Well, Tom, I never expected to find so many haters in the comment section. Nevermind them, I personally thank you for your appearance and performance down on OCCUPY WALL ST AND LA!! I'm one of the lucky ones, I've seen you LIVE in NYC @ the City Winery this past Sept 1st, great performance! We asked and you CAME! I admire you and your dedication to your family and fans...AMERICA! And thankyou for the suggestions to our President, I hope he sees this video! Peace to you,Mary Gerald Phillips
People are hating too much on his singing. In recent interviews he has even stated that singing is relatively new to him and he has barely began doing so only within the past year. He still has great potential to mature his singing. Even at the end of the day he has a spot in the greatest guitar players of all time.
I'd say he is important and revolutionary, we need more people of his status to speak out with passionate words and dedication. It's not about how he compares to bob dylan or trying to be revolutionary, its about your message and what you stand for. Who gives a fuck if he aint a singer and it doesnt get you as amped as Rage. THIS IS FOLK. Listen to the music that started way back in the early days of the forming unions, often people just singing badly or with a guitar in hand. This is history.
No, I love Tom and what he satnds for be he himself have said that the problem with high politicians is that to be a high politician you have to compromise.. and eventually lie..
shut up Tom Morello makes music for us, for us to understand that the system where we are living at is shit. he makes changes with his music and that is not nothing, in fact i think that is more important than giving donations LONG LIVE TOM MORELLO AND RATM!!!
Cornell was struggling with voice-problems all the way through the Audioslave-period, from years of smoking, and also had to have some surgery. He has since worked his voice back in shape, and these days sounds incredible again. On his accoustic "Songbook" live-CD from 2011 he sounds brilliant, and the live-clips from the promotion of the new Soundgarden-CD shows that Cornell is back in shape! \m/ Vedder and Staley aren't even in the same league as Cornell vocally.
@vinceraney the reason this isn't the best is because he doesn't have a microphone so he is trying to say the words as loud as he can. The album version is very soft.
"why are you guys repeating everything I say?" ..."why are you guys repeating everything I say?" "No seriously stop, it's annoying" ..."No seriously stop, it's annoying" "STOP IT! UH! DAMN....MOM!" ..."stop it, damn, mom"
what are these comments, should we not be all for the same thing and not discuss about how good morello is, the point is: Famous people joining in. THE REVOLUTION IS COMING!
With regards to the comment about Mariah Carey: The reason you wont find any protesters who like Mariah Carey has nothing to do with her vocal ability, and everything to do with her lifestyle and personality. Having said that, you are right in that singing a protest song with a pristine voice just wouldn't work. You have to at least sound like you've been through the wars, I agree - which is what makes Springsteen's music so powerful.
You're the only person brave enough to reply - I like Tom Morello, and I'm sure he could sing if he practiced more (but I expect everyone tells him his singing is great - hell, even Bruce Springsteen once introduced him as "one of the greatest voices in Rock") - but whatever, he should know better than to listen to the praise of those unable to speak the truth out of respect for what he has done for music. Tom Morello - ignore the empty praise from your so-called fans & practice your singing! =)
yes i heard that, in the live in cuba his voice wasnt good, yet though like you said he wasnt in a good shape vocally in audioslave tom morello said in that dvd that he was the best singer in the world, i didnt listened his solo cd you said but i saw him singing with pj hunger strike in 2011 and he was good again, i know he is great anyway, yet i dont agree that he is in a another league from vedder, but thats a matter of tastes i guess.
live shows is where they make their money. It is all about managing you money and selling out more shows. 10-15K per show is not a bad gig. Esp if you hit 10 shows a month. $100,000 - $150,000 a month is not bad income.
Tom isn't it surprising how un aware and ignorant the average Rage fan is ? It appears they didn't listen to the lyrics whatsoever by these ridiculous comments. Keep up the good work i.e. Rage Inc which set the tone for political music in the modern era kudos amigo. Peace
Great video. Shows you what sheep these people are. They can't even form their own thoughts. After the first sentence, all i could hear was "Baaaa, Baaaaa, Baaaa." The Fabled Protest Song.
@LordWhorfinX2 The point is not to just give to charity to alleviate the suffering on particular occasions. However important on many occasions, charity will aways be a drop in the ocean. What Tom does is adress the reasons that make people be in need of charity, and attack the policies that do, so his actions are more important than charity. Other than that, the band has given a lot to charity all these years, who are you to say how much they should give to charity?
yea i would love to see a song from you since youre such a great musician, i mean you are talking cheap about tom morello, in a video where he really doesnt care if he sings good or not, and he doesnt care if his song is good, there is a thing called sending the message, but you probably just listen to commercial shitty music so this is something new to you, keep it up listening to chris bown in your mansion bro!
He can do it independently like other artists, his band is big enough so they can they'll be able to make more money to put into the economy. No one needs $50 million, donate 90 percent of that he'll still be fine. Yes if every celebrity talking about the environment and taxes can do something they just want to sound like they care
Man this dude has a ballsack of steel. How can he stand in the middle of that crowd and talk about wall street when he has an estimated net worth of 60 million dollars. Yes thats right 60,000,000 US dollars. He must be good at hiding his money. I used to like rage but come on are you serious? Like not even 1 million or even 5 million but 60 million?
So beautiful words. but the truth is, that when RATM gave a concert in my country, wich is Portugal, they requested police escort from the hotel where they were staying (very fancy and nice one) to the concert, wich of course, results in the spending of public funds to do so. is that normal? or the classical dont do what i do, just do what i say?
@CkyRckr That's the problem a large percentage of people probably want to go back to work while of course a percentage has no problem raising our taxes to pay for them. Me personally think a huge con job was perpetrated against Americans by large corporations and our politicians. I've listened to the Occupy Wall Street and the Tea Party movement they are sending similar messages but from different sides of the coin.
