Excellent review. You're the only one out there that actually post videos of how the board rides under your feet!Great level of detail and well structured reviews. Making me wanna buy all these boards!!
Perfect Review Bro. Real consistent view point on PU vs epoxy, and especially the Carbon Wrap. I'm a huge fan and believer in the Carbon Wrap for smaller weaker waves. Pu for the juice to knife turns. Keep em coming!
I really like your surfing on the carbon wrap board. You look really comfortable on that one. You can see the extra zip compared to the PU. I think your re entries look faster and sharper. That's my view. I notice some other people prefer how you look on the PU. It's good that people like different styles of surfing and so interesting that construction of a board can change the way you surf so noticably
YES! waited so long for this review. How does the voodoo child compare to the CI black and white. Also how does the sampler compare to the weirdo ripper in terms of performance, if you have ridden a WR. Great review.
bodhi tree Good questions.... the Voodoo Child seems to have more tail rocker so it feels better in the pocket. The B&W feels faster down the line though if I am comparing the two in the PU construction. I cannot compare the Carbon Wrap to the B&W unless I had the B&W in Flexbar or EPS. The Sampler and Weirdo Ripper are two boards that I would not compare. The Sampler has very low rocker overall and is designed for small waves. The WR has a good amount of tail rocker and it will handle 6' surf no problem. I would not say the WR is a Groveler. I think all 4 boards are sick but they all have their strengths.
Surf n Show Reviews awesome thanks for clarification. I've ordered a WR and will probably get a voodoo child down the track this year as well and have the sampler as my groveler.
Surf n Show Reviews hey mate going to grab the phantom and want it to last. I live on the Gold Coast Australia and am unsure what construction to purchase it in. Which puzzle construction do you find most durable?
Hey Noel, sorry if you've already answered this somewhere, if so perhaps someone can point it out for me, but what fin's would you recommend for the PU in Futures? Thanks!
Hello Noel, how are you? Congratulations on the Voodoo Child review I have exactly this 5'8 Carbon Wrap with the same dims and I would like to know which Futures fins you would use on this board, since in your review you only used FCS 2 Thanks
Vitor Bidone Fins in Futures I like for this board are AM2’s, New Jordy’s, or for a little less rake you can go F8. For more affordable fins with Future boxes you can go Captain Fin Black Panthers (Dane Reynolds fins) or NVS surf Taylor Knox new fins.
Nice show Noel! In my point of view you were surfing better with Epoxy, maybe we still attached at PU boards due we been used them for ages ... I prefer Epoxy as I have a sci-fi but now FW is coming with Gamma which is a mix of all ... I would like to see your review about Gamma and Sci-fi
Stoked you like the show and the Carbon Wrap is very lively. I liked the EPS better too for the waves we had. I think if the waves were bigger or maybe a bit steeper then I think the PU would have out performed the EPS. I love a good PU when the waves have some size and power. I would love to review both the Sci-Fi and Gamma but FireWire is not into partnering with us yet. Maybe in the near future....
Surf n Show Reviews yup was my first video this morn..I just picked up a steve lis fish replica (5'10 34.27 liters)from one of our local surf shops here in Hawaii. "hilo surf board co." I instantly looked for "fish vids" and I came across u on the rob machado "go fish" board review. I want one asap lol. I'm 5'8 170. u think i could get away with the 5'3 go fish would still be super fun and easy to get on waves.
pirateunder40 Stoked you liked the review!!! I would love to do all of the Slater Design boards but FireWire is not down with our show yet. Maybe some day soon. Sorry
Hey Noel! I'm pretty much straight up after one of these boards, it looks sick! I just wondered, did you have any problems sticking your tail pad, what with the concave on the deck under your back foot? Do you think, it restricts what pad you can use? Thanks mate! Ez
Sick man, that's good to know! I'm lucky enough to ride lined up good sized waves most of the time so usually ride boards a little longer with more emphasis on drive and hold and just ride a quad fish when it's small. I'm really looking forward to trying a board for more pocket orientated surfing, quick turns and tight hooks on smaller/medium waves. Would you say the Voodoo Child ticks the box? I was looking at this, a Monsta box or a Sub Driver... Thanks bro!
Noel, since you have tapped into the Lost shapes, I would be curious see what you think of the Lost/Lib collabs and the Lib-tech surfboard construction...
For sure. They are still making them. They have a couple models... Lost sub driver, puddle jumper, short round, and round nose fish redux. I am thinking you would like the sub driver as it is more of a high performance shortboard. I'm just interested in them because they appear to be so durable, and weight feels similar to a pu but I haven't gotten a chance to ride one yet.
Hey, another great review. I was wondering how you think the Voodoo Child compares to the Fever, since you've reviewed both. On paper they seem to have some similarities...
Guillaume Fontaine Stoked you like the show. Both boards are similar and I think they are both epic. The VC has low entry Rocker and maybe a little more rail kick. The VC is a better paddler and can do tighter turns in the pocket. I think the Fever is faster down the line and rail to rail. I also noticed the PU Fever is a bit snappier compared to the VC PU. The EPS VC has the snap and livelyness though.
I actually just got a Baby Buggy recently, so I'll wait a little for the next one :-) You should definitely review the BB too. Awesome board, one of my all time favourites.
Valdo van Zyl Stoked you like the review! Sounds like a good board to review... just don't know when I can get my hands on one. The CI Twin Fin is legit though.... I still have mine and love surfing it when I am not reviewing boards. You will love the CI Twin Fin. Two of my friends took my advice and got one and they can't get off of them. Cheers!
Sergio De Anda That's tough. Flex n Feel I like HYFI, FlexBar, Carbon Wrap..... in no particular order. They are all very lively and feel good. I am also a big fan of the XTR Construction too. It has good flex but better durability compared to the others I have tested. It is a Extruded Polystyrene foam.
great channel , the best online ! one question , your volume for everyday boards seem to be around 26 to 27 litres, what volume would you ride as a step up say for an indo trip or even Hawaii ?
Yasser Saiyad Stoked you like the show!!! Great question in a step up for Hawaii or Indo. I would probably go from 27.5 to 28.5 depending on the size board
Love ya reviews looking for a mix between a performance and a normal short board, not really to grovel but to surf half decent waves. What would you suggest
Could you review the wavestorm please? And one of those inflatable animals? Preferably the gator or shark one, the whale one is no good unless it's head high and tubing...
Dear Mr Salas. When I bought my carbon wrap, I ended buying some fins aswell. The dude in the shop was telling me that the fcs sales rep likes the Julian fins or may have just been stiffer fins in general in epoxy boards. I know u choose your fins more flex small waves and stiffer fins bigger or more powerful waves.. so my question is could this fcs rep like stiff fins in say a carbon wrap because you already have the load up spring from the board and may not need more spring from the fins? It's kreeg
Craig Steven Yes I think that is very possible. I like a stiffer Fin on EPS boards because the board is lively already. However the Performance Core fins have a stiff base and are a Medium to stiff flex and feel compared to the Neo Glass. I would say that Neo Glass have to much flex for EPS boards. The Julian Fin would go good in the Carbon Wrap too so I guess it's just a feel and preference thing.
hey man, quick question, can u try and take the high 5 or the pod mod, put 2 large fins and make it a twinfin board for one of your next vids? i would really like to see that happens!
Hit Markers I understand but I think you testing stuff that is interesting and posting the results from you're perspective is what keeps it real. Be creative and help the rest of us out too. I would be stoked to hear how it goes when you have time to test your ideas. Cheers!!

