There are at least 10 things wrong with that statement.
Why ? I mean if I was working as a duo for a long time I’m expecting to hear news/info from my team mate rather than my company so I understand that coco was dumbfounded when she hear the news but idk everyone wasn’t good at communicating…

They’re on a team, not competing. They should be updated on one another cuz it affects the both of them: their schedules, their time, their friendship, etc.

Nah, she blamed the COMPANY for how they were treating Sori vs Her, and she was honest. You guys treat Kpop stars, and East Asians in general, as little dolls that have to act all cute and pretty and perfect the way you want them to. And when they break mold and get FOR REAL about what's going on, you guys get mad that the perfect bestie image you had in your head was ruined - honesty be damned.
I will always prefer a real honest gritty breakdown of what's going on and how someone is feeling because of it, vs. a staged k-pop/k-media production of a statement that is overly perpared/practice - like what you saw from Sori at 17:49.
At the end of the day I think they supported Sori more because she went down the generic sexy-cute theme, where Coco wanted to do a more modest/indie/close-to-cocosori type of theme, that wasn't as mainstream friendly.
I blame the company at the end of the day. Too many of these companies let favoritism infect how they treat their groups **cough** YG and 2NE1 **cough** and it honestly ruins them. Which is so damn disappointing.

Coco was very bitter during the whole thing but she would always fail to mention that her company paid for her whole debut, no crowd funding AND she solo debuted first. They also both auditioned for different programs at the same time and Coco failed hers. She got a fair chance and even got her solo debut first, she just didn't do well so her company shifted focus to Sori because Sori was bringing them more money. But Coco technically was favored first, she just didn't produce any results.

Touch is one of the best kpop songs by soloist. Wish Sori got more recognition.

i don't really know how much info is out there. but watching this video also reminded me of how BOL4 (another duo) went their own separate ways, etc. would be interesting to see you cover it sometime. as for cocosori, i supported both girls in their endeavors and perhaps in the end it was just not meant to be. i can easily see both their sides. i also admit i've just learned to be more sus of companies vs. the artist.

OODCHILD (the artist name for the girl that left) kind of touched on how there was unfair treatment from the company and how the other part of the duo got better treatment (I think she implied it may have been due to looks(?)), but I also heard that the company didn't like ODDCHILD because she wasn't consistent in keeping up with practices and wasn't as hard as a worker (?). I just know ODDCHILD doesn't like the other girl that much anymore (even tho they were besties when the duo started), but not as bad as Coco.

Coco had her solo debut first, she had promotions first, and she didn't deliver any results so the attention shifted to Sori who ended up doing better. But technically, Coco had the companies attention first, they paid fully for her first single, which she always failed to mention.
Exactly! I was a huge Coco fan and followed her ALOT during this time. They definitely gave her a lot of chances and poured into her first before Sori.
Drama aside Mi Amor, Sugarcake, and Touch is one of the best musical release streak in K-Pop. Just undeniable bops back to back to back.

I think years later I still think coco was the one that made this a problem. She was fine when she debuted first and was having comebacks but when Sori got hers after gaining some popularity it was an issue and the company was playing favorites.

I'm thinking Sori got a lot more money from production and stuff because she did really good in Mixnine and they knew they would get money back.
I followed sori for YEARS after she appeared on idol master. I sided strongly with her during that whole conflict but seeing cocos side many years later I really do see it was unfair to both of them how the company went about handling things. Communication prob would've made things much more different. I hope they can one day makeup and reunite cus quirky concepts like orange caramel never lives long enough in kpop.

I’m probably the only proof that Coco’s friend Edward Avila was here commenting that he didn’t like sori as a person but admitted she was a victim of the system. Also that the CEO was trash and that coco has done better after appearing in a dating show.

I remember watching Coco's vlogs all the time, and then she and Edward got nasty towards Sori and I stopped supporting them. It was shitty of Mol Ent. to not communicate that they were going to give both members a solo debut, but I don't blame them for favoring Sori. She was clearly the bigger success, which means more money for the company. Coco's social media following (at least at the time) was pretty good too so they could have capitalized on that.
The constant use of “Her” is telling me everything I need to know
I like Coco because of her personality and the fact that she displays what it's like to be a kpop idol (back when I watch her videos).
Despite what happened, I didn't take sides because I understood both Coco and Sori's perspectives. At the end, I'm glad the two of them did end up being happy with the path they have chose to go.

