So this song was written because of the police brutality that lead to the 1992 LA Riots. It was a CRAZY time to be young. I was 16-17 in 1992. So I saw Body Count at a show with Exodus, Propane and Testament in Northern California. It was an insane show. I'll leave it at that lol. After the show I remember leaving and like 50 cops were there thinking this show would have incited a riot. But it was quite the opposite. Nothing happened and the show went off with out a hitch. I very briefly met Ice T and Ernie C(guitar player) . They were both super cool people. Yeah man the early 90s were ROUGH
Police brutality was bad in southern California during those times. Especially towards minorities and misfits too (punks, skaters, etc) . '80s/'90s. Then the Rodney King thing happened then you had wild riots across southern California. So you had a reaction from many bands from California back then. Songs about it from all different genes especially hip hop and, punk rock, rock music.: Rage Against the Machine, Sublime, Dr Dre/Snoop Dogg, Cypress Hill, The Offspring, Downset, Suicidal Tendencies, MC Eiht (Comptons Most Wanted), Ice Cube/NWA, 2Pac, Rancid, Slayer with Ice T, Machine Head, Po.rno for Pyros, etc. Folks were fed up. lol
@StaxReacts Also saw Jane's Addiction, Nine Inch Nails, Siouxsie & The Banshees, Living Colour, Rollins Band, Butthole Surfers! That first Lollapalooza festival changed my musical life
Saw Ice when this came out at a small club in Philly. He did his rap set first, took a short break, then did a set with his band Body Count. Dude, there were cops everywhere outside, on every corner, and driving by, for blocks around just waiting for some shit to go down. And literally nothing at all happened. It done my heart good knowing the cops were all let down and disappointed! 🤣

