I just wish the automobile industry would put as much pride in the vehicles today as they did back then.
I was sitting there trying to get the stock radiator from 1965 Impala Super Sport repaired and nobody does that anymore I ended up going down the street of the guy that used to own the radiator repair shop when I was growing up lo and behold I get to the end of the street where mr. Carver lives and he is sitting on his front porch I waved at him he's in his nineties now he asked me how I did I think you mistake me for my father but I told him well I told him I'd been by his old shop and nobody repairs radiators anymore he asked me what I had I told him he said grab it bring it back to my shop in about an hour and a half and three bears he had that thing soldered up that was 4 years ago and it's never had a bit of a leak sense he made a comment that somebody had done good work on another little patch on it and I guaranteed him if anybody you never patched before it would have been a ham he just kind of smiled I asked him how much I owed him you guys just leave me the rest of that 12-pack I carried a 12-pack over there every month till last year when his wife had told me he had passed away at 99 years old unfortunately the true definition of a Dying Breed
I love that you take the time to make these cars look as good as they can. Now VACUUM THE DAMN GLASS OUT OF THE BACK WINDOW TRAY!
Other channels swap out those old flat 6 cylinders, but they have so much torque. They are a blast to drive. Thanks for saving one and showing that they are just as cool as a LS.
I bet If there was a muffler that ole beast , you wouldn't even know it was running.
This beautiful car is a true candidate for a full restoration. It has so much spirit and it clearly wants to live and drive for many, many more years!
Great revival. I hope there's a part three where you guys tackle the tires, brakes, and interior (headliner). I think this car is a keeper!
Without the part 3 I will feel incomplete
Part 3 coming asap! 🙂 Won’t leave yah hanging!
A car made the year I was born. Was so nice to see you turn a sows ear into a silk purse. You did an amazing job on the old girl.
As I watch you and dad wash this old girl down with the beat of the music playing in the background I can't help but feel I'm getting a glimpse in my mind's eye of Mr. Jones, seventy years ago, as he proudly hand washes his pride and joy the very first time in his driveway.
This beautiful car is very cooperative, because you clean and shine her body before you jump in the engine work. The same way, we feel fresh after taking shower. Thank you.
You are one of my favorite car channels here. I love the way you and your dad handle your projects. You do things right.
There were three trim levels for 1954. Plaza was the base model, Savoy like this was middle. Belvedere was the fancy one. The emergency / parking brake is on the drive shaft. The wheel studs on the left side of the car are left hand thread. The front brakes have both upper and lower wheel cylinders. A drum puller is needed to remove rear brake drums. Although not the sleekest stying, Plymouth had the reputation as being well built, comfortable, practical, reliable, sturdy cars.
I love that you get to do something you enjoy with your dad who enjoys it too.
Now that its all cleaned up, the Savoy's green paint actually resemble a worn-out Brunswick green that was on British Railway locomotives and rolling stock in the 1950s and 60s!
German police car from the late 50s early 60s had same color scheme. I have a battery operated toy made by Schuco that looks exactly like the Savoy.
@@gispel7058 i saw that particular color on a Polizei Beetle featured on Jay Leno's Garage.
@@kristoffermangila dooo ..dee .. do..deeeee!🎶🎶
Early 50s cars are starting to grow on me, big time.
Additionally, I have images in my head of a parts car my dad bought in 1965, when I was 5, he purchased to do a restoration of his car. It was painted red with a white roof by his good friend (outside) and in 1971 when I was 11 I helped him when he discovered his "JC Whitney" rebuilt motor had a mixture of truck and car connecting rods, which resolved his odd rod knock. I cut my teeth on a 53 Plymouth. I even have all the original dealer brochures... Just because. This video is a great blast into my past.
That old girl wants to keep going, I say let her! Awesome work saving this one.
These old cars had the real steel . All the cars when i was a kid had a metal dash . Not any more . All plastic everything . All my vehicles are 30 years old or older . Love what yall do . Playing wack a mole on the valves .
I'd love a car like that as a daily. (with a cleaned up interior for sure)
Same! It's not so rare or valuable that I'd be afraid to use it, but it would still turn plenty of heads.
Just love those stodgy old Plymouth Savoy's....
