This was an informative interview especially because Homer Layne worked with Charles James. The book sounds amazing and a fascinating read with lots of technical information for a deep dive into James' work.

Why are these films from FIT always shot from above, looking down? It makes it hard to see images on the wall behind the guests.

I agree. I have been in the theatre so it wouldn't quite work to have both at one time. But it should be possible to do second camera and put screen captures into the final video.
