I will never understand why you call it a cover when you just take the words from a song but use a different melody and different harmonies. This has almost nothing to do with Fortress around your heart. It's not an Interpretation. It's a different song that stole Sting's lyrics.
@Flow March the original was written in a specific, modal way, utilizing two medieval modes (dorian and mixolydian, first minor and the second major) to underscore the medieval climate and atmosphere of the song (fortresses, sieges, mines). Changing the modal character of the song by using jazz cliches just kinda wrecks the intent of the songwriter. But I like the arrangement nonetheless
My favorite Sting song! Bravo to Alex Brown, the musicians, and Gary Lindsay! best, Kevin Dorsey MM Studio Jazz Writing 1997

Sting eaten by Wayne Shorter eaten by Esperanza Spalding 😊
I like jazz, but some songs just don't sound good performed in a jazz style.
ugh
How to destroy a perfect song

Its literally the exact same Melody they just did a harmony rearrangement
I'm sorry, but this song does not lend itself to jazz at all.
