The rules should be changed. An interference call to start off a heat should be a 2 point deduction from the surfer's overall heat score. Griff absolutely circumcised a few of those waves and the penalty was too steep given the circumstances. They could also make it so there's different tiers of interference penalties. Griff was the far better surfer that heat and deserved to win. He could've had two 9.43's and still lost the heat because of a paddle battle for a mid wave with over 32 minutes left to surf. To me, that was just two guys fighting hard for a wave and it could cost Griff a shot at a world title. WSL should definitely take a hard look at this. The ramifications are far too costly for such a small incident

I'd say kind of a poor call

Strange ruling, as a surfer shouldn‘T take of side ways to the breaking part of the wave. Unfortunate cause griffin was absolutely shredding

But Jack Robinson’s board getting in Zeke’s way at Sunset that time wasn’t an interference? Joao just got smoked in this heat and I think knew he couldn’t beat Griff in a fair battle but bad judge’s call.

Its just bad editing, I don't know who they pay to do it but its pretty average, this whole comp the editing has been all over the place and even mistakes in titles. Can't believe how easily people fall into conspiracy these days 😄

You obviously don't surf or haven't watched the full heat replay. If you watch from the 3 minute mark you can see that Joao was further out and closer to the peak and Griff clearly tries to snake Joao by cutting across to the inside at the last moment but completely fks it up and deserved the interference for such a dog move. With Joao wearing head gear his peripheral vision wouldn't of been great and wouldn't of really known where Griff was.

Snappy loose style, probably has small fins. I prefer big powerful turns but it is nice to watch a diversity of styles, all the same wouldn't be as nice to watch imo.
They still made everything to over score Calapinto. The final wave of Chianca was much better than the final wave of Colapinto, but they gave 8+ to Colapinto and only 7+ Chianca.