he is a musician, how do you expect to live from music without signing to a record company?then your idea of being real is utopic, since he like everybody lives in a capitalist model is logical that he will sell his records to make money, since you cant live without it. And by the way he isnt liberal, he supports socialism, which is way different than liberalism(ideology that stays inside the capitalist economic system) and charity??lol do you think that charity can make a change in this mess?
though his solo records are folk songs like this, this isnt even his style, i guess he ios just trying to do basic music for the people so i dont get why you troll this like that, of course he isnt in a theater with all the equipment, he is just singing with a guitar, the point is that you wont see Steve Vai going there to play WITH the people, the point isnt that he doesnt sounds like one of the players you mentioned, thats pretty obvious
i also like audioslave, and soundgarden too, of course cornell is great, but if you see the live in cuba dvd for example, his voice isnt in a good shape as in the records. that dissapointed me a bit considering that if you see vedder or staley singing live they even sound better.Anyway my point was that you are watching this expecting it to be a Satriani live when he actually is singing with an acoustic, almost no equipment, and he is just hanging with the people there,he isnt a singer anyway
so on the basis of him being rich his message is worthless? earning money isn't a crime, stealing money is, and tom morello earned all his money in a very legitimate way.
In Tom M's most recent paid commercial, to promote Zack's return to RATM, in which Zack is undecided about, he speaks out against corruption due to Corporate America, yet placed a bet with Forbes, an investment, that Zack would return. This is a special kind of stage clown, and the inspiration for many an RATM song that Zack created.
LOL! Don't get your panties in a bunch there, Franny! :) Although I think this stuff is crap, I thought Audioslave rocked pretty good, mainly because of Cornell, but still.. I mainly listen to instrumental rock/fusion/prog like Derek Sherinian, Larry Carlton, Lukather, Paul Gilbert, Satriani, Steve Morse and Tony MacAlpine. I wouldn't say that I'm a GREAT musician, but I'm ok. I'll give you a chance to shoot me down! :) Go to soundlift com, and search Roy Bratbakken. I have 10 songs there! :)
"...banks are more powerful than standing armies." (-T.Jefferson) And Tom thinks that a guitar will even scratch the surface?? Appreciate the thought, though. That is, rising against tyranny and all that jazz. He is an ENFJ. And ENFJs are prone to thinking that every idea is a great one. And I mean EVERY idea. Here, he's preaching to the choir. These people already know this! I like him But doing this reaches only reaches a few people and discredits him (as radical-ish) with the ones who matter!
I have to agree with you, the only cause he's ever donated to was getting RATM to #1 on the Christmas charts. Seems a bit odd he's making himself out to be the leader of the free world.
Tom Morello writes some awesome protest music, love the lyrics and message, oh and the music is kick ass - as always ... btw, if you like Tom Morello, or protest music in general, you might also like Bushmaster featuring Gary Brown. Check out their song "War On The Poor" on my youtube channel. Your friend in music, Unoyaga
You're missing the point if that's what you're concerned with. Bob Dylan was a horrid singer, yet his vocals became that of a generation. Its about time you "rally round" Tom because this guy is what our generation needs terribly.
@basletum Seriously dude?! Ive worked in a warehouse and Ive seen thousands of products being sent to poorer countrys and regions all donated by wal-mart....a corporation.
@vinceraney Watch his other songs you can't form an opinion because of one song that was performed with the lowest quality material on some street in New York. Still better than the modern people that need auto tune to sound less suckish. But still suckish
@Neuromance27 So coporations donating material bullshit is a bad thing? and with what money will you get all this food and clothing with? Is it coming from your pocket? So your saying poor people should turn down material bullshit because it comes from wal-mart or some other corporation? That they should only accept things from some volunteer that doesnt have a dime to give them?!
@doelstu Talk to any player that knows anything, and they would tell you Morello revolutionized guitar the way that EVH did with Eruption. To say that he couldn't roadie for a white Son House wannabe is ridiculous. I like Jack White, but lets no kid ourselves here. Morello = Original White = Original take on a black man's blues songs.
the only thing that a rich think is "nice day to make money"i don't care how but i want money, money.(politics, economical murders, global companies e.t.c.)Morello is a guitarist player.he lives to write MUSIC hello!!! for the people.Never killed others or sale pour countries like economical murders in the name of your goverment
Tom, if you ever read this message, thanks for coming down to NYC, thanks for making your voice be heard. Thank you!
Thanks Tom. We need more people like you to show support for the movement.
how can you not love this guy.....
Yeah!!!! Artists join the movement......inspires me to raise my voice!
Well, Tom, I never expected to find so many haters in the comment section. Nevermind them, I personally thank you for your appearance and performance down on OCCUPY WALL ST AND LA!! Oh Tom.....you got me all excited and then you sang............no stop!
very nice tom, very nice
Everyone there was so lucky. To have each other. Including awesomeness like Tom.
People are hating too much on his singing. In recent interviews he has even stated that singing is relatively new to him and he has barely began doing so only within the past year. He still has great potential to mature his singing. Even at the end of the day he has a spot in the greatest guitar players of all time.
He sounds like any other folk singer, their voices are the beautiful voice of resistance
I love watching all the people.
WE NEED RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE BACK! we need rage against the machine more then we ever needed!!
thank god for tom morello...I'm glad he is standing up for what's right
This is why i love tom morello
From Venezuela the land of a Power People Revolution ...You are real Americans !!!! Ocuppy !!!
ONE BIG UNION OF ALL THE WORKERS..
Justice diminished anywhere is justice diminished everywhere.
Morello is the man!!!
damnit as soon as i saw tom morello i spine chilled
No, I love Tom and what he satnds for be he himself have said that the problem with high politicians is that to be a high politician you have to compromise.. and eventually lie..
They did in '07, haven't made an album yet though.
shut up
Tom Morello makes music for us, for us to understand that the system where we are living at is shit. he makes changes with his music and that is not nothing, in fact i think that is more important than giving donations
LONG LIVE TOM MORELLO AND RATM!!!
@PIlotrcm The point is so that the people in the back can hear if you don't have access to a microphone.
Preach it Tom!
Love Mr.M
Fucking Epic in deed.
"And I suspect that if one flew, then ninety nine would follow"
Tom is the man!
Let's hope those 99 follow...
aww yeah.
"Ok, stop clapping... back to the serious shit"
LOL

