We can still see it, William Wallace is portrayed as gay transgender african woman, defeating longshanks, sleeping with french bride, then giving a 45 minute speech of liberal infused anti raycism and muhsogeenie.

The film may have its merits dramatically but does now show due respect to Scottish history and spreads misinformation. It would have been better to have fictionalised this tale by changing characters' names and place names in tge manner of Game of Thrones.

@@freddieclark You would have to be an idiot to go learn history from movies anyways. It's obvious that there are political undertones in this criticism of Gibson's movies, because I have never heard that said about any of the other hundreds of movies loseley based on historic events like gladiator. Also, the whole spirit behind the historic process of the time is well represented even if it is heavily adjusted to make a good movie, it is just a mashing of the events between William and Robert de Bruce's time.

@@orgullosamenteperonista You must have been hiding under a rock if you have never heard it said about hundreds of other movies. There are literally websites that track the number of historical mistakes in movies and Gibson regularly gets the gold medal. I am well aware that a 'movie' is just that, for entertainment purposes. But when the level of inaccuracy becomes almost comical (as in the premise that Princess Isabelle of France bore him a child, or the fact that there actually was a bridge at the battle of Stirling bridge) then for anyone with an even rudimentary knowledge of the historical events the film loses much of its appeal.

so many people insult this movie because of inaccurate history but mel Gibson never claimed it was supposed to be educational or real. it's a movie and one of the best I have ever seen. even the fight between two armies is not realistic but damn good entertainment

I'm not even Scottish! But this film resonates DEEPLY across the world! Particularly in light of those who suffered the British... And other European Imperial and Colonial Powers!
Just a shame that the Scotts were complicit in this outrage too! But then, as this film portrayed, they weren't exactly a unified people either!!!

Alba Gu Bra... “Scotland the Brave!”
I’ve been to Scotland and stood and prayed; not a prayer of sorrow, but a prayer of thanksgiving. I prayed that my Heavenly Father would let the men who fell in that first battle and at Fallkirk know that the United States of America appreciates the sacrifice they made. Because America became the second “Land of the Free and Home of the Brave!”
I got to kiss the ground of Fallkirk and look up at the 18’ tall statue of the 17th Robert the Bruce and thank him for catching the spark of freedom and making it a bon fire!

Про Шотландию понимаю, но Америка нет, т.к. она уничтожила хозяев и поселилась на их земли и до сих пор в ней живет. И все кто с ними, я считаю убийцами мородёрами...

    Must see movies for everyone:
    1. Ben Hur (Christian message)
    2. The Shawshank Redemption (Christian message - specifically hope)
    3. Groundhog Day (Philosophy, also referred to by many religious groups to convey their message)
    4. Braveheart (value of freedom, leadership and bravery)
Feel free to add to the list
I think it goes without saying that when speaking of Ben Hur I refer to the original. I haven't even watched the remake.

Did Wallace and Princess Isabelle consummate their attraction to one another? Regardless, this is one of my favorite films. Is there violence? You can't make a film about war without it, but unlike some films it is not gratuitous. Casting was superb. I'm a big fan of Brendan Gleeson because of this film. Loved Patrick McGoohan from way back, and he did not disappoint as Longshanks. James Horner's score is one of my favorites. I could listen to the bagpipes in the score all day. It's stunning music. This is the first film with Brian Cox and James Cosmo which I've seen.