I am thinking a dodge or chrysler rear window sedan of that year would fit. What a shme about the rear window. Good luck fellas it is nice to see a father and son working together. I miss working with my dad on projects like this.
Love ur dad. He is like a kid he self lol. Wish I got to know my dad before he passed ur so blessed buddy
I really enjoy watching the father son videos.
When I was a little kid in the early 1960s people were driving these cars. Back then i was eye level to the tail lights of a 61 Impala LOL
There was a blue and white uncle in our neighborhood who worked as a taxi for 35 years. It was clean every day
Good old dad and you as well Michael, they don't make them like that now, well done
What a gorgeous old girl. Well done
Yes mister. I know Savoy. My neighbors got one. The same color. My former girlfriend was so in love with Savoy . Its so lovely to look at, and the color blends well with our tropical greens and trees..
Scrubbed up shockingly well! That car deserves a restore, it wants to live! Great project there for someone, it could be stunning.
Yes Sir, She's a runner. Let's see more of this Savoy!
I SOOO wish that today's cars had the gorgeous lines and character that ones of yesteryear had. I mean EVERY vehicle manufacturer put every ounce of heart and soul into every model they gave to the public! But, unfortunately, it's not only the vehicles we have to choose from today.... it's pretty much everything offered to us. Wonderful what y'all are doing and I truly look forward to seeing what's next!
💙🙏🏼💙
SAA-WEEEET SAVOY!
Great job at gettin' the old gal up and runnin'! 😮😊❤😅😂
Thank you for covering the Porsche!
Bare hands with the barkeeper's friend is brave. Last time I did that my fingers were peeling for days 😂
Can't believe how well this car scrubbed up after being left for dead for so long. She definitely deserves a new rear window, some seat covers and maybe even a headliner, to make the cabin a nicer place to be. Not a show car by any stretch but a cool old cruiser that I wouldnt be ashamed to show up with to a cars & coffee or maybe even daily drive during the summer months.
I have 1953 Plymouth Cranbrook, hoping to one day have it finished!😮
Lol..your dad doesn't say much but his laugh is awesome....
Yep! I was so wrong she looks like an fine !antique Lady , great to see it motoring about
Unglaublich...die Toten zum Leben erwecken, meinen Respekt !
There are so many really neat, old cars to rescue and restore in America. Well done fellas. A lovely car for sure
You're understating your self. That John Deere tractor green. Now has some Sheen... 👍
What a pleasure to watch you and your dad work on this old beauty. I was surprised that the clutch worked so well -- the car shifted quite nicely. Excellent job on getting the carb all fixed up, too.
I think that is one of the best looking old American cars i've seen , very subtle but stylish design , with just enough Chrome details and styling touches to lift it . And what a fantastic sounding smooth running engine it is now , such wonderfull build quality .
Hello, friend! On my RUclips channel, there is a video with a motor (Gaz-51 and Gaz 52) installed on a Soviet truck that we are repairing. The series of these engines are remarkably similar to the engine of your 1954 car. It’s so impressive that in the country of the Soviets the engine was copied from a similar American car.👍
"Professional PDR" I knew something was comin
Thanks for motivating me to get back to my projects.
I love the shape of this car and the emerald green color. I wish cars today went beyond white, black, grey/silver, maroon, and dark blue in color and had a great shape like this car. I remember green and burnt orange cars. I hope you fully restore this car!!
All those years of playing Wack-A-Mole finally paid off. lol
what a great throaty car the flatheads chryslers were
I liked that wagon in the background
I still can't believe that's your dad. lol Nice old Plymouth! Looks good! Might need a back window though. lol
Perfect time to teach a younger dog an old trick. You can fix the slop in that carb shaft with .22 shells. Find a couple spent shells, cut the primer caps off and then trim the left over brass tube for the width of the wall thickness on the carb body. Tap the new brass bushings into the carb body then reassemble everything. You're good to go. BTW... carb rebuild kits USED to come with those bushings. Somewhere along the road, the bean counters figgered that if they quit putting them in their kits the consumer would have to buy a new carb eventually.
