Hi Friends! I have been asked how I cut my curly bangs many times, and I knew I was in need of a trim so I decided I would film the easy process. Please keep in mind that you must consider your shrinkage when cutting bangs, I personally do not get too much shrinkage because my curls are looser at the top of my head. If you get more shrinkage, I would suggest cutting the curls how they fall naturally rather than pulling them to elongate them when you trim ( otherwise the shrinkage will be way more than you expected! )

Life is beautiful my hair is curly without product too but without product it looks like I rubbed a balloon on my head or stuck my finger in an electrical socket🤣 my hair is curly regardless but it looks better with product so I always put product in my hair

FINALLY, I've found someone with hair exactly like mine! It's been challenging. I've only started embracing my curls the passed couple of years. I've straightened it most of my life. However, because of medical issues, my hair started falling out. I rocked a baldy for awhile but missed my hair. I had to stop everything: blowing, coloring, etc. I decided to let the curls loose to get that full look I like. The curly-coaster ride hasn't been too bad, except for finding products that enhance my lioness mane. The one thing that's helped is keeping a healthy hair care regime, which has allowed my hair to grow strong. I've since been able to color it again, YIPPIE!!! I only straighten it on occasion, which I don't like as much anymore (Go figure). I LOVE MY CURLS!!! It's just taking forever to grow longer. My curls are so tight. It looks like I only have an inch of hair. I haven't found anything yet to stretch out my passed shoulder length hair. I'm so grateful I found you. I know I'm going to get so much more out of my curlilocks now. Ty. Big hugs!!! I'm go to try this layering method to get more volume.

MakeUPbyKiani thank you! And yayyy to embracing your curls, summer is a great time to start :) especially if you rock wash & go styles it will be easy to embrace your curls in the warmer temperatures! Try and air dry if you can, its great for restoring your curls if you have any heat damage

I used your method to cut my bangs and side hair today and they FINALLY came out looking nice. No more patchy or mullet hair. I was aimlessly cutting random pieces of hair at the top, back, sides, bottom, almost daily, just trying to fix the mess I created months ago. My hair wasn't getting longer because I was always chopping at it. Now I'm ready to let it grow out, soooo happy.

So, I just recently decided to have my hair cut to resemble more of a curly fro and I also wanted bangs. Very similar to your hair. However, I wasn't happy with the bangs because they looked so thin and fell flat. Thanks for this video because I am going to go back to the salon and see if she can layer my bangs for more volume and density. This video was right on time. Love your hair as always!
Great vid! I have similar hair and since ive been growing it out the curls have been stretching out even more (because of the weight) which has left me with the dilema of being a flat-top! Ppl are charging crazy prices for haircuts also so diy is def the way to go. Thank you!

i just did the bang cut last night and it came out pretty good. My hair is even more dense than yours and very very thin/fine. So i really didn't have to cut much at all. Still a bit see through but much better. Thanks!!!

Okay so I'm waaaay late to this video, but I just wanted to say that I LOVE it! I have struggled to find a video that gives a good explanation of hydrating and cutting curly hair and bangs. This helped me so much. My hair looks very similar to your before. My hair doesn't curl as tight, but it is a similar texture. Love the idea of the layered bangs for volume. I tried this at home and it worked perfect! Can't wait to try the curls products!

That's a great video! thanks so much for sharing your tips on how to cut a bang. Your hair type is very close to mine so I appreciate when you share your tips on how to manage hair. I have fried my hair when I dyed it blond last spring. It has been almost a year and although I love love love my blond ends, I am not going to do anything to my hair and try to let it grow this year. Just trim it once or twice maybe but that's it. I would love to have my hair touch my shoulders and still have nice defined curls. So I'm going to work on that.

I've switched to all natural products, started using jbco on the top of my head where its the thinnest. I'm not sure if my hair is thicker but it does feel stronger and softer. I'm still using acv for the eczema flares which don't happen very often since I'm now using all natural products. Thank you for sharing your tips. Always enjoy your videos.

from the looks of it we might have pretty similar hair. so once my hair grows out again I might really have to try this. I don't know if my hair is quite as thick but laying down and brushed out my hair is almost identical to yours... yeahh yours might be thicker than mine but similar curl so I can at the least work with your process

I'm so desperate, I have the same curl pattern as you (maybe just a little bit curlier at the ends, but kinda wavy (? in the roots, exactly like yours), I also have fine and low density hair (but just a little more density than you), and STILL can't get the volume you get. I saw all your videos on the matter, follow the tips and I just can't get volume. And I looooovee volume.. I don't know what else can do, really. (Sorry for my english)
Stephanie Celis well one thing to keep in mind is that you're seeing short videos and pics so it can be hard to compare...my hair has lots of volume when I use an Afro pic and shake it out etc. but it will fall flat throughout the day if I don't fluff it throughout the day...is your hair layered? That makes a big difference too! Try and put your head upside down when you shake the roots as well !
Thanks for responding :). Yes, my hair is layered, but the layers are longer. Maybe, that's the problem? or maybe i should get more layers? I cut my own hair because in my country no one knows how to cut curly hair, and i don't trust anyone but me with my hair lol.
Stephanie Celis I would think that's a major part of your problem! :0 My hair falls super flat too if I don't cut layers into it. The rest of the hair weighs it down, so be careful if your hair grows quickly.

Stephanie Celis Good. 😊🌸 I personally cut some layers about two months ago, and have seen some big improvements in my volume. Just cutting the layers at the top is what does it for me, but if yours is low density, it would probably look really pretty if you did them all throughout. 💕