Why was everyone repeating what he said?
Is that Tom Waits with the camera on the floor?!
Tom has the courage to take his message to the streets.
I AGREE
tom morrello for president!!!!
@vinceraney the reason this isn't the best is because he doesn't have a microphone so he is trying to say the words as loud as he can. The album version is very soft.
theres where your wrong tom is all about revolutionary movements he is the one who should be speaking without a doubt
I hear an echo somewhere.
Driving me nuts!
@ChrisJ1986 Because loud sound systems are not allowed there so they used this old technique to spread the words.
damn, i didn't know he can't sing! for someone in the music business and sold millions of records.
That's called the occupy microphone: the people near to him repeat everything so the rest of the people can hear it.
Oh cool
"why are you guys repeating everything I say?"
..."why are you guys repeating everything I say?"
"No seriously stop, it's annoying"
..."No seriously stop, it's annoying"
"STOP IT! UH! DAMN....MOM!"
..."stop it, damn, mom"
what are these comments, should we not be all for the same thing and not discuss about how good morello is, the point is:
Famous people joining in.
THE REVOLUTION IS COMING!
Tom Morello and RATM is against the society in their songs, and that's very cool.
Why is everybody repeating everything he says? I don't get it.

He was probably releasing some new music or a book.

@eddiehaskell7 i believe it was Bush who signed the bailout.

@mrblueangeldood he is in the top 30 guitarists of all time in rolling stone magazine.

So everyone can hear.
morello needs a singer
Dude worth $20,000,000 pulls up to occupy wall street, gives everybody a free acoustic song and goes home.
Tom became an elite 1%er by working for a multinational wall street corporation named Sony. Rage on dude.
@ego78th on tour in europe
The words to this song suck, but Morello is unparalleled in his style on guitar. It's too bad this video does not display that.
The protesters are marrying Tom Morello.
That's Tom Morello dude.....

Restore liberty, end the fed, elect Ron Paul President 2012.
