Really liked the way you conducted the shave-off trial. I also used 2 Henson Mild razors from the same batch. The reason I know they were from the same batch is because the coding on the top cap is the same which also means the parts are interchangeable (per Jonathan Bosman at Henson Shaving.) Thanks so much for this demonstration!!!
Beth, you and viewer Marc Bagwell inspired me to finally do the review. I was glad I had two identical razors. Very happy to hear you enjoyed the video and thanks for the motivation.:)
Very interesting. Hopefully more sellers will stock these in the future.
We will stock in the next week
@@markben2959 store name?
@@markben2959 What's the name of your store?
Good review Mark. I am almost out of my Polsilver blades, and am having trouble finding any. I guess I am going to give the Wizamet's a try. I guess I don't have much choice. It's hard though, after using the same product for such a long time. I switched to a safety razor after using the old Gillette Trac II about 10 years ago. Found the PolSilver on the Badger and Blade website. Great blade. Oh well.
Damn. I only have 4 pol silvers left. Had I known it was discontinued I would have stockpiled a bunch of them. Just ordered some wizamets, We'll find out if they're just as good.
So, are they the same?
My understanding is they are the same blade but different packaging.
The story I found in my research is they are same blades and they were sold to different markets and the company dropped polsilver name and packaging and went with the wizamet name.
my go to has been Perma-Sharp and Wizamet Super Iridium. I recently got some Polsilver Super Iridium blades and found that for three shaves all three are the same on my face. but I can't go past 3 with Wizamet nor Perma-Sharp-4th shave lots of irritation. I went 6 with the Polsilver and chickened out going past. went back to the Wizamet and 4th shave was irritating. I am going to bounce back between the 3 to see if it was soap related. (I used different soaps a lot). FWIW all three come out of the P&G St Petersburg factory. Wizamet's website says Polsilver was their brand
Great idea to compare those two 🎉there is always subjectivity when doing these comparison, we are humans after all, I get great shaves with both the Wizamet and the Polsilver and agree with the conclusion of the video 😊
Great blade comparison!. Another RUclips shaver received a vintage case of Polsilver blades and they had the "Wizamet" brand printed on the case. Very nice background guitar music during the lather! Would appreciate the name and artist of the music piece. I am not sure if it is of interest to you but RUclips cuts your video to introduce adds exactly during the splash graphics.
Hi, Super Nova. The music is From RUclips's free music library. It's called "Almost August" by Dan Lebowitz. As far as the ads are concerned, I'll check my settings. I think there's a way to control when they appear.
@@MarkSzorady thanks for your reply! I was very curious that every time the splash graphics appear they are interrupted by an advertisement. I have no idea how RUclips works. Those Wizamet blades although pricey, seem a great and affordable option for those who are looking for polsilver blades. have a great week!
Hmm... With that name, I need to buy that Edwin Jagger razor! 😎
Kelvin, yes!:) :):):)
Anyhow, I bought this second Kelvin razor last year on Prime Day. With the lightning deal, and a Whole Foods credit I had for Prime Day, I saved over ten bucks. So, instead of it being $$27.19 (at the time), it came in at about $16.00...add in tax, $17.17.:) the price of the Kelvin razor is currently (as of this writing) $26.85. Will it go on sale on Prime Day again? Not sure. But, if you're a Prime member, you may want to wait and see.
Hi Mark- Great shave and razor blade comparison; thank you! I agree with your assessment of these two blades. For me, they just seem completely interchangeable. I hope your week is going nicely. Take good care and be safe and be well. Best regards, as always, Mark!
Mike, thanks so much and I apologize for the late reply.
Thanks so very much Mark for this much awaited Video. Thoroughly enjoyed and it really helped clarifying that both the blades are actually the same....
Your videos are always informative. Keep up the great work...
Rahul, thanks vey much and my apologies for the late reply.
If you do another Blade Review try a Gillette 365. Used one last night one of the Best Gillette Blades I've used. Awesome video can't wait for the next one😀
I need to try the wizamet... the thing about the polsilver was that it had the best of both worlds. Quality and longevity. I could get 6 comfortable (Neck, Cheek, and Head) shaves with Polsilver when I normally get 2-3 with all the other razors before I disposed of them. Wizamet is TBD. I should add I use a parker 65r. so mid aggression.
Same for me but the I’m getting the same shaves from the Wiz
@@marcbagwell6109 Will definitly order some this week.
Is that a full head shave you're talking about or just the top part?
@@marcbagwell6109 thank you so much for confirming!:)
@@ThaRedPitbull Me? I do a full head shave (ever since I reached 3,000 subscribers).:)
Awesome review! Well done!
