What's funny about Cliff is that he is such a good bass player he probably was asked by a lot of bands to be their bassist. What are the odds he said yes to Metallica
Cliff Burton, a genius with a great and very energetic passion for outstandingly heavy music playing! His style will always correspond to Metal excellence! Missed by countless fans (R.I.P.).
believe me Or not my dad was in this band (name Marlon Smith) And He Knew Cliff very Well Which Is amazing So Much he Also Designed The Logo For trauma
Even though this was recorded on the Potato GTX 1982 Edition, this is still the greatest metal video I’ve ever seen and heard. God bless you and Rest In Peace, Cliff.
for anyone who sees this, if you dig through the comments you'll see a comment i posted on another account about the guitar player with the gold V claiming it was my dad, this is true, and about a year ago i posted an unreleased demo tape on this current channel of a song cliff and my dad played together just messing around in the early days before trauma was even conceptualized. It's called "Never Listen, Never Learn" it's pretty raw since it was just a jam session really but it's still pretty badass
@@SamuelSkelton117 seems a little undeserved to be honest, my dad and everybody else were very solid players but when you put any guitar player next to cliff they don't even hold a candle. The recording also wasn't the greatest which definitely fucks with the sound. Regardless i can't change peoples opinions so in the end it is what it is
How does one convince someone else to join their band? Like I know Ron McGovney was the original bassist for Metallica but still. How'd they get Cliff to come along? Did Dave play a bit of guitar for him? lol
William Nuno You convince him the music you make is 100x better than the band he's in. And Metallica had more drive and hunger to succeed than Trauma did I'm sure. Definitely had more talent.
1 of the best older under ground bands there was. 2 great action beats to get the solos heart pumping in the mind performing arts.3 Bass was what sets a band with druming procussing part in cortex in cross over.
There’s a video where James talks about how Cliff was so into the song he would just stand there headbanging and when his head came up his eyes rolled into the back of his head
I'm going to be 100% honest, the beginning of that riff sounds like it was the start of "The Boys are Back in Town" by Thin Lizzie. Might just be the tone, but Cliff still rocked it!
He was the shit!...fucking awesome!!...I still wonder today how much more he would have accomplished!...you fucking jam cliff, to this day, I still headbanging to your solo...it will live forever...cliff lives on....fucking bass up in the clouds!!...\,,/...\,,/
I can tell by listening to him whether it's in this band or Metallica that is biggest influence is were John wetton from King Crimson and Chris Squire from yes and of course Lemmy from Motorhead
Maybe for us folks in 2021, this isn't as crazy as some of the stuff we can now see on RUclips, but in 1982? Yeah, this was otherworldly. PARTICULARLY for 2 young kids named James and Lars, who barely knew how to make music (at that time) and were basically total amateurs. Seeing something like this performed live by a bassist back then probably was like seeing the Second Coming of Christ for them. Also, no offense to Trauma's guitarists (especially if they happen to randomly find this video and read my comment), but they were horrible here. Cliff was WAY better.
What's funny about Cliff is that he is such a good bass player he probably was asked by a lot of bands to be their bassist. What are the odds he said yes to Metallica
And aren´t we all glad that he did :) R.I.P
He'd still be alive if he said no

Exacly
This is on spotify for those who didn't know, It's called We're Going Off by Trauma, of course. The bass solo starts at 2:09 :)
Thanks man

He wouldn't do it but if there was youtube back in 1982 Cliff would be a star if he played his bass on his channel.

Maybe he was bored of his band members, you can be in a pretty good band, but if your bandmembers are shit, it doesnt matter.
This may be before or after Ron McGovney left Metallica
Vinnie Rotea Alt Channel it was after, they caught trauma at the Filmore in LA, Lars and James met cliff backstage
Francisco Berríos he said he wanted more say in his band and he didn't want to leave but he felt like he was forced
