I feel the original demons souls soundtrack is more memorable. Very minimalistic with only a few instruments playing st the same time, where in the remake they went full force orchestra. While the production quality goes way up it's an entirely different feeling and sound and I cant really distinguish them apart except for the melody/harmony borrowed from the original peices. Bloodborne 3.) Dark Souls 3 4.) Demon's Souls 5.) Sekiro 6.) Dark Souls 2
I’m egg-sactly the same with Bloodborne and DS3 , they swap 1st place in my head all the time depending on the day. I agree with Sekiro’s placement as well
dark souls 2 is the best of the three and i will die on this hill. love seeing the tier list vids, NL. always a nice treat even if this one got had me >:(. hopefully we get some more lists in the new year!
I think a lot of people have the same mindset you used to have regarding DS3. It came out at a time when people were starting to get burnt out on the series and instead of focusing on the many positives (visuals, combat, boss fights, level design) they instead nitpick it to death. Is it really that big of a deal that it shares some similarities to Dark Souls when the core gameplay is extremely good?
I'm pretty much in agreement with the whole list, but personally I put Sekiro in first, the mechanics are so refined to absolute perfection that I can't help but love it
yet to play Demon souls. otherwise my list goes. 1 Bloodborne (best game of all time! IMO) 2 DS1 (although I dont like it much after anor londo) 3 Sekiro (would be higher if normal mobs were a bigger challenge to get past) 4 DS2 5 DS3 (felt commercial and unmagical to me compared to the other games. Still love all these games though)
I’m biased towards Demon’s Soul because it was the first one I played on the PS3. That pain of something new that was really hard has been etched into my brain forever.
I've recently replayed the 3 Dark Souls games as well, this year. I really loved playing the first game again, but it's the least great in my opinion. 2 and 3 are easily better in their own ways, and it's hard to say which is best, but I think 3 is on top. I wish I could play Bloodborne. I think I might like it more.
Agree with a lot of your comments. Always a special place for Dark Souls 1, but it DOES go off the boil in the second half although the DLC is incredibly strong (Ciaran & Artorias). DkS3 is the pinnacle. Bloodborne I never really clicked with the combat, parry shoot timings aren’t good for an older gamer, and I swerved Sekiro for the same reason. Thanks for all the great content, really enjoy your videos. All the best
Honestly, this list is spot on for me. I will give it to Hbomb that I don't think DS2 is a *bad* game, but it's the worst soulslike. Also I absolutely adore DS3, I've been doing a new character through covid and I'm level 215, PvP is hard but it's fun
I’ve just reached the iron keep and I really like the game but I feel like hbomberguy really shat the bed with that video (not as bad as MATN’s response to his fallout video but I gets close)
@@solaireofastora9178 I dont think he shat the bed necessarily, he had good points to make but he just kind of ignores how enjoyable the game feels to play on average, he's blinded by his own opinion of the game
While I don't personally enjoy Sekiro at all I wouldn't have been surprised or thought it was undeserving of the top spot. That said I'm glad to see DS3 take it.
Bought Sekiro at release, but hit a wall at the Blazing Bull boss, after having struggled tremendously to get to that point. Recently picked it back up, and Steam achievements has notified me that I'm in the final area. The game is past remarkable, and looking forward to watching your second playthrough 👍
He had this conversation every demon souls stream but still kinda cool, but I'm gonna be really bloody poffed for the boss ranking video i tell ya what
I think ringed city really put dark souls 3 on the bloodborne level. I instantly loved dark souls 3 regardless, but the ringed city has so much lore that was teased since dark souls 1 and dlc1, while bloodborne dlc expands upon lore in game, but also kind of came out of nowhere
Haven’t played Bloodbourne or Demon Souls, and still working on Sekiro, but solid list. Honestly have a weird flex for DS2 where it’s high on the list. Out of the trilogy would say 3 is best, then 2 then 1.
dark souls 3 was my first souls game, after beating Sekiro. after I beat DS3 I went to play DS1, and NL is right, it just does not feel as good as DS3. There is just something about the way it plays, it did not grab me the way DS3 did. Also, I am really banking on a bloodborne remake, I tried to play in on PS4 but the frame rate is just a killer.
We have the exact same list. (except with BB and Sekiro switched.) You can kinda tell your favorites by hours played, at least in my case DS3 = ~700 hours Sekiro = ~150 hours BB = ~350 hours DS1 = 300 hours Demons = Not that many, gotta finish it on PS5 when I can get one DS2 = 4 hours
Good video and tier list. Little disagreement with preference for humanoid with sword/weapon bosses, those feel very tired to me over the course of the series. Playing demon souls this year I really enjoyed all the monster like bosses, like Maneater and Flamelurker.
My first souls game was bloodborne, thought it was so difficult cuz I didn't understand the gameplay of souls series that I traded it in. My friend then decided to take me through the older games Starting with Dark Souls 1 before Dark souls 3 released and help me understand the gameplay of the series. We played Dark souls 3 together when it came out completely blind, which in itself was a fun experience. And Now having played every souls game even rebought bloodborne shortly before the DLC came out and played that again, and demons souls remake on PS5 was the first time I played it. I can say Souls is one of my favorite series along with Zelda and Elder Scolls franchises. Can't wait for Elden Ring.