Many thaks, Marc.:) Appreciate the kind words and the inspiration and motivation.:)
Wizamet's are still my favorites. A shaving friend of mine loves the Polsilvers, but cannot use the Wizamet blades, so I'm not convinced they are made exactly the same way, so YMMV still applies I feel. 😜
Thanks, UncleL Shaves.:) For me, they are very, very similar. But, yes, I'd say YMMV applies.
Thanks, which different between adwin jagger de89 and Muhle 89r
The razor heads between the two are fairly similar. However, some prefer the Muhle R89, others the DE89. It's a YMMV sort of thing. I have the Baxter of California razor which is a re-branded Muhle R89. Based on my experience with the Baxter, I'd say it's a bit smoother than the DE89. Again, YMMV.
Wizamet from Poland of course.
Now don't quote me, but from what I understand. Polsilver was a Polish Brand, bought by Proctor and Gamble (They own Gillete), who then moved the operation to St. Petersberg Russia and rebranded them to Wizamet.
@@JuystaFan This seems to be what we are learning although I cannot confirm.
Wizamet was polish brand. More info here (just use translator) pl.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wizamet
I think you over do the light touch thing. A little pressure will give you a closer shave.
As a general rule of thumb, especially for beginners, lighter is better. I'll allow that it's a YMMV thing. I find a light touch works. On some razors that are more lightweight, I agree that a little pressure may be necessary...not always, though. Again, YMMV. Everyone is different.
I tend to use a FUTUR 700 on the highest setting with feather blades. I use moderate pressure. The razor/blade combo is so aggressive that I'm able to do a double pass dry shave, both passes against the grain.
Also, Mark, I have a question: What is the difference between the Edwin Jagger DE89 Kelvin razor and, say an Edwin Jagger DE89 purchased thru West Coast Shaving? I've always been curious about what exactly is the difference. Thanks so much one again for the comparison!!
Beth, same razor heads, different length handles. While the DE89 is a terrific razor, I sometimes think, for me, the shorter handle gives me just a bit more efficient shave. YMMV.:)
Only difference is the handle. All DE89 razors ha e the exact same head
Ciao Mark,Polsilver è Super iridium sono lamette eccezionali! Future Fiction di Phoenix è un sapone fantastico.🤗
Massimo, Polsilvers are great blades. Unfortunately, They just aren't available at reasonable prices anymore. I love Future Fiction!:)
@@ararmino Yes.:) Thanks for the offer.:) Email me at georgetoon@gmail.com and I can give you my address, etc.:) I'd be interested in seeing and trying these.:)
Great video Mark !
Thanks, Dino.:)
Mark thanks for doing the comparison. I recently order Wizamet due to shortages in polsilvers. I’ve only used the feather safety razor plastic entry level. Do you have any other brand you recommend? The updgrade on feather stainless steel is 179 usd.
There are omnay blades available. I like the Astra, the PAA Platinum Stragelet, Derby blades are good, Lord platinum, Gillette Platinum, Dorco titan, Dorco Prime, so many more.
@@MarkSzorady thanks Mark for the recommendations! What about a brand of safety razor? I was thinking on upgrading to a feather AS-D2 stainless steel but they run a little price. I have sensitive skin and don't grow a lot of facial hair but I do shave everyday. I heard the feather is very mild in comparison to other brands. I never experienced other safety razor brands
@@benjamingarciao4734 Lots of choices. If you want oto stay in the 20 to 30 dollar range. then Edwin Jagger, Vikings Blade and Parker all make nice razors. Edwin Jaggers are smooth and mild. Vikings blade are a it more efficient. Parker are a bit more efficient than Edwin Jagger too. What about a single edge razor? Have you given any consideration to the Supply SE? Very smooth and comfortable. PAA also makes some nice razors. The Ascencion Select is a favorite Andi s twist adjustable so you can make things a bit more aggressive if needed. Then there are the Vikings Blade adjustables which are awesome and less then 50 dollars for some models.
@@MarkSzorady thanks so much mark I will look into those!
Nice comparison video, Mark. I'm sure it will help people who are wondering the same thing. In your opinion, are the Wizamets sharper than Nacet blades to you or about the same?
Thanks, ThaRedPitbull-Mix.:) I've got some Gillette Nacets sitting in my blades bowl while I'm doing this video and I keep telling myself I've got to pull one out again and shave with it. It's been a while since I've used one. I recall them being sharp with some very nice blade feel. Probably, if memory serves, more blade feel then the Wizamets.
@@MarkSzorady Thanks for the response. I just wanted to get an idea if I'd like them or not. I've found that the sharper more aggressive blades give me a better shave.
We will stock in the next week, stay alert.
Cool video
Thanks, David.:)