This was Ice T's punk rock band. They were heavy! Check out the videos for "There Goes the Neighborhood", "Bowels of the Devil" , "Body Count Anthem", Body Count and Slayer song "Disorder". Ice T is friends with many in the metal and punk circle, BTW like Megadeth, Slayer, Suicidal Tendencies. They are all from California.
@StaxReacts No problem. Ice T a great rapper but he also loved punk and metal growing up. That's why he even had some guitar, rock in some of his earlier solo songs on his rap albums.
I, too, commented before that you might want to react to some of the metal bands with black band members and Body Count was one of them. I didn't expect you to react to this! Love that you didn't get agitated and "got it."
This is Body Count, Ice T's rock band he started in 1990 while he was still pumping out wicked rap. Body Count are still around after 33 years. I would love you to hear Ice-T solo, he was one of the pioneers of gangster rap. "Lethal Weapon", "Midnight", "Freedom of Speech", "6 in the Morning", "I'm Your Pusher" - too many to list. Ice-T showed you what living in South Central LA in the 80's/90's was like, the repression and poverty, the violence and comradeship. He also promoted education and intelligence as well as a positive future. Check him out.
Saw them on a Lollapalooza tour (1991, back when it was a mobile festival and not a Chicago festival). He played half a set of Ice-T tracks and half a set of new Body Count songs. You need to listen to his track "Colors". Certified Rap Classic. And a cop who doesn't do bad things but stands aside while others do them is still a bad cop. So anyone not actively working Internal Affairs or ratting on their partner is, statistically, a bad cop.
Ernie C is his looooongtime guitar player, BeatMaster V is his long time drummer too… check out “The Girl Tried to Kill Me” off his Iceberg lp, I consider that the first actual body count song
Disorder by SLAYER feat Ice T is a must listen to. Actually that whole album is a banger. It’s from the soundtrack of the movie Judgement Night and it’s filled with rap and metal band collaborations. Keep doin your thing brother and keep music alive one song at a time
This is actually by Body Count which was Ice T’ punk/metal band which I loved because I knew Ice T from his rap from a young age and I was still young when this came out and I didn’t like cops because of family connections and treatment I had received already because I was a wild child
i saw Bodycount open for Metallical and Guns N Roses at Arrowhead stadium in KC. I was up against the barricade in front of Ice T. I remember this song was a big deal it was on the news etc.. Copkiller was the encore. Ice T said they were told backstage that they were NOT ALLOWED to perform this song and they had to sign a contract saying they wouldn't. Ice T said, F'em I'm Fn ICE T, F that S^^^ and they went right into the song. Cops all over the stadium I remember were freaking out. Great show, they actually blew me away as to how good they were live in that big stadium.
Body Count rocks!! My dad got me onto them like 7 years back, when Bloodlust just came out. Hearing Dave Mustaine (Slayer) doing a solo in Civil War was crazy!
Ernie C on guitar , Mooseman on bass , Beatmaster V on drums . All black dudes . This whole record is a fun and crazy ride Stax . You should listen from start to finish if you would like to . They have funny excerpts between songs like this one by a news reporter " Last night 27 killed in gang warfare , NOW SPORTS ! " LOL ! But at least check the tracks There Goes the Neighborhood (video too) and the song Body Count . Wild stuff for 1992 bruh !
got to see ICE T at the 1st LOOLAPALOZA where he did a rap set followed by a BODY COUNT set-also saw SOUNDGARDEN do a cover as a protest to the whole controversy about the banning of the song
Ice-T has been doing Body Count since the 90's, they were very controversial. Ice has also been featured in other bands' songs, bands such as Megadeth and Black Sabbath, and Ice also has featured Dave from Megadeth in a Body Count song, and also Max Cavalera former leader of Thrash Metal legends Sepultura.
Your first Ice T reaction is Bodycount 😅 but that's still fire 👌 Check : Mind over matter, High Rollers, The Tower, Colors, 6 'N tha mornin (and its prequel Midnight), OG original gangster, Peel their caps back, That's how I'm livin To name a few
Body Count was the first band that I ever saw in concert. They opened up for Guns N Roses and Metallica at Arrowhead Stadium in 1992. I was only 15 years old and I was rocking out. Ice T will always have a special place in my heart.
I managed to get a copy of the Body Count CD with this on it back in the day when it was first released before it got pulled and they removed this track, think its a German import and cost a lot back then for a CD, but worth it!! Great album and this track was very controversial and affectively banned at the time. Body Count could have been some rap metal thing but Ice-T did it right and came hard with hardcore crossover vibe with take no prisoner lyrics. Ice MuthaF***in' T
I'm always down for a "Cop Killer" reaction, but this is a weird choice for your first Ice-T reactions. For something more hip hop from Ice-T, go for "6 In The Morning", "I'm Your Pusher", "Lethal Weapon", "O.G. Original Gangsta" or his collab with Ice Cube, "Trespass". This song got pulled from the album pretty early on.
This song legitimately scared white folks. Ice-T was all over the news, there were stories about folks buying up all the cd’s, tapes and records in their area and they would video tape themselves destroying them and send it to news station. Shit was crazy. This album was one of the first cd’s I ever bought.
Yeah this is my kind of music. When the first album came out it was a big sucsess in germany. Cop killer has not the same social meaning here because at this time the police here act different as in america. But it was a big hit in the rock clubs and everyone goes wild on the dancefloor. From the start bodycount was total acceptet in the rock scene because ice-t had a huge credebility and reputation here. See them live back in the days here in germany and the performance was so intense. This shit has rocked the house
The guitar is Ice T's good friend Ernie E. In an interview Ice said he started the band to play with his friends like Ernie E. Ice sees things clearly it is not just white and black, it is more about rich and poor. May I also suggest "black hoodie" and "no lives matter" Peace

Loved this album. During a time where most rappers were collaborating with rock bands (RunDMC/Aerosmith, PE/Anthrax, etc.), Ice T took it a step further and started his own punk band. Title is a little misleading - he wasn't a featured artist. He was the lead singer of the band. This album scared mainstream media and the powers that be so bad, they tried to take away his 1st amendment rights by having it banned. Fortunately, the judge proceeding over the trial understood the Bill of Rights and dismissed the whole thing.
I love BC and Ice-T. As a white kid from a little city in Canada, I always looked to Ice-t for the current atmosphere of racism in America. He was the first music artist that I knew of, to try and be silenced by the censorship board. So I knew he must have something important to say. Listening to some of his stuff like Colors, Cop Killer, Drama....etc to The Hate is Real and No Lives Matter, Ice always tells it like it is. Keep up the great content. Stay Happy and Healthy
Body Count is a dope rap metal band! If you like this, check out "Close Your Eyes (And Count to Fuck," by Run the Jewels. Similar message but straight hip hop with even better/stronger rhymes.

