    I'm impressed with the judging. It really does seem to be pretty objective. That second wave of John's was definitely way better than anything else in the heat. It's a trip to see him pull something like that off under pressure.

    • @tonitoxx
      @tonitoxx 3 месяца назад +2

      Hell nah they gave him an 8 for that but gave a 6 for the first wild card wave ? it was a better wave

      John def tore that wave to pieces and got a fair score, but I do think Bryan's first wave could have gone a little bit higher. He had three good turns on maybe the biggest wave of the event so far. In my eyes the difference between his 6.83 and John's 4.33 should have been more than that 2.5

    I feel like Bryan was a bit underscored his 6.83 should’ve been at least a 7 John got a 4.83 for one air and Bryan got a sick bomb with variation and same with his backup wave a bit underscored imo

    • @Togzzzzzz
      @Togzzzzzz 3 месяца назад +6

      Totally agree! At least a 7, it was the biggest wave of the heat with 4 turns (2nd turn was fire). John literally got 2 points less for only a nice looking air on a close out section… and then Bryan 2nd wave could have been a little higher like a 6.5 at least bc of the good flow and the variety of maneuvers. Def John deserves his score on his wave but he shouldn’t have make that heat imo

    • @aurelienboucher888
      @aurelienboucher888 3 месяца назад +1

      I totally agree man. 6.83 was tough it was up in the mid 7´s in my books which makes him wins this. I don’t have any issues seeing JJF get an 8.93, but Perez got a bit underscored
      WSL should let judges talk on the mic after razor close heats like this so we can really understand their scoring

    • @lorinanderson2497
      @lorinanderson2497 3 месяца назад +1

      Completely disagree, if you under surf a good wave I think the score should be even lower. If someone says ,”hey that was a good wave you caught”, doesn’t mean you surf it good.

    JJF says "it worked out." Dang that was a sick heat. Very close, nail biter, and I'm glad to have seen this heat and i feel honored because these 2 rippers poured their guts out, tearing it up, shredding. Fun times. (in el Salvador!)

  • @b.g.tercero2351
    @b.g.tercero2351 3 месяца назад +9

    Perez was robbed... was not rewarded at all for catching the biggest wave of the heat by far, and ripping it powerfully and in control. He never went for a spectacular high risk turn but he wasn't holding too much back either. That's gotta be a 7+. And John's should not have been 9+ because the wave was small. Yes he surfed it perfectly, but you could say he didn't go for a super high risk spectacular turn/air either, just those insanely perfect powerful turns. 9.0 max.
    This is not hating on JJF. He's obviously head and shoulders above Perez in surfing ability. But back in my day, wave size and wave selection counted.

    • @davidgibson6263
      @davidgibson6263 3 месяца назад +1

      Score the surfing not the wave. Bryan only did one major maneuver on his set, all the other turns were slow and pretty average. Johns wave was dynamic and had much more flow with and air rev on the end checked every box of the criteria shoulda gone 9+