I think maybe you should try your boards out with a Large fin and see if you like the speed and notice a big difference. If you do let me know how it goes for you. Cheers!!!
Surf n Show Reviews hi, following up here...i got a set of fsc performer L and after weeks of doldrums got to try them last week (on a 7s Double down 5'8). I noticed a lot more push out of turns and more control in the pocket. My backhand has always been more radical with turns, but with the larger fins ive noticed more oomph on my forehand! thanks for your reco!
Vaughan Heilman Stoked you like the show!!! I think you are missing out on speed.... you should be riding a Large fin on those boards. Way more Drive for sure.
The Voodoo Child has a fuller rail and more tail rocker. I think the Voodoo Child can handle a little bigger surf compared to the Monsta Box because of the extra tail rocker. Both boards are epic and I highly recommend them both,

The Fever is such a good board... glad to hear that you have that one already! The V3 Stealth is mental too. I would go with the Updated DIMS for 2017 and get the 5'6 x 18.63 x 2.25 Volume 25.5 in the Carbon Wrap.
Usually we surf a nice pointbreak that can get anywhere from about 3 to 8 foot with ease but we also surf nice running beachbreak thats about 2 to 3 foot
Anneke Schabort Fir bigger surf I like the Pyzel Ghost, 3-6’ surf I like the Holy Grail by Haydenshapes or the Lost Driver, for 1-3’ surf I like the New CI Rocket Wide.
You make the best boards reviews hands down
Thanks Wyatt!!!