The album with this version of the song was only on shelves for a week and a half before it was pulled. If you listen to the entire album it is not just this song as a gimmick, it's got its moments.
Check out more Body Count, especially the song and music video from the movie Universal Soldier with Jean Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren in the video as their characters in the movie
@@StaxReacts check out the song and video from the movie Airheads With Lemmy from Motörhead,Ice T and Wilfred Crane from Ugly Kid Joe called Born to Raise Hell
It's hard to describe how big a deal this song was, protests, bans on the record sales, cop unions freaking out, it all made Ice-T likely the most hated man in Amerikkka. But most all of them missed his larger point.
Body Count is still around and have gotten even BETTER with age.. Check out some of their most recent tracks especially BLACK HOODIE… Ice has never stopped speaking the truth! 🤘🏼
Not the Ice-T track I'd have expected you to start with 😁 Body Count was his metal side-gig. Check out the self-titled song he included in his hip-hop album Original Gangster, where he introduce the project to his established hip-hop audience, I think you'll appreciate his take -- > watch?v=qaLS_AccLYk
Yes, this song was INSANELY controversial when it was released. So much so that record stores would refuse to sell it and the song was removed from the first pressing of the record. Now Ice T plays a cop on TV lol.
When this came out, whole the news media went nuts about rap having violent lyrics. Not one of them listened to the song, because Body Count is a *METAL* joint. Doesn't have anything to do with rap. But the idea of black folks having a metal band wasn't something America was capable of comprehending at the time. It's true that not every cop is like that, but every last one of them defends the ones who are. Which makes all of them "like that" as far as I'm concerned.
Ice T started this bs d after he was already a rap God. He's the original OG, but he loves all kinds of music. He started this band so his best friend Ernie C could play the guitar. Plus thru his whole mus I c career playing a cop on law and order svu
Fun(ish) fact...my brother and i got the last 2 copies of the album with this song on it before record stores were forced to replace them with the version without the song. (I know we had the last 2 because we called and/or went to EVERY store in the New Orleans area (where we dwell) .... took days...but we found a small store woth TWO copies left. Good times. (Good reaction dude)... check out his rap album O.G. esp. The song MIDNIGHT....and get ready for a story told so well you'll be able to picture every syllable. Oh...and yes...Bleep most of the police.
It was removed by Ice T himself after only a few months. There was no big recall they just stopped printing it took the song off then started printing it again. I got it in the first couple weeks so my cassette had the song! I was such a proud little white boy! 😂😂❤❤

This song created a sh*tstorm when this album came out. After all the heat, Ice pulled the album with this song and replaced it with something else. I made sure to get the original before the pull. Still don't regret it. I just don't play it at weddings.
Old president Bush didn't like this song and made them take all the albums out of stores. So they made an (American) version of the album with no Cop Killer. I live in Europe and found the album for 5 Gulden at a secondhand shop, WITH the song Cop Killer. :)
I always respected Ice-T for this side of his career. I thought it was cool that he stepped outside of hip hop to do this. But, I also didn't think they were very good. In fact I thought they sucked. But I did like the effort. It was a super cool time for music. Artists were crossing over and playing with everyone.
Umm, it's just Body Count. Ice-T is the lead singer. Ohh man, the Ice-T rap catalog and his Body Count metal band catalog are going to be great reaction fodder

