Securing an entry in the prestigious “Buildings of England” by Nikolaus Pevsner, this handsome and imposing residence was originally built around 1880 for the entrepreneur and industrialist Edward Hughes who is said to have positioned the property such so that he could see the smoke rising from the chimneys of his carpet factories in the nearby town of Kidderminster.
Being built during the mid-Victorian period the property still displays many fine original features including rooftop finials, splayed bay windows and exquisite external joinery. Each and all have been restored to their original condition, with no expense spared.
During the second world war the property was requisitioned by the Army in
order to billet troops that manned the search light station at nearby Trimpley.
After the war, the property was returned to private ownership and the property slowly declined until our clients purchased the property and used their vision to undertake an extensive campaign of renovation and restoration to create the magnificent home that it is today.

I liked everything about this house but the sun room is to die for.

I personally love the all white interior, the UK is a rainy cloudy country.
Recently I'm more into colours but for this house, all this white design looks nice🤷🏻♀️ I don't understand others taste here😅

I imagine all that woodwork in it's original unpainted glory and I could weep.
We live in a world of barbarians who have a great animosity and malice in their hearts toward anything which is beautiful including, but not limited to finished wood work.
Ugh, painting all the woodwork white, it's a sin. The place looks like a giant white marshmallow!
A few softer heritage greens and creams always works well with the many stunning countryside views. Always more harmonious to look out at nature from a complimentary colour scheme, instead of from inside a refrigerator!
Maybe people who bought and actually lived there really want a bright light white color in their daily lives, dark woods color combined with English rainy weather can be too gloomy for some people.
At least they kept it. So many just take it out and trash it.

I was surprised at the interior. Such a bland palette and everything room, and everything, was colorless.

Someone has a phobia for colour ! It's so sterile and looks, as most homes do now, like a hotel.
I wonder what it was like before all the woodwork was painted white, and everything else was painted beige. What do these people have against colour? It's totally characterless like this.

@elephantintheroo. Not tasteless, quite a calm atmosphere created, but perhaps a little boring as no colour anywhere, making it somewhat lifeless. Tasteless is a whole different matter so I think lifeless is more appropriate description? An injection of colour with pictures, and decorative additions, would liven it up a lot and give it more appeal. However each to his own?
@@virginiahill7001 The house is divine in every way but for some paint-stripper on the staircase and archways, and a paint job on the walls. They have indeed done well, even on the kitchen and bathrooms, but for the repetitious and bland colour on the walls. Personally, I don't think colourful pictures and cushions would be enough. But it's a dream house otherwise.
