In the rest of the world (or at least the Commonwealth) you get a ribbon for a campaign, or for being a total fucking badass (bronze stars for valour and higher). The decorations are worth more then.
Often times they are highly decorated, however regulations does allow you to only wear the highest awards. Say you had 20 ribbons/medals, that’s way too much on the chest for everyday wear, they could opt to only go with the 6 highest ones.
He's not American, Russian, or North Korean where a medal is given out for getting out of bed each day. Real militaries tend to require you to actually *do* something before they hand out a medal. Yamamoto, for example, had fewer than 20 decorations and that included his general war and action medals for simply being present in certain times/places. The ones he did have really *meant* something.
A firing squad is a meaningful distinction from other methods of execution. The US military gave the same courtesy to the Japanese commander that US propaganda had identified as responsible for the Bataan death march.

As far as the comments about the plausibility of an Army court marshal trying an Admiral in Imperial Japan, this inter-service antipathy isn't contradicted by the episodes plot. Firstly its important to remember that General Yamori is not trying him in his capacity as an Army Commander but as the Governor-General of the Japanese-Pacific-States, a Dependency of Japan whose leaders operate with near-autonomy from Tokyo which the show has depicted before on multiple occasions. Just like the historical Governor-General of Korea, Yamori is a plenipotentiary appointed by the Emperor, as he alludes to when he called the court marshal to order, and he is within his rights to try anyone in the JPS. Secondly there are some throw away lines in the episode indicating that Yamori is doing this quickly and out of the public eye so as not to provoke a coup from the Navy, he expects when it is revealed he executed an Admiral in some kangaroo court there will be a reckoning with the IJN but he later explained that he expected Hirohito to intercede on his behalf to secure his position after he explained his motivations.
Technically he wouldn't. Even in the show chief inspector Kido said the admiral should be sent to Japan to face a Naval tribunal. This wasn't a real hearing though, this was General Yamori trying to frame the Admiral for his crimes.
In the show, the general was trying to get rid of the Admiral because the Admiral wanted to peacefully withdraw from the United States. Even Kido was concerned and pointed out to the general that the IJN would be enraged once they found out.
Bold of them to asume the yamato would be shelling the IJA or that Taihou Jets wouldnt be Bombing the shit out of the IJA for putting their hands on an admiral

The basic fallacy about this series is that it's based on a false premise: that the Nazis and Japanese desired and had the means to conquer the world. The Nazis did not think in Geo-political terms but Eurocentrically. Hitler thought in World War One terms, seeing the conquest of France and Russia as his ultimate war aims. The Nazis had no workable plan for even invading England and put no real energy into it. Nor did they have a navy capable of crossing the Atlantic against an America with three times their industrial plant. Hitler feared America. Similarly the Japanese limited their war aims to co-opting southeast Asia and China into their Greater Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere. They had no wish to go after America and could not support a cross-Pacific invasion of America with their minuscule industrial plant, barely 10% of America's. World conquest by the Nazis and Japan was simply not possible given the political-economy of their nations. But it's a nice and entertaining fantasy, which is what Hollywood is all about.
That is correct, World War 2 was so one sided it isn't even funny, any of the three superpowers at the time could defeat the axis on their own given time. Both, the British Empire, United States and the Soviet Union outproduced the axis industrially, economically and had overwhelming superiority in resources in manpower. With enough time, any of them could mobilise enough troops to invade and rescue Europe on their own, Japan wasn't even a real threat, their troops got pinned down in China and Burma.
@@jonataspereira1691 The UK would probably have lost the will for a full blown campaign of reconquest settling instead for a negociated solution. The British Empire lost 550k soldiers in the war. If it hasn't been for US and Soviet troops we can easily assume much higher losses. 10 times higher at least. Obviously many of these would have had to be subjects from the colonies. Its one thing to expect British India to sustain a war which cost it 80k quite another 1 million or more. The soviets and the americans could likely have won the war alone but the British Empire would have sustained losses at too great a scale for what was ultimately an Empire with quite loose loyalty to the Crown. At the end of the day going it alone would have proved self defeating. Even if you won the losses sustained would have been so great any will left for postwar relevancy would be gone.

