  • We react and review Sikhism Explained by the RUclips Channel Cogito.
Sikhism, the 5th largest and youngest of the world religions. A religion that preaches about love, peace, and the equality of humankind, but also asks it’s followers to carry swords. Sikhism originated in the Punjab area of India and Pakistan, 500 years ago. The Punjab, the land of five rivers, is one of the most historically and culturally dense areas on Earth. Today there are about 25 million Sikhs. They make up about 2% of India's population but about 60% of the Punjab's. The Sikh diaspora is spread out across the world with concentrations in the UK, Canada, The US, East Africa, Australia, and Malaysia. Sikhs interestingly enough make up almost 1.5% of Canada's population which is second only to India. So who are the Sikh’s, what do they believe, and why does everyone confuse them for Muslims? Well Let’s Find Out.

As a Hindu with the surname Singh, I love Sikhism. Such a kind, compassionate Dharma with respect for all, teaching the path to Moksha/Mukti. I can fully resonate my Vaishnava faith with the teaching of the holy gurus. I have nothing but immense respect for them.
I see no distinction between the teachings of Sikh gurus and Vaishnava gurus. Both are equally venerable for me. Too bad some people try to create divisions and spread hate. My prayers for liberation of all sentient beings.

17:06 golden Temple is the English name but it's original name is Hari mandir (as said in the video). Mandir in Sanskrit means temple and Hari is Name of Krishna. But locally, it's simply called Har-mandir.
Whenever you visit India, kindly visit Hari mandir too. Initially it used to house a huge, golden statue of four armed Lord Vishnu but was removed for political reasons. Still, brilliant place to visit tho. Also, thoroughly enjoyed your reaction, as I do always. Sabine's face is so expressive 😊

It is the only religion which has it's holy scripture divided by raags(31 raags to be precise). raags r classical tunes, not only that Gurus where not only spiritual beings but also where master musicians they invented strings instruments which helps to connect to god not only by words but putting music onto those words puts u on paths to connect to the one more effectively.. The god in concept is closer to Brahman rather than Krishna. Sikhism draws many of its ideas from Advaita Vedanta, and the Guru Granth Sahib uses names such as Raam, Khudai, Hari to refer to the nirankar Brahman, the Param-Atama, with the mool mantra and Guru Mantra as ways to attain mokhsha from samsara.

Sounds like Guru Nanak was just simplifying “Sanatan Dharma” with a touch of “one omnipresent God” like “Para-Brahma” but without forms (like in Islam).
The concept of one para-Brahma, maya, Heaven and Hell being just realms & it could be right here right now in this life, karma and reincarnation is all in Sanatan Dharma. The verna system, however, was misunderstood or misused by some for their own selfish purposes. Sounds like even Gurus of those times didn’t understand the Verna system.
In ancient times, children were sent to Gurukul (schools) and at the time of their graduation, their Guru’s/teachers use to tell them weather they were “Brahmin”, “Chettriya” .. etc depending on their qualities … this should have been proof enough to understand that Verna system is not cast system !!
Islam, however, still has a cast system - which we never hear anyone taking about .. !!
With all due respect to the great Guru Nanak - Sikhism is just Hinduism Simplified !! 🙏🙏🙏🙏

The most important Sikh Scripture is Sri Guru Granth Sahib. It reveals who Waheguru is and openly declares:
Vāheguru Vāheguru Vāheguru ji, *You are lotus-eyed with sweet speech,* exalted and embellished with millions of companions. *Mother Yaśhodā feeds You* curd-rice. Gazing upon *Your supremely beautiful form* and hearing the musical sounds of Your silver bells tinkling, she is intoxicated with delight. Death's pen and command are in Your hands. Tell me, who can erase it? *Śiva and Brahmā yearn to enshrine You in their hearts. O Ādi Puruṣa, *O beloved of Lakṣmī, You are the forever true Vāheguru* Vāheguru Vāheguru jee-o. *You are Lord Rāma,* the highest abode, spotless, endless, incomparable. *For the sake of Your pure hearted devotee, Prahlāda, You assumed the form of Narasiṃha* and tore apart Hiraṇyakaśipu with Your claws. *O infinite Parabrahm, adorned with conch, discus, lotus and mace, You deceived Balirāja as Lord Vāmana.* Who can know You? O Ādi Puruṣa, O beloved of Lakṣmī, You are forever true, O Vāheguru Vāheguru Vāheguru ji. *You wear yellow robes, with teeth like jasmine flowers; You sport with Your Beloved [Rādhārānī], with Your mala around Your neck, and You joyfully adorn Your head with the crown of peacock feathers.* Satguru, Satguru, *Satguru is Lord Kṛṣṇa.* You, enticer of Balirāja, smother the mighty and fulfill the devotees. *You are prince Kānhā,* immaculate, whose drum beats across the universe and for whom the Sun and moon rise. Lord Rāma of contemplation, You are Destroyer of sin, who brings pleasure to the beings of all realms, the *God of gods, Śeṣanāga Himself. You took avatāras as Matsya, Kurma, Varāha and You play near the banks of yamunā.* O mind of Gayand, enshrine His name within your heart and renounce wickedness. This Satguru Satguru *Satguru is none but Lord Kṛṣṇa.*

    • @TonyMandez-mo2ut
      @TonyMandez-mo2ut 7 месяцев назад

Yes the video creator is correct, in that the religion of Sikhism has actually made it it's mantra (its codified in the religion) to actually respect women by not treating them as mere objects (as Guru Nanak once said "from Women Kings are born"). In Sikhism you are actually meant to practise equality towards women, in the same way that classes and the backwards caste system were meant to be stamped out in Sikhism (whether people choose to follow this aspect of the religion to the letter is another thing entirely). Worshipping Hindu female gods or paying reverence to women without being obligated to practise it in real life means nothing.

    Hello sabina and Roger ji.....
Firstly it's "Ek Omkar"... Not on.... If you see the symbol of " Ek Omkar" You can easily see " Om" Symbol on the right and 1 on the left....
Secondly yess guru nanak dev ji is a Hindu=sanatan.... His father name is kalyan das ji and mother name is tripta ji both are hindus name...
Thirdly original guru granth sahib is not placed in Golden Temple... But still every book is a holy book...
And please try not to compare our gods with allah 😶 .....
Sikhs=Buddhism=Jainism=Hinduism are a part of one family ❤
Christianity is started by saint jesus after getting enlightenment from Bharat ❤ so technically every religion comes from sanatan....
Except the religion started by prophet Mohammed by writing quran.... 😌

@@phoenixj1299 Originally I would agree. However, Hinduism now refers someone who believes in the Vedas and their accompanying texts. Sikhism rejects that as told by both Guru Nanak Ji and Guru Gobind Singh Ji in particular. No Sikh Guru has ever worshipped Kali because that would be totally against the tenet of Sikhisms’ believe in one universal deity that cannot be described or attributed to a personality. Kali is not that. She is an emanation of Durga.
None of the Sikh Gurus worshipped any Hindu deities. They may have referenced them for metaphors, but that’s not worship.
