Apple makes a mistake by reducing the battery capacity. why degrade the battery while improving your processor? On 12 pro it should have been 3500-4000 mAh.
Because they wanted to make the phone a little smaller and the 5G antennae take up a lot of space inside the phone. Honestly they should’ve just made it a little thicker

It's just that in a world that does only care about specs that are speed-related saying how big the battery is is generally not a smart idea, because you want to present your product as the best, fastest and funnier one. That's why they usually talk a lot about the chip's speed and photography but not about battery and their competition (and when they do they call them just "competition" or name their colour).
@@amaljoe367 but that's not actual real life usage. Battery life for daily use in 4G and WiFi may well similar to the 11s, maybe a Bit worse but not that much. That's because the A14 ist faster with the same max power draw and the processor gets earlier in a low power state.
You heard 5G prices, the antennas cost around £100 to place in, I’d rather have a 12 pro than an Android that compromises on performance to get 5G(Google Pixel 5 for example).

I do believe it is their method to decrease the *massive* environmental footprint the production of batteries creates. The making of these Lithium-Ion batteries requires sulphuric acid, the production of which is not very... *clean.* So-the smaller the battery, the less sulphuric acid is needed. I know the margin of change is minimal, but to be able to still retain this great battery performance of six hours, with a more powerful chipset and *less* battery, is a very futuristic approach!
my XR has 91% battery health and it’s currently almost 2AM, phones is at 36% after 5 and a half hours of screen time. for normal use i think that the phones battery life is way more than adequate

Personally battery life is probably the most important feature. The camera upgrades are hardly noticeable unless you have the pictures right next to each other and you zoom in, the processor speed upgrades are not noticeable at all unless you are doing video editing on your phone (I never have done that and never have met someone that does that) But I will notice 30 more minutes screen on time.
You literally hit apples brand right on the head exactly why I switched away from iphone not worth it I can't tell the difference in speed between each model
Chips are not a limiting factor anymore. Camera and battery are the most important to me and I couldn’t be happier with it on the pro max. Ending the day with 40-50% on heavy usage.
i would disagree i get a new phone every year and defiantly can notice a different in pictures and speed , apps load faster face id unlocks faster you might have to wait a month to fully see benefits threw app updates tho

Thank you for the great test! What’s interesting to me is that the iPhone 12 (which will be the best selling one) is still at 30% when the 11 despite having a higher resolution display and a about 300mah less battery capacity. That’s a huge real world improvement thanks to the OLED display and A14! It sticks that the 12 pro is behind the 11 Pro but I guess it makes sense having a larger higher Rez display and smaller battery. Now let’s see how much 5G effects it in the real world!
And the 12 is at 44% when the XR dies. I remember the XR being the battery king compared to the XS and XS Max and some people would buy it for its battery. So good to see nice jumps over the last few years and I think a lot of owners of older iPhones will be very happy with the 12.
Actually this test is benefitting the OLED phones because of high set brightness but low white level. Simulate some web browsing and the OLEDs will die much sooner. Also the camera test with nearly black screen is nowwhere near realistic.
No wonder they didn’t mention battery at the Apple event. This is a HUGE letdown..... this will be a big concern for 12 16-24 months from now.... what a let down Apple
To quote a "classic" : "What? You guys don't have power banks?" xDDDDDD I still have my vet. Iphone 5s, it looks and works almost like a new (since I used it and charged it properly and used it only to call, sms or listening to music). I wanted to upgrade it for I8 or X, but removal of minijack was a let down for me. Since I have bought (thanks to my friend) really good earbuds with lightening I thought that I'll be able to switch my I5 to SE2020 but I have seen how weak battery it has and I don't like it design either. And so I have waited for I12, especially after I head that there will be MINI version, almost in size of old 5s, SE.... but the prize itself and battery power are let down to me. I don't even know if I should upgrade my 5s. I don't use the internet that much. I use phone only to call people and listen to music and my 5s is.. welp is still nice :P
I have an iPhone X and have been patiently waiting. To me this is a serious concern... there are points in the test where the iPhone 11 Pro has DOUBLE the battery % than the brand new iphone12?! It’s well known these batteries have a loss in performance over time. To me the battery is critical. What a HUGE let down and disappointment. My iPhone X will make it to about 11am from full charge when I’m working and my old AirPods last about 30-45 mins..... absolutely horrible battery performance on two items that are only 2 yrs old COME ON APPLE

That's why Apple didn't talk about battery life in their keynote. It's not better in comparison to last generation so how will they even make it convincing?
Moreso its the fact people don't understand the a14 consumes less power, same with their new displays, and software/systems that utilize and push power WHEN you need it. They also did say they wanted slimmer devices, hard to accomplish without minimizing battery after adding 5g components.

Probably because 5G is a battery hog and overall leaves limited space into the 6.1" Form factor to actually beat the 11 Pro battery life.
Personally battery life is probably the most important feature. The camera upgrades are hardly noticeable unless you have the pictures right next to each other and you zoom in, the processor speed upgrades are not noticeable at all unless you are doing video editing on your phone (I never have done that and never have met someone that does that)
But I will notice 30 more minutes screen on time.

Chips are not a limiting factor anymore. Camera and battery are the most important to me and I couldn’t be happier with it on the pro max. Ending the day with 40-50% on heavy usage.
i would disagree i get a new phone every year and defiantly can notice a different in pictures and speed , apps load faster face id unlocks faster you might have to wait a month to fully see benefits threw app updates tho

Thank you for the great test! What’s interesting to me is that the iPhone 12 (which will be the best selling one) is still at 30% when the 11 despite having a higher resolution display and a about 300mah less battery capacity. That’s a huge real world improvement thanks to the OLED display and A14! It sticks that the 12 pro is behind the 11 Pro but I guess it makes sense having a larger higher Rez display and smaller battery. Now let’s see how much 5G effects it in the real world!
And the 12 is at 44% when the XR dies. I remember the XR being the battery king compared to the XS and XS Max and some people would buy it for its battery. So good to see nice jumps over the last few years and I think a lot of owners of older iPhones will be very happy with the 12.
Actually this test is benefitting the OLED phones because of high set brightness but low white level. Simulate some web browsing and the OLEDs will die much sooner. Also the camera test with nearly black screen is nowwhere near realistic.

Iphone 5s, it looks and works almost like a new (since I used it and charged it properly and used it only to call, sms or listening to music). I wanted to upgrade it for I8 or X, but removal of minijack was a let down for me. Since I have bought (thanks to my friend) really good earbuds with lightening I thought that I'll be able to switch my I5 to SE2020 but I have seen how weak battery it has and I don't like it design either. And so I have waited for I12, especially after I head that there will be MINI version, almost in size of old 5s, SE.... but the prize itself and battery power are let down to me. I don't even know if I should upgrade my 5s. I don't use the internet that much. I use phone only to call people and listen to music and my 5s is.. welp is still nice :P

I have an iPhone X and have been patiently waiting. To me this is a serious concern... there are points in the test where the iPhone 11 Pro has DOUBLE the battery % than the brand new iphone12?! It’s well known these batteries have a loss in performance over time. To me the battery is critical. What a HUGE let down and disappointment. My iPhone X will make it to about 11am from full charge when I’m working and my old AirPods last about 30-45 mins..... absolutely horrible battery performance on two items that are only 2 yrs old COME ON APPLE