@@jonataspereira1691 Maybe but first of all promising postwar independence is something the UK only wanted to give India and that was barely given in the first place. Secondly recruiting millions of natives from the various colonies would almost certainly lead to riots and uprisings. In real life the British Empire had significant difficulty in recruiting the needed numbers. If the numbers recruited had been far higher you can be certain local tensions would have exploded. The Empire was not Nazi Germany but a massive conscription campaign among suspicious natives would likely have backfired. Especially once the brutal discipline of the Army became known even more so since nonwhite soldiers by default were treated worse than white ones visibly worse. Even dominions would have difficulty maintaining their commitment. All the dominions mobilised about as much as they could in real life. In a scenario in which the UK is alone the dominions would be pushed beyond their limits.
@@florinivan6907 In real life the british Empire recruited most of its strength from the home Islands itself and the culturally alike dominions, while refusing to arm large quantities of colonial troops, I believe they had at most 5 Million colonial troops in the 6 years of the war, most of which came from India. But that happened because the government chose to do so, there were many people in Churchill's cabinets and many generals like Harold Alexander who supported conscription in the entire british Empire.

I've never seen this series, only a number of clips like this one. Question. Why is the atmosphere so dark and why, if my perspective is correct, why aren't the Nazis and Japanese enjoying their conquest?
The West coast of the US refused to accept being occupied and there was a strong revolutionary movement that required the Japanese to be continually trying to stamp it out, so they couldn't "enjoy" what they conquered. That and almost as soon as the war ended, the Japanese and Germans were essentially in a state of cold war.

For an admiral, his chest lacks decorations. Only 2 1/2 rows?
In the rest of the world (or at least the Commonwealth) you get a ribbon for a campaign, or for being a total fucking badass (bronze stars for valour and higher). The decorations are worth more then.
Often times they are highly decorated, however regulations does allow you to only wear the highest awards. Say you had 20 ribbons/medals, that’s way too much on the chest for everyday wear, they could opt to only go with the 6 highest ones.
All, some, or none?
He's not American, Russian, or North Korean where a medal is given out for getting out of bed each day. Real militaries tend to require you to actually *do* something before they hand out a medal. Yamamoto, for example, had fewer than 20 decorations and that included his general war and action medals for simply being present in certain times/places. The ones he did have really *meant* something.
A firing squad is a meaningful distinction from other methods of execution. The US military gave the same courtesy to the Japanese commander that US propaganda had identified as responsible for the Bataan death march.

Just like japanese court rooms today little has changed if they think you are guilty you are or otherwise they "persuade you" to confess
its amazing how there were no Naval guys besides the Admiral present, and it was only Army officers at the court martial, would make it so unfair
When the Lawful Good character is *actually* lawful good.
That’s a really cool Chick-fil-A arm-band
No comments about that the general also play as a shogun in Red Alert 3?
Or how he was an android in the third Robocop movie.
So why is the IJA allowed the authority to court martial and then execute someone from the IJN?
not just someone, but an admiral too, i wonder if in real world an admiral would just be summoned to an ordinary court martial....
@@firstcedric8129 an admiral would be judged by the emperor himself
Technically he wouldn't. Even in the show chief inspector Kido said the admiral should be sent to Japan to face a Naval tribunal. This wasn't a real hearing though, this was General Yamori trying to frame the Admiral for his crimes.
In the show, the general was trying to get rid of the Admiral because the Admiral wanted to peacefully withdraw from the United States. Even Kido was concerned and pointed out to the general that the IJN would be enraged once they found out.

@@florinivan6907 I believe the British Empire has the manpower to win the war, While the imperial authority wasnt quite the same like in the great war, but I believe they can make It easily by promising independence after the war, which is what they did to India.

Because it’s Israeli Hollywood propaganda.

I know the entire show is fictional, exaggerated and taking countless liberties. But deep down I still felt those two peoples (Germans and Japanese), brilliant as they were with many admirable traits, are nonetheless utterly unsuited to building empires. They don't even make efforts to hide their superiority complex.
You cannot build up an empire with establishing your superiority above others in some way.
The Western inferiority complex rots empires.