I understand Coco's feelings but from a professional perspective the smartest move was to give Sori a solo debut because of her popularity, not to mention Coco had her solo debut already and Sori didn't make a whole deal about it lol, the company just had to talk things out with them.
The whole thing could've been avoided very easily, it's sad how things had to end that way, even after all these years I stand by Sori's side, Coco didn't use the best words to express herself due to jealousy blinding her, and as I can see from her friend Edward's comment they're still bitter about it which tells you a lot.

So she essentially is saying "because I didn't get this, Sori shouldn't of gotten this either." in reference to the amount spent on solo debut. Despite the fact that she got to do a solo debut first, and that Sori was more popular. Sori brought more revenue into the company, that's why they were focusing on her. Coco seems like a really jealous person. It's like the people who complain about debt forgiveness "if i had to suffer, so should you" when you could just be happy that someone doesn't have to suffer. If Sori had debuted first before Coco, she would've probably had the same budget, but because she debuted after her popularity spike, they would've obviously had more money to fund Sori's with because of her own work making them profit. Coco clearly didn't make enough profit for them to spend time on her career. While yeah that is favoritism, it's not uncommon, and it literally makes sense. If coco wasn't popular and earning them money why would they waste money on funding a career that is costing them money and not making a profit. It sucks but from a business standpoint it's very obvious. And yes, the company should've been 100% transparent and communicated better, but to me it seems like Coco would've probably found some way to be jealous at the end of the day. There are plenty of instances in kpop where there is unequal treatment, yet the members go on their way and don't spew hate about the more popular member because they're jealous, Coco did not handle her emotions well at all, in my opinion. Just the way she says "HER" gives me the ick, it literally SOUNDS jealous the way she says it.
I had never heard of these artists before, but I will definitely check out the music!
Suggestion for future video: Blackswan! They have a very lengthy history, and have changed almost all of their members iirc.
Each of their current members has a very interesting, personal story!

Sori was the only professional one out of Coco and the company. She did her job well, and did not publicly air their problems. I always remember Sori for her sweet personality and trying to be kind to the others.
The same can't be said for Coco who was so bitter and jealous.
From a business persoective I would support sori too. They're actually a perfect duo. Coco has the popular visual and personality and sori has the drive to survive the industry. Although the company is always the problem, I feel like the company was still supporting her. Sori was passing all her auditions but they still giving her solos. After mixnine, they had their comeback and the company sees that sori suits mature concepts. I think jealousy is part of the industry but the most successful ones just accepts it and bides for their time. This not telling the other their solos feels like the standard procedure, sori was probably advised not to tell coco. They knew they're gonna spend more and push sori more. And it's gonna cause friction. I feel like coco just doesn't suit being in the industry.

We look at two employees, one deserves the promotion and they got it, while the other is mad they didn't get promoted. There was favoritism. The company saw Sori as more profitable so they put all their efforts on her. It happens quite a lot in this industry especially the company is small with limited funds. Since the start, the duo wasn't profitable so the company tested out different things to work out the situation. Coco's songs was ok but it wasn't as striking as Sori's. Also, her popularity from mix 9 helped. If you're a small company, what would you do? Supporting the artist is a gamble. Though Coco's solo could have worked if it was promoted better but the company doesn't want to gamble the money on her.

I think neither of the girls are to blame. Their company did handle communication poorly, however I do think that maybe if the girls communicated to eachother when they wanted to solo debut instead of their company lowkey making them compete against one another, things would've happened differently 🩷 just my thoughts on it tho.
Add on: even if the company were aware on the fact that both the girls wanted their solo debut, the company should've took it upon themselves to inform both the girls that they would have different schedules due to their wants of a solo if that makes sense and plus the hypothetical costs of everything.

fact: idols are human 2, all of their emotions, such as jealousy, annoyance and others. They are just like us, the difference is that the make music and stream videos.
As someone who's friends with Coco, and knew about the true evil of the CEO of that company, this whole situation and the way they were able to twist it in their favor was so frustrating lol. I'm so glad it's gone. I truly feel like because Coco was a female idol speaking out about her frustrations with her company, it became "she's so problematic and unprofessional". But if it was a male idol it would be "wow he's so outspoken" 😒While I myself don't like Sori as a person, I believe she was a victim to the system as well and was just trying to be a good entertainer.

I vividly remember this saga as it was unfolding several years ago. I was not a fan of this duo, more of a casual listener and I did follow both of them on Instagram, but I initially took Sori's side since I felt Coco was just jealous, petty & unprofessional. Now I can kinda see Coco's POV. I did follow Sori's music for a bit but eventually stopped. I unfollowed and unsubscribed from Coco's RUclips channel as she now makes videos for her Korean audience, which is fine if this is the audience she's after. Sori looks to have started a clothing brand.
