Just started getting into 1971 -72 Dodge Coronet and Plymouth Satellite 4 doors. They make awesome daily drivers. I've been looking to buy one of each model and they are hard to find in the Southwest.
I think the wise thing to do is swap that cam out just to be safe and maybe the heads too, since it might have bent valves....lol. The exhaust manifolds look suspect as well.
After you replace the chain, you may want to change the starter to a mini starter off a 90s dodge Dakota. If you do experience vapor lock, a faster starter will help you power thru it. I know it don't have the sound, but way more practical for daily driving
@glenbo2464 yeah. I plan to do a full tear down on it sometime and see what happened. Pretty sure it jumped time somehow. Someone told me some had plastic timing gears so I'll find out I guess
I'd say your timing is off and you were getting it too rich while cranking. Edit... timing chain jumped. My Dart was like that when I got it. I swapped it and drove it for years and years. Needs a 3.9 tensioner.
@johnwilburn yeah. I'm sure timing chain and push rods would get it back running. It just died at a red light at idle which is a crazy time for it to go I thought.
@wedoourownstuntz9542 man i really appreciate your offer! Your amazing for that. I've got a 360 I'm probably going to put in it. Honestly this one could be back running with a timing chain and push rods probably.

Doesn't sound right ! You can hear it has low compression ! I have never seen an engine bend all of the push rods like that before ?

I'm glad this didn't happen on your last trip to Tulsa when you had your wife & 4 children with you.

You killed a 318?..... that's not easy to do.
@johnwilburn yes. I'm not entirely sure how I did it.
I don't know how you're set on 318 parts or how far you are from Evening Shade Ar. But I have an amazing little 318 i can donate to your cause.
Also have a good set of head of you think that would fix it.