Now... watch them stop making .22 ammo so that we will have to buy a new carb... 😆
Not iven the more expensive new car of thise days can put a smile on a face of a dude indeeeed Luv this cat too
Put a new exaust , great job 👍
So happy to watch this video! I have a 54 Plymouth Savoy and I live watch you and your father saving this old girl!!
Legendary engine, still used in fork trucks today.
I remember this car from the other video. I think I made a comment telling you that you should have gotten this one. I am so glad you ended up getting it. This car deserves to be restored and back on the road. It's a great car.
Love the pre 60 classics
That old paint is gorgeous! I noticed that you more and more start to look like your dad.
What's really amazing is that you were able to get the head gasket at your local auto parts store, no way is that happening in the northeast
What a great old car. Good work getting it running again. Definitely an awesome weekend cruiser....
Wow Michael! Not only did I enjoy this cars rescue but I really fell in love with this car. And it has nothing to do with the paint color which is my favorite color. Awesome job I can't wait to see what's next.
Always liked that era of Mopar , particularly the Savoy. 54-56 were just the best.Keep this one.. keep her flying.
Make it road worthy!!!😊😊😊
Keep saving them
Nice , honest old duffer...quite an improvement...! Bravo
Yes, we did enjoy this rescue Michael, I just love how excited you and your dad get, it’s truly contagious we feel excited along with you 👏👏👏👍🙂
MOPARS ARE THE BEST ESPECIALLY OLD ONES.
Nice job!
It's amazing how nice the chrome is on that old Plymouth.
So happy i found this channel.
Keep up the great content. The Plymouth deserves more love
Takes me back. I resurrected a '53 Dodge B-4-B 116 pickup back in '81. Used it for 30 years. Always did what I asked it to do, and never let me down on the road. I did rebuild the engine after operating it for 5 years as it was. Body looked kinda mean, but it ran and drove like new when I got the mechanicals in order. Got some vids up on RUclips.
Proof that "it'll buff right out" is a thing. LOL
😁👍
LOVED IT ALL THE BEST IT IS RAINING HERE IN NORTH ENGLAND SO THIS WARMS THE DAY THANKS
Glad to see you put the old car back on the road, she's a beauty!!
This thing would make a great road trip car,,,,
Nothing cheer up more, than your videos and a cup of green tea on sunday morning, especially when there is war in my country.( I'm from Ukraine) si, thanks, what you doing, keep up the good work, andstay safe.😉
Slava Ukraini! Sending you and your country positive thoughts and solidarity from the UK 🇬🇧 🇺🇦
Those flathead 6s are definitely cool and tough little engines I have one in my 1951 Ford truck
The Savoy badge looks like it says Saucy at a glance 😂
What a pleasure watching you and your friend,(or family member) getting this old girl back up and running, getting her cleaned up and looking good. Outstanding job. 👍
Thank you 😊 Very glad your enjoying! That’s my Dad 😁
Man that think cleaned up real nice. I wouldn't mind driving that for a daily. God bless

Michael, I throughly enjoy your videos. Enjoy working with your Dad. Mine is gone but, I have great memories. Making new memories with my 3 sons. Keep up the great work.
All the giggling at the end there... 😊 👍
I like that push bike you have there too
I must say I really enjoyed watching you guys bring back em old school car's 👊👍
Looking good 👍👍
Thank you! 🙂
I love this ol buggy !!
Thank you for getting rid of the flexie hose, lol.
Always wondered where valves lived in a flathead. Super cool.
Man, I didn't think the paint on that old Plymouth would come up like that. Great job guys!
I drove a 2 door Dodge Royal V8 during high school. I almost regret not having it now, I paid $10.00 for it in 1969. Mine had the original Hemi V8. It still had plastic on the back seats. I found it under pine trees. Painted the the original black with 10 coats of DuPont factory paint.
Thank you so much. Sure brought back some fond memories.
Great job guys! Man, 'that thing has got some pep', as my grandpa would say!!
Probably be worthwhile to pull the seats, pressure wash the interior and hit it with some rust convertor.
Great work. Have a 1954 Belvedere. Greetings from germany.
Nice job, love a good straight six and three on the tree. She’s ready for a trip to Dairy Queen after replacing the tires - safety first!!
Those are the best flathead eng ever made brother
resembles a 52 Chev front end. Great find!!!
The 50s 4 doors are the best
