The raw power of these cars, only the best drivers had it in them to go for the limit, if you make just one mistake you will crash out and likely injure yourself or die in these cars. These guys were the real gladiators.
What was great about this era was how close you could get to the track there was an area in Long Beach where there was a long back straight that then came to a very slight curve and if you leaned on the chain-link fence it felt like the cars were coming straight at you and then at the last second the tires with grip and then shoot on by we had to be within 25 feet of them it was fantastic the other great thing was Long Beach was pretty gritty back then so lots of tattoo shops and I was only about 15 and at the end of the straightaway they didn’t go sharp riding down the hill and my dad and I sat on the back of the bleachers so we had a downhill look and it was awesome to watch the drivers come charging down the hill and they’re very hard left everybody used to hands except Emerson Fitipaldi who put one hand at the top 12 o’clock position and cranked it up…. As we were walking past where the drivers came in iMessage to the police comes rolling up with 318-year-old girls in his car and my dad can’t be a programmer told me to get his autograph I run over and the pen doesn’t work and so I say can you wait one second and I turn around and run back to my dad and he waited! Thanks emmo!
Its because it was recorded with a cinema cam on tape and not compiled from a 50 times smaller onboard cam to be send live to you through the world within seconds. ;)

F1 today holds absolutely no appeal for me. Everything was different in the 70’s. Women more beautiful and no tattoos. Men were men, great sense of fun for life truly was lived at the very limit. God bless all those who gave their all and sometimes their lives in love of their sport.

You cannot tell me that today's cars or video footage are as exciting to watch as it was back then ! 👍🇬🇧
The sense of speed is incredible in this video :o

70s F1 Drivers are totally legendary.
Muy muy grande Patrick. Siempre lo echaré de menos. Descanse en paz.

Jede Sekunde pure Lebensgefahr.
Wow.thx for upload. Have you got more of them, please?
Wrestling that steering wheel! And maybe it's just me, but the video quality seems better than what we get today.

I remember seeing this Tyrrell with a big ass 35mm camera rig on it and thought “I wish I could see that footage.”
Great stuff, really amazing!

Yes, in those days drivers had to drive the car!
@@Slithey7433They still do. It’s a common misconception that the F1 cars of today are festooned with ‘driver aids’.

Sono incredibili le correzioni sul volante, vetture che andavano domate!
この頃は車載カメラも今ほど一般的では無かったから、貴重な映像ですね。