My only problems with Dark Souls 3 was the linear maps, samey environments (too many cathedrals, and the Demon Ruins were uninspired corridors) and lack of poise. But otherwise, 'tis a fine list!
I think the problem with having a tier list (apart from the period in which each game came out) was the same problem with the community. No one really knows the selling point of a Souls game anymore. What do you really prefer? Replay value? Level design? Attention to Detail? Difficulty? Exploration? Longevity? Medieval Fantasy? Mulitplayer?
i finished my first DS2 playthrough a few days ago, and I gotta say, the Ivory King himself wasn't as memorable as say, the Fuke Knight or Sir Alonne, it was more about the buildup

2 DS1 (although I dont like it much after anor londo)
3 Sekiro (would be higher if normal mobs were a bigger challenge to get past)
4 DS2
5 DS3 (felt commercial and unmagical to me compared to the other games.
Good list! I put Sekiro 1st and DS3 3rd but otherwise I'm the same. I like the combat in sekiro the most so it's my favorite.
Damn this tier list makes me happy. Not enough people talk about bloodborne I feel like
Bought Sekiro at release, but hit a wall at the Blazing Bull boss, after having struggled tremendously to get to that point.
Recently picked it back up, and Steam achievements has notified me that I'm in the final area. The game is past remarkable, and looking forward to watching your second playthrough 👍
He had this conversation every demon souls stream but still kinda cool, but I'm gonna be really bloody poffed for the boss ranking video i tell ya what
Steely Dan Albums tier list when?
I think ringed city really put dark souls 3 on the bloodborne level. I instantly loved dark souls 3 regardless, but the ringed city has so much lore that was teased since dark souls 1 and dlc1, while bloodborne dlc expands upon lore in game, but also kind of came out of nowhere
I wish I could experience Dark Souls 3 for the first time again.
same
Haven’t played Bloodbourne or Demon Souls, and still working on Sekiro, but solid list. Honestly have a weird flex for DS2 where it’s high on the list. Out of the trilogy would say 3 is best, then 2 then 1.

"I dont neccesary wanna say it in spoilers" proceeds to list some bosses including the final boss
dark souls 3 was my first souls game, after beating Sekiro. after I beat DS3 I went to play DS1, and NL is right, it just does not feel as good as DS3. There is just something about the way it plays, it did not grab me the way DS3 did. Also, I am really banking on a bloodborne remake, I tried to play in on PS4 but the frame rate is just a killer.
The world is wayy better in dark souls 1 then 3 though
@@Jbswe the interconnectedness is, the actual level design is better in Dark Souls III
@@jetthejudge I guess except for the like 5 poison swamps areas throughout the game
@@Jbswe I never had a huge problem with the poison areas of 3 because they all had laid out and defined pathing to take as little damage as possible.
We have the exact same list. (except with BB and Sekiro switched.)
You can kinda tell your favorites by hours played, at least in my case
DS3 = ~700 hours
Sekiro = ~150 hours
BB = ~350 hours
DS1 = 300 hours
Demons = Not that many, gotta finish it on PS5 when I can get one
DS2 = 4 hours
now here's the listicle content I've been craving! also, I think the list is spot on.
I just tried to close the ad that is showing on his page and wondered why it wasn't working for a good 5 seconds...
Can't wait for Elden Ring.
i remember hearing bloodborne is getting a touchup for ps5 so that's something to look forward to
My only problems with Dark Souls 3 was the linear maps, samey environments (too many cathedrals, and the Demon Ruins were uninspired corridors) and lack of poise. But otherwise, 'tis a fine list!
I think the problem with having a tier list (apart from the period in which each game came out) was the same problem with the community. No one really knows the selling point of a Souls game anymore.
What do you really prefer?
Replay value? Level design? Attention to Detail? Difficulty? Exploration? Longevity? Medieval Fantasy? Mulitplayer?
Bosses? The music? The aesthetics?
You know what's next right ?
All weapons tier list in souls games.
RUclipsr: I’ll rank the soulsborne games
Community: *so you have chosen death*
man the platform exclusivity of bloodborne really pisses me off, now that I know NL appreciates that game so much
1. Bloodborne
2. Sekiro
3. Dark souls 3
4. Dark souls
5. Dark souls 2
6. Demon's Souls
My strongest bloodborne memories are the 5 minute loadtimes on launch
Dark souls 2 was great still imo.
Ivory King is the best boss in the series
i finished my first DS2 playthrough a few days ago, and I gotta say, the Ivory King himself wasn't as memorable as say, the Fuke Knight or Sir Alonne, it was more about the buildup
@@sifamon3876 yeah, seeing the knights prepare to go to the great chaos is a really memorable
An analysis of The Souls games done by none other than NL himself? Some say the perfect video doesn’t exist, but this proves otherwise.
