like you had before your mod switch upgrade , would that be the issue with my lights , or would my t5.1 not be compatible ?? Frustrating as it works on my mates van and he has the newer light switch like yours .
Much appreciated if any one out there has any clue what I'm doing wrong , I thought they would just be plug n play 🙏🙏

What ever you set it too won’t bring full beam on but will do dipped or main beam 👍🏻
How did your drl switch on as LH? Wiring or programing the light switch?

Good question, there shouldn’t be any as the loom for the fog isn’t there…

It is but you will need to get the t6 auto lights kit, the fitting is different on the back.
Would this work with a t28 05 reg ?
Yeah I used the same kit on the blue5 series that was a 55 plate

It’s the factory t5.1 bumper with the sport line kit from Travelinlite. Spoiler, splitter and drl inserts

Il try, your day time lights drls should be on anyway as a standard thing, you could try resetting the module by turning it from 0 to auto whilst engine is running you should here it bleep...

Yes but the loom plugs will be different, make sure you order the correct kit. 👌🏻

The drl light bars? Or the normal drls..
The light bars are fuse next to the battery and fed from the existing drls. The vans drls in the headlights come on automatically... hope that helps

@@carlharrison1842 have a look under the bonnet, if they are they’ll have a small black box... where I had the auto lights it had the ‘drive home’ setting... making lights come on when unlocking and stay on for 20sec when locking
Great vid, but you can make this much simpler with the plug and play unit from VeeDub transporters

I bought this for my 2010 T5.1 but it's no good. My loom has 10 pins and this has 13 but only 9 of them correspond with the loom. When I switch it to sidelights the DLRs stay on which they don't on the original. What's worse is that there's only power to one rear light. At the headlight position, everything is ok at the front but there's still only one sidelight fully illuminated at the rear with a faint glimmer in the other. Put the old switch back in and everything works perfectly. It's an idiot plug so you can't put it in incorrectly.
That’s really odd. Is it possible you’ve got a faulty unit? Haven’t heard these issues before