Body Count's in da house! BC! BC! BC! Muthaphuckaaaaaaaaaaa
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
@metalsquid Yes, that one is a great song, too! Also "Body Count Anthem" is another good one!
@@joesmith8725 hell yeah, brother. and Body m/f Count from Born Dead!
The album with this version of the song was only on shelves for a week and a half before it was pulled. If you listen to the entire album it is not just this song as a gimmick, it's got its moments.
CRASH! Ice T-- '99 problems' do it now haha❤
🙏🏽🙏🏽🔥💯
99 Problems is actually Ice-T's original song that Jay-Z paid for the hook...
Check out more Body Count, especially the song and music video from the movie Universal Soldier with Jean Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren in the video as their characters in the movie
Will do
@@StaxReacts check out the song and video from the movie Airheads With Lemmy from Motörhead,Ice T and Wilfred Crane from Ugly Kid Joe called Born to Raise Hell
Ice T was brilliant.. Gangster rap to heavy metal. He was a fan of all music
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Holy cow 🐮🐮🐮
🔥🔥‼️
Saw them at Lollapalooza in 91, great show great album
🙏🏽🙏🏽🔥🔥
It's hard to describe how big a deal this song was, protests, bans on the record sales, cop unions freaking out, it all made Ice-T likely the most hated man in Amerikkka. But most all of them missed his larger point.
Amazing
I had this Tape in High School. My favorite track was K*K B!^ch. Too explicit for YT.
Omg
I bought the banned 'Banned' Body Count CD off eBay, paid a pretty penny for it. So worth it.
"Talk shit, get shot"
"This is why we ride"
💯💯💯‼️
Body Count is still around and have gotten even BETTER with age..
Check out some of their most recent tracks especially BLACK HOODIE… Ice has never stopped speaking the truth! 🤘🏼
Bettttt
Not the Ice-T track I'd have expected you to start with 😁
Body Count was his metal side-gig. Check out the self-titled song he included in his hip-hop album Original Gangster, where he introduce the project to his established hip-hop audience, I think you'll appreciate his take -- > watch?v=qaLS_AccLYk
🔥🔥‼️
Yes, this song was INSANELY controversial when it was released. So much so that record stores would refuse to sell it and the song was removed from the first pressing of the record. Now Ice T plays a cop on TV lol.
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Check out "No Lives Matter" by Body Count (Ice T). It's really good.
Betttt
@@StaxReacts 🤘😆🤘
The next stop for Ice was the US SENATE. They tried to send him to prison for a song. But, the first amendment was on his side.
I used to listen to this back in the days all the time. They're a lot like suicidal tendencies. The first two albums are really good.
🙏🙏🔥🔥
ERNIE C is the guitar player he's amazing!!
Ice T started this bs d after he was already a rap God. He's the original OG, but he loves all kinds of music. He started this band so his best friend Ernie C could play the guitar. Plus thru his whole mus I c career playing a cop on law and order svu
🙏🏽🙏🏽🔥
Here is another Banger ....Renegades of Funk from Rage agains the Maschine...The Music Video is Super Dope ...Bye ✌️😉
🙌
Ice-t squeeze the trigger, the tower, hunted child
💯🙏🏽🔥
Fun(ish) fact...my brother and i got the last 2 copies of the album with this song on it before record stores were forced to replace them with the version without the song. (I know we had the last 2 because we called and/or went to EVERY store in the New Orleans area (where we dwell) .... took days...but we found a small store woth TWO copies left. Good times. (Good reaction dude)... check out his rap album O.G. esp. The song MIDNIGHT....and get ready for a story told so well you'll be able to picture every syllable.
Oh...and yes...Bleep most of the police.
Amazing

Midnight and 6 `in the morning are my favourite
Bettttt
This song used to be a banned song. it was also removed from the CD
Omgggg
I had their cassettes. I got the one with this song, too. Before they banned it on future rerelases.
It was removed by Ice T himself after only a few months. There was no big recall they just stopped printing it took the song off then started printing it again. I got it in the first couple weeks so my cassette had the song! I was such a proud little white boy! 😂😂❤❤
If someone tells you that Metal and Rap don't mix .... show them Body Count!
That’s a fact
Dude, you didn't know Ice T? Son, you've got to look down at the shoulders all modern hardcore rap is standing on.
I remember this song stirred up the FBI big time when it came out. Look up the news conference they did bout this song.

You need to do Tower, midnight and new Jack Hustler. Ice is probably low key the greatest gangster story teller.
This song created a sh*tstorm when this album came out.
After all the heat, Ice pulled the album with this song and replaced it with something else.
I made sure to get the original before the pull.
Still don't regret it.
I just don't play it at weddings.
Stax didn't react to "Cult of Personality" yet?
Nah
@@StaxReacts Cult of Personality by the band Living Colour...
Old president Bush didn't like this song and made them take all the albums out of stores. So they made an (American) version of the album with no Cop Killer. I live in Europe and found the album for 5 Gulden at a secondhand shop, WITH the song Cop Killer. :)
Do The Girl Tried to Kill Me by him! It’s like his version of a License to Ill type song with the production and humor.
‼️💯🙏🏽
Gotta listen to Talk shit Get shot
🙏🏽🙏🏽🔥🔥
Nice! Love a bit of Ice T I'd recommend 'The Iceberg Album' 100% best album alongside Original Gangstas!
Also where's these Eazy E reactions?!?!
Thanks, and I have an easy e reaction dropping tomorrow
@StaxReacts fuggin awesome my dude!
I always respected Ice-T for this side of his career. I thought it was cool that he stepped outside of hip hop to do this. But, I also didn't think they were very good. In fact I thought they sucked. But I did like the effort. It was a super cool time for music. Artists were crossing over and playing with everyone.
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🔥🔥
Umm, it's just Body Count. Ice-T is the lead singer. Ohh man, the Ice-T rap catalog and his Body Count metal band catalog are going to be great reaction fodder
🔥🔥🙏🏽
🇧🇷🔥
🙏‼️‼️‼️
They are still around and just put a new album out a year ago. Chrck out no lives matter