Best board reviewer on RUclips hands down. Love your content and you absolutely Rip !! Keep up the great work 👍
Perfect Review Bro. Real consistent view point on PU vs epoxy, and especially the Carbon Wrap. I'm a huge fan and believer in the Carbon Wrap for smaller weaker waves. Pu for the juice to knife turns. Keep em coming!
bushkey Stoked you like the review!!! That Carbon Wrap is spiced for sure..... and love the trusty PU.
'Carbon Wrap' is a patented technology created by Dan McDonald of DMS Surfboards and now available exclusively on all Lost Surfboards Globally.
From the video I definitely like the way the PU looks as it cuts through the water more so than the Carbon Wrap.
Catch the Wave it's amazing how different both boards look. I can see that too. Cheers!
I really like your surfing on the carbon wrap board. You look really comfortable on that one. You can see the extra zip compared to the PU. I think your re entries look faster and sharper. do you prefer the phantom or the voodoo child?
Riley Channells Phantom
Surf n Show Reviews hey mate going to grab the phantom and want it to last. I live on the Gold Coast Australia and am unsure what construction to purchase it in. Which puzzle construction do you find most durable?
Riley Channells EPS with Stringer... I have not tried their Electralite
Hey Noel, sorry if you've already answered this somewhere, if so perhaps someone can point it out for me, but what fin's would you recommend for the PU in Futures? Thanks!
Nathan Walton JJF or you can do the F8 for carving and pivot. If you want more drive and closer to the KA fins then go with the new Jordy fins.
Hello Noel, how are you?
Congratulations on the Voodoo Child review

Surf n Show Reviews magic mix right?
Chelson Mattos Yes...

I'm not a shredder been surfing for a year but ,I think i got the very basics down. lol
Solid review! Looks like a good board!
Hi Noel, u should have a look at the V3 Stealth ! Sick board !
Gabriel Sales That board is up for review next.
Great as Usual,
I've Driver Carbon Wrap Over Volume 5"10 with L size Fin for Back to Learning Pop-up
Kicking Tail.Iwill follow u
I hope to see the baby buggy carbón wrap . Best surfboard review thank !!
Otilio Rodriguez That sounds good to me too
Hey Noel, sick Review as always, maybe you can do the Slater Designs "Gamma"
pirateunder40 Stoked you liked the review!!! I would love to do all of the Slater Design boards but FireWire is not down with our show yet. Maybe some day soon. Sorry
I like this board.goibg to buy him

Sneekinabout Om' No problems at all. The deck pads go on no problem and stay.

Guillaume Fontaine A few of my friends have the BB and they swear by it.
Noel, what about the Futures Rob Machado's Black Stix? Have you ever tested? Great video
Thiago Marciel Yes I have tested those and they are a bit to flexible for me. My turns were not consistent or predictable.
subscribed, you do epics reviews, cheers
Nice one Noel! Round nose fish redux next in the lost board range please! I want to compare to the CI twin - can't decide!!

