After watching your video, I got myself a steam press. I bought the one you recommended. What a game changer. Had to change my sewing room around, but it was definitely worth it. Thanks!
I've been following you for 2years now. You have brought me from a complete novice to some skill. I practiced with basic cottons to make pencil cases, box pouches, and other small items. Currently, im on to wallets using canvas and higher quality cottons/ blends. Thank you for all you've shared and continue sharing!
This was great! I just love your humor. I really like the tips that you offered here. I think you have some really good thoughts on making things easier, but still having high quality.
So glad I found your page U are an awesome teacher, I'm hoping to learn alot from you. I'm glad u explain in detail, & actually explain what your doing instead of speed thru it . Thank you 4 that!
Oh man I HATE it when tutorial videos will just skip over stuff or fast forward. I figured viewers can click through if they want to speed things up on their own.
i saw this right on time. making many crossbags and at times the fabric is not strong enough for the strap, off to order many colors of car straps. excellent idea. thank you.
Hah sometimes custom straps are nice! But really? I don't have the time for it and if you get STRONG strapping (not the cheap nylon webbing at Joanns), it's perfectly acceptable.
@@fiercekittenz Hey, you don't have to say Polypropylene, because the seatbelt webbing you linked to is Polyester. Yay. LOL (but the stuff at Joann's IS polypropylene).
Thank you for this video. I live in Oregon and am really pleased that Strapworks is in Eugene. I worry about ordering from "back east" since a lot of companies ship USPS and take a loong time to get here. Thanks for all your videos.
It's called Ottertex Waterproof Canvas. I purchase it from FabricWholesaleDirect.com - it's basically canvas coated with a smooth layer of plastic/vinyl on the back to water proof it.
@@fiercekittenz following up on this reply despite the delay (I've only just found you) I'm in UK too and see waterproof canvas described as 600D and 300D and recently 7oz and 20z. You didn't mention different weights so that would be useful to know which you use for linings and if you use both the heavy and lighter weights in bag making for different purposes.
I buy my custom metal tags from Guangzhou Topwin Metal Accessories: gztopwin.en.alibaba.com/?spm=a2700.details.cordpanyb.1.5869b9db1nMBOU (don't forget to ask them for the washers!)
Hello - will that heat press attach the decovil to vinyl? You mentioned Lauren Mormino and I’m looking for a press to attach the interfacing to front/back fabrics as she does. I like the size of your heat press bs the square t-shirt style I have seen online.
Yes, I do use it to press decovil to my vinyl, but I count to 5 and not let the full 10 seconds go by, which is the default timing of the press. It is VERY hot and very efficient. I'd try it on a scrap first. Depending on the vinyl, it could get rid of the texturing.
No! Wow not yet anyway! I've sold a lot of bags with the waterproof canvas as the lining. The rubberized part isn't exposed at any point. I'll definitely keep my eyes peeled for that one though.
Love your videos and your sense of humor. My question is, is that webbing easy to sew on a home machine? Like sewing it onto another fabric for strap for bag making? Or bending it under to hide the end? Ty
I I am looking to purchase a stream press, what settings do you recommend for woven fuse and decovil light. Thank you so much. I have learned a lot watching your RUclips videos
I am considering buying the steamfast 680. Can you tell me if it would on a table top against a wall, which is 17” deep? Also, can it be used without steam? Thank you. :)
Hi again, I got my steam fast and I ordered some Teflon sheets but they’re kind of like almost wirey. What kind of sheet are you using and do you use it with all fabrics and interfacings? Thanks so much :)
Oh goodness that's horrible :( I know fabric prices in general outside of North America are pretty bad. Even the Europeans deal with those bonkers prices!
Really depends on the bag. If it's a bag that doesn't have a rigid body, probably just a layer of woven interfacing (shapeflex 101 or wovenfuse) - maybe even Fleece, but only if the bag is big.
I love your videos I really have to give twitch a try!! I started sewing last year and really hate interfacing. I just bought a steam press but I was wondering what is the sheet you are using on top of the fabric when you interface and where you got it
Also yes! Twitch is awesome! I'm partnered there, which is why I can't do the live streams here on RUclips. I'm trying to use RUclips to curate tutorials and quick videos on things I commonly find myself repeating in live streams.
You are the bag guru! Your geeky sense of humor is so much like mine we could be related. I could be your great looking younger aunt!

Amazing. I don't mind cutting but interfacing tis the worst. Love your tips, thanks!
Thank you!😊
very informative and to the point--thanks for the links
so in case I havent: I REALLY love your videos
Excellent video! Thank you!!!
New subscriber here. Thank you for such great videos! And I love your personality!
What’s your go to size webbing ?
Always 1" wide at the least. I keep 1/2" in stock only for super small items or to quickly whip up a hanger loop for a backpack, but that's it.
I'm in the UK can you give me more info on the waterproofed canvas you use, ie., cotton, weight etc, thank you

Is this good for HTV to make t-shirt
Where do you get your cotton webbing?
Strapworks!
I have a question and I hope you can help. Where do I get my logo labels? So many to choose from.

@@fiercekittenz thanks 🙏🏾. I love the videos
Where do you get your leather like backed vinyl?
It's called "Whisper" vinyl and I get it from Joanns. It comes in black, brown, and a bone (off white) color.
Can you do a tutorial on binding seams of an unlined vinyl tote bag? That would be great.
Sure!
@@fiercekittenz
Thank you. Looking forward to it.
Any suggestions for inexpensive webbing with patterns or stripes? The ready-made straps are sometimes more expensive than the handbag fabric.
Take a look at Strapworks.com and see if they have any? I use Strapworks nylon webbing. It's very heavy-duty, almost seatbelt quality.

Awesome info! Where did you get the cotton webbing? The link you provided only lists nylon and poly. Thanks!
I actually get the COTTON webbing from Country Brook Design.
@@fiercekittenz Thank you!

For those two (at least on the one I use - Steamfast), I use the cotton setting. I go down to wool settings for fleece.

It should fit! And yes, just don't fill the reservoir with water.

Ottertex waterproof canvas is $32m in Australia, I’m so jealous of the prices you pay for your supplies.
Oh goodness that's horrible :( I know fabric prices in general outside of North America are pretty bad. Even the Europeans deal with those bonkers prices!
What type of fabric would you recommend to interface jean material? I want my bag to feel structured for shape but not too hard.
