On your own time, I would definitly recommend listening to the studio version David, and see how you feel about that. It's still nearly 8 minutes and the main riff is repetitive. But I think the accent work sounds cleaner, vocals sound better and the whale noises in the progressive intro are more prominent. For me though this song is all about the drum and bass performance, and the overall groove.
not their best live version imo ( a little messy at times ) , I'm sure you'd score the studio version much higher !!!
You have to listen to Art of Dying. It’s a really cool track and I think you’ll enjoy it.
Hey Dave Yeah that's a fair score This wasn't their best performance for a few reasons Sound was one the vocals were too low but at least they included the opening mellow section Mario Duplantier is an amazing drummer and when I got into Gojira he opened my mind with his use of cymbals as fills or tasty accents so good call on that Christain (the other guitarist) and Jean-Micheal the bassist are the hidden weapons Imo and don't get the love they deserve but Mario is the focal point a lot of times I'm seeing them for the 10th time in September in Massachusetts plus I just saw them about 9-10 months ago with Mastodon and Lorna Shore in Portland Maine Btw the visuals change thru out the set I've seen this show 5 times 😎✌️🤘🧐
my favourite band i've ever seen live...that included the likes of black sabbath and rush.
probably got some serious CTE during the pits, came out and got a signed booklet and i don't even remember doing so. massive.
this and the entire album are 10/10 for me and many others, especially after seeing them live. Btw the original song is 7:44 in length

thank you David ,so happy that you finally go back to Gojira :) the long intro is on the album ..wich give a certain mood , they used to cut it live for the same reson you mention ( too long ) but the brought it back because the song became so popular ,that people expect it .but yeah definitely go down the gokira rabitt hole , so many songs you will like or at least be interesting to analyse.
So excited to see Gojira on here. One of my favorite bands they are are incredible live. So heavy. Sad that it didn't click much for ya, as this is one of their best songs imo. But hey, we all have different tastes. :). Thanks for the video David!

I agree with your wall of death score. I gave it less. lol It was a bunch of guys skipping towards each other like they were skipping aroung the May Pole. lmao Still, Gojira's most fun song at a live show tune.
Definitely not the best version of that. End of the set, and from an interview with Joe( the singer) be really doesn't like playing that song anymore.
And being honest. The first time I heard that song I was like meh. But a few listens later it's one of my favorites of theirs
One of the worst versions you could have listened to.
That was dull, way too repetitive and nothing stood out.