Valdo van Zyl Me Either

Love ya reviews looking for a mix between a performance and a normal short board, not really to grovel but to surf half decent waves. What would you suggest
RJS I suggest the Voodoo Child, the Fever by CI, or the JS Monsta Box. All 3 boards are mental.
Surf n Show Reviews Thanks for your feedback just wondering what you think of the Chilli Nevada cheers
RJS I have never ridden a Chili before. His boards look sick though. Sorry not much help on this one.
Could you review the wavestorm please? And one of those inflatable animals? Preferably the gator or shark one, the whale one is no good unless it's head high and tubing...
Classic!! I noticed the same thing on the whale one.....
Which, stock, board is easier to surf for a older guy around so cal. For a higher liter almost high performance board. Voodoo or JS Monsta box?
Dear Mr Salas. When I bought my carbon wrap, I ended buying some fins aswell. I always forget about the Neo series. For myself I consider the performance core my softer flex because of my weight.
Craig Steven The Performance Core is my go to construction for surf 5' and under.
Could you review the Lost pocket rocket?
Jack Stark That board looks epic!!! I also want to review the Baby Buggy. Hang in there more Lost reviews to come.
I am with Jack the Pocket Rocket and BB would be great.
hey man, quick question,
can u try and take the high 5 or the pod mod, put 2 large fins and make it a twinfin board for one of your next vids?
i would really like to see that happens!
Hit Markers Sorry those board reviews are over. Maybe you could test it and let us know how it goes?
Surf n Show Reviews i thought about that, but because i just bought a new board i cant test it right now:(
maybe some day i will
Hit Markers I understand but I think you testing stuff that is interesting and posting the results from you're perspective is what keeps it real. Be creative and help the rest of us out too. I would be stoked to hear how it goes when you have time to test your ideas. Cheers!!
Hey Noel, what kind of pad would you recommend for this board? Does that double concave deck affect the size of arch or type of pad you'd chose? EZ
Sneekinabout Om' You can choose whatever pad you like. The deck concave is very subtle... no issues at all.
Sick man! Thanks!
another great review, thank you!
Sli off topic, but I'm currently riding med fins (5'10 180 42yoa...and not in as good of shape), and am surprised at the size fins for your body weight. Do you think I'm missing something by not trying larger fins? I surf in OBX, so think dumpy beach break when there's any size. Currently on a 5'6 Omni or 6'0 Rooster with FCS purple...high intermediate skill...tend to flow on forehand and get more aggressive backside. Thanks for any thoughts/advice!
Vaughan Heilman Stoked you like the review.
I think for boards with wide tails you should be riding Large fins. The bottom line for me is I want maximum speed in waves 1-5 where I surf and that's why I ride a L Fin. I only use Medium Fins when the waves 4+ and I am riding a legit performance shortboard.
I suggest you get a good set of Large Fins like the Mick Fanning's or Kolohe Andino's. You will not be disappointed.
thanks for that! Sounds like my better wave boards are fine with the M fins, but I might benefit with a L set for a groveler I have (5'6 wrv fatback...very wide tail).
Vaughan Heilman Stoked you like the show!!! I think you are missing out on speed.... you should be riding a Large fin on those boards. Way more Drive for sure.
Or possibly a review on the firewire skx?
No love from FireWire just yet with getting boards to review so this will have to wait until they want to party with us. Hopefully soon!!!
how siimilar is this board to the monsta box? I see they got almost exact the same stock dims, but the vodoo child still has more liters of volume
The Voodoo Child has a fuller rail and more tail rocker. I think the Voodoo Child can handle a little bigger surf compared to the Monsta Box because of the extra tail rocker. Both boards are epic and I highly recommend them both,
Noel I just got one of these custom at 6'4 w/ futures boxes. What futures fin do you recommend for this board?? I'm 200lbs.
Epic!!! I recommend the Channel Islands AM2's. This is the same fin that Jordy Smith rides and he is a big guy too. I also think the John John fin is good but it's a little stiffer because they have Carbon in them. I would go CI AM2's in Honey Comb..... Cheers!
+Surf n Show Reviews Radical response time! lol I hope the manufacturers know how your reviews and recommendations are driving their sales. I'll be picking those fins up. Thanks for putting out such thorough reviews, and the best on internet in my opinion!
Yewww!!! My pleasure and thanks for the props on the show! Cheers and let me know how those fins go after you test them out a bit!
When are you going to do a firewire skx review?
wozza77able No FireWire reviews at this time. They aren't to keen on our show. Hopefully one day they will be. Sorry....
Hey Noel, how would you say this compares to the monster box? :)
jasper white Both boards are sick. I would say the Voodoo Child has a bit more tail rocker so it can handle bigger surf. The Voodoo Child is more versatile and can handle surf 2-6+. The Monsta Box feels best in 2-5.
Thanks Noel! Think I will pick up a voodoo child!
jasper white Sick let me know how it goes for you! Cheers
if I were to get this board and I'm 19yrs, 5'9, weigh 150 , every day surfer, what size stock should I get? I also use a 5'9 stock ci fever everyday. Thanks!
The Fever is such a good board... glad to hear that you have that one already! The V3 Stealth is mental too. I would go with the Updated DIMS for 2017 and get the 5'6 x 18.63 x 2.25 Volume 25.5 in the Carbon Wrap.
thank you!!
What would you say is your favoroute board?
Anneke Schabort For What size and type of waves?
Usually we surf a nice pointbreak that can get anywhere from about 3 to 8 foot with ease but we also surf nice running beachbreak thats about 2 to 3 foot
Anneke Schabort Fir bigger surf I like the Pyzel Ghost, 3-6’ surf I like the Holy Grail by Haydenshapes or the Lost Driver, for 1-3’ surf I like the New CI Rocket Wide.
When is the next video due Noel? i'm frothing!
We should have a new one in a couple of days...... Stay Tuned
Sweet, keen to see what board you reviewing next!
How so you tell what size surf gloves you are
Not sure I understand your question.....
should it be tight around your wrist or is it ok if it is a little loose
Tight for sure....
