- An extremely impressive and substantial Victorian former rectory hidden away behind trees on over three acres of land sits next to the 12th century Church of Mary Magdalen in the small village of Fleet in the South Lincolnshire Fens renowned for its huge skies and spectacular sunsets. A very recent refurbishment means the - surprisingly unlisted - property is presented in excellent order and provides nine bedrooms over two floors, three with en suites, two further bathrooms, no less than six reception rooms as well as the spacious kitchen and a great number of utility rooms, including a gym, sauna and cellar on the basement level.

This is the most beautiful property I've seen on Fine and Country. Absolutely lovely.
The restraint in the interiors is a lesson to decorators for a house this size. Just perfect.
For Victorian homes, 'restraint' was not the historical approach. Victorian was usually about pattern, dark colours, themes, excess, ornamentation, woodwork often dark. This interior would be viewed as dated, colours seem more Georgian. Yes, this is the 21st Century, but it's not a lesson for decorators working on Victorian properties, it is a common look for UK.
"What's over that hedge?"
"We don't talk about that."
I love the interior design so much. So timeless and elegant
I cant stop waching it.
Love the interior
This American devoured every detail of this former rectory. Nothing was left out. #periodproperty I'd say, indeed.
Looks like something that came straight out of masterpiece theater
Wow!👍🏻
Beautiful and elegant! Love the bedrooms!
Amazing!!!!!!!!! 👍👌👏🌞❤
Elegante y señorial ...una belleza .🇪🇸👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍🌷🌷🌷💕
Beautiful home
Beautiful property. It needs an AGA in the kitchen.
perfect would purchase in a heartbeat
Just striking
I am no fan of this style of architecture but that said, I am very happy to agree with other comments praising this property. It’s been very well maintained and cared for and will make someone very happy if they are lucky enough to be able to buy it.
Superb hous
I’ve seen many of these rectories and do wonder if those former occupants, men of piety, really needed to live in such grand houses. Their parishioners no doubt lived much more basically I’m sure.
A great many people would have lived in what would have just been a larger version of contemporary homes in the area. I think.
@@andrewfulton3435 I was referring specifically to vicars.
@@elspethcoogan1499 There'd have likely only been one vicar but lots of other people too, that's what all the space is about I think
@@andrewfulton3435 I guess it boils down to privilege or status? I’m not sure, but I think (for me anyway) it highlights the distinction between the ‘haves’ and the ‘have-nots’.
I love that Mary Magdalen looks over the old rectory and the three acres.👍👍👍🌹
Very Nice 😘👍
An absolutely breathtaking property, but does it have any good schools and a town with a vibrant social life close to it?
HRH Prince Charles I'm sure would approve this property's garden and tea room conservatory in the grounds. It's an amazing place no doubt and I love the fact it's adjacent to an adorable church. Fine & Country you have fabulous taste in properties and this one is exceptional.
It was restored in 2004 to Grade 2 listing standards and the gardens were redesigned and restored by one of the previous owners who had a passion for garden design. I believe he is now undertaking a major restoration of a chateau and garden in France
Wonder if his best mate Jimmy Saville and all the other Pedos the Queen "coincidently" Knighted, would also approve?
Now that, is a bit of me
Amazing
Really nice!
So what's the price?
Nice
Maravilhosa 🥰🥰🥰
Interesting that the bell tower is not attached to the church, like an Italian campanile.
How much?
Probably would cost double if it were not located right next to a cemetary lol.
Yes, but the neighbours will be quiet.
❤
Gorgeous place. I know its just quirky me, but I couldn't live next to a cemetery. Ick.

I would in a heartbeat. It’s like living next a beautiful green-space with interesting historical relevance.
🥂👏👏
What religion is St Mary Magdelen?
Please name the country
Bing interiors eyesore.
Nice property, but I was very struck by the almost complete lack of pictures on the many bare walls. It made the house seem very bland and characterless, imo.
When you buy it you can hang all the pictures you like.
You are not wrong
You have to look beyond that and use a bit of imagination.
Beautiful but a hodge-podge of different style cornices, fretwork, and fireplaces. Some rooms are modern others mid-century, and others older. No harmony of style other than color.
Not much soul left it. Looks like model home pared down to the essentials for a real-estate tour.
whoever was the minister of that church may not have been close to God... It would be interesting to look into the people who lived in that shire over the centuries... the owners shound mention that as it would be a good selling point... just think about all the voices once there!!!
Unlisted? I would change the facade to look like a Disney storybook castle so it would look nice and spooky next to the old church. It would be so much fun. Or maybe knock down some of the walls to make floor to ceiling windows downstairs. Change the outside into stucco and the rooftops an Italian reconstruction.Maybe paint it yellow or neon green. The possibilities are endless.
Magnificent home. But, next to a cemetery? Location, location, location. 🪦⚰️👻
Quiet neighbours though.
@@elspethcoogan1499 , OН, yo a rigНt.
Лучше рядом кладбища. Чем живые соседи.
That’s a selling point for me 🤷🏻♀️😅
Its mine.
