  • Welcome to The Surfboard Guide, and our review of The Psycho Killer by Matt Biolos for Lost Surfboards.
    The Lost Surfboard Psycho Killer I have been riding is a 5’10 x 19 1/2 x 2 3/8 @ 30L, and is in the Carbon Wrap EPS technology.
    I’ve been able to ride the Psycho Killer in a variety of conditions from really good solid pointbreak conditions, through to junky/summery average beachbreaks, and the board seems to perform in all conditions.
    The Psycho Killer has more width and volume under the chest which makes paddling and getting into waves quite easy, and also helps with keeping pace and making flatter sections on waves. The tail on The Psycho Killer pulls in, making it still quite maneuverable and able to perform in more critical and upright sections in good waves.
    The Psycho Killer I had also had the R-4 channels out the tail which really tightened the board up and allowed me to drop from a large to a medium fin. For this I rode the FCS 2 Mayhem/Matt Biolos thruster fin which is an upright fin. I also rode the Mayhem quad set, but with the channels this felt too tight, but I think would be good in larger surf.
    The Psycho Killer has been awesome to surf, and I’ve really enjoyed the Carbon Wrap technology that seems to give the board a little extra spice in average conditions.
    From lostsurfboards.com
    The Psycho Killer is a psychotic spin off from the ever popular Quiver Killer. Featuring all the design aspects that made the Quiver Killer one of the most popular surfboards in the world for the last few years, it’s easy to catch waves and create speed.
    It loves tubes, and at faces, and is fully capable of performing full rail carves and nimble manoeuvres when asked. This sort of wide ranging function is what makes the “Killer” Series a favourite for surfers from our top team to everyday Dazzas and Shazzas.
    Including:
    • Revamped outline, featuring a refined nose curve and double bump Swallow Tail, for more “Pop” in small surf, while retaining hold in solid waves.
    • New “Hidden Volume”, two stage deck line. Packs in the foam for paddling, drive and stability, but keeps the rails sensitive and agile for precise rail based surfing.
    • Comes standard with deep double concave through the tail rocker, or can be really souped-up with R-4 Channels out the tail.

    hello
    wondering if you could go into a little bit more detail of why you prefer uber driver to this board as a daily
    on the fence here between udxl and this board and and any info would help
    does the uber driver still paddle half decent for a shortboard?
    thanks

    Heya, great review, really helpful! I'm trying to decide which board would be best for me. I'm considering the Rocket Wide and the Psycho killer.
    I usually surf waist to head high but pretty gutless waves, but occasionally go to France and get some better ones. I'm also trying to get a bit more performance in my surfing.
    Which one would you advise out of these two?
    Thanks!

      Aage Vdvet hey! They are both very similar in regards to the type of waves they perform in. I didn’t surf the Psycho Killer without channels, but I think that would surf better in average waves than this one with channels did.

    Hi, I have a sizing question. I'm 49 years old, 5'10, 84 kg (185 lbs). I'm an intermediate surfer who gets out a couple time per week. I currently ride 5'8 Evo (35.6 liters) and want to give Psycho killer a try. What size do you recommend? Thanks.

      David I went up 1.5L on my Psycho compared to my previous board. Also went PU without channels. I weigh the same as you but slightly taller. I think ride it with your usual volume. I went up and I think that wasn't a good idea.

    How's the floating of the eps carbon wrap? Same as pu or more? Thanks

    • @TheSurfboardGuide
      @TheSurfboardGuide  3 года назад +1

      A little more float, but I wouldn't go altering your sizing to it.
      If you feel you want to make a small change and you are ordering a custom, maybe order s slightly lower rail - i.e. if you're ordering it 2 1/2, ask for a 2 7/16 rail!

      Awesome - it’s gotta be one of the best EPS techs, and Lost only replaced it as they didn’t own it and didn’t want to pay DMS for it anymore…

    Nice review. Looking for a board that would suit some more hollower clean waves here in south oz. (Caves down cactus and chinamans on the york peninsula. I'm 185cm, and 105kg with size 14 hooves. I love volume in my boards, and can't get off my 6ft epoxy puddle jumper. I just sold a 6ft6 sweet spot 2 as it felt too long. So im looking for something with volume that will hold in the tube but still surf on rail. I surfed the puddle jumper at 5ft caves and loved it apart from when I was pulling in 😂 I'm thinking PU, and a quiver killer or psycho killer with no channels. I guess a go to board when the waves are glassy n steeper 4 to 6 ft but still shorter. Any suggestions.? Maybe pyzel ghost even. The problem I have is i really notice a thin tail due to my big feet.

    • @brownhornetseventhre
      @brownhornetseventhre 5 лет назад +1

      The puddle jumper is carbon wrap epoxy. I even considered getting a puddle jumper RP for the larger hollow stuff (I love the board that much). I usually surf around 40litres. The sweet spot was 38litres. I surfed it in solid 6ft lefts at Johannas in Victoria, and disliked it. It just felt too long.

      @Matt R custom pyzel ghost gor the hollow stuff and a black box 3 swallow. Considering another Standard Puddle Jumper aswell.
