Unlike 21stC westerners they pay attention to their environment - if a tree falls in the woods the foxes squirrels deer etc are very cautious around it, they will scope it out, check it isn;t a trap with lurking predators, but when something changes in our environment, like 5G towers, che mtra!1$ etc we ignore it b/c if the media isn;t talking about it it must be ''safe and effective'', we're very gullible and very vulnerable, we've lost our animal survival instincts

By far crunchy peanut butter was always the favorite of my squirrels at my old house. A nice big blob of peanut butter and a bowl of water . Sometimes if I had some I would stick wall nuts half in the peanuts butter for added choice.

Squirrels do not like change :) My favorite manifestation of this sort of behavior is when we've gotten a significant snow fall and there's a mound of snow over the water bowl, the squirrels will come and eat snow from that spot. They have an entire world full of snow to eat but they come to our water bowl for hydration.
I think you could be right about the wound on Fuzzy. One of the top males around here (we only see him around mating time) showed up a couple of days ago with a very similar looking scalping. The mating season was in full swing 3-4 weeks ago and his wound looked to be about that old. Interestingly, the female he was following was the Little Notcher, who continues gracing us with her semi-regular presence. I guess she was a little late this year.

The caption-text answering my question appeared just as I was thinking it... fighting squirrels! Only male? Too bad they can't attend Thursday morning mindfulness classes🙂, "We are all squirrels of the Universe, each a unique expression of squirrel consciousness, all equal in the eyes of the loving source that created all squirrels", so adorable all the same. • @Squirrels_at_the_window

I feed all the animals who come to my window, and Blue Jays are awesome birds and very good to have around. They help the squirrels when they see hawks and sometimes they even try to chase the hawks away. They don't bother the squirrels, but patiently wait their turn or for me to throw food for them on the ground. 😊🐦
