It's weird to watch this. If you're honest with yourself, you'll admit that he appears just like any other star athlete sports commentator: poised, articulate, bright. Not a shred of a clue of how he would turn out later.

+Robert Jensen OJ as a broadcaster, was perhaps OK but not stellar. He was one of those ex-pro athletes who coasted as far as was able to do from a glib personality And while OJ knew his football inside out, he lacked ease with his usage of grammar, vocabulary, and syntax.

In hindsight, why did NBC hire OJ in the first place (I think he started for them in 1989)? I'm not necessarily just saying this because all of the mess that would happen in his personal life from June 12, 1994 onward. And of course, if we were going to bring his personal life into the equation, then we might as well take for account that NBC hired OJ anyway after he was caught on tape beating his wife (I think it was the New Year's Day incident, for which OJ later plead no contest for).
But back to the main subject, OJ was at best, an above average broadcaster. OJ could be charismatic but by some of the accounts that I've read, he came across as too scripted and self-indulgent. Not only that, but OJ seemed to more than often ask relatively elementary questions to coaches. In a nutshell, OJ tended to come across as quite smug and insincere.

I honestly think that I can probably go play golf with OJ or maybe go out for drinks and eat with him and probably forget what exactly he did. I agree. Didn't he do sports commentary a whole lot back in the late 80's and early 90's? I forget.
The REAL problem....is the way stuff was stored. VCRs didn't even become commonplace until around 1985 or so. And by now, most people have thrown out all their old tapes. We'll never know how much TV was lost by the general public back in the 80-90's via video tape discard.

Jimmy Johnson realized he wasn't going to win with his concussed quarterback who was being carried by the team. So being smart he went to his strengths that weren't concussed... a massive o line and a running back to work off it. Second half they played a different game and the Bills couldn't stop it.
