I love Alvin's joy of food! The little things, like his story about falling asleep to the sound of chicken frying and telling us who he shared the food with (and who took the leftovers home), really adds to the cozy feeling of these videos! ❤️
Alvin getting another series in the BCU! I'm looking forward to seeing various cuisines from Asia. Also, as an avid watcher of Yummyboy, it's very nice to see you recognize their work.
I appreciate meeting half way with including ASMR at the very beginning instead of including it throughout the entire video. I wasn’t sure what the results were going to be when it was asked in a previous video if all the videos should be done in that style. Thank you.
glucose syrup would be zero-fructose corn syrup. you add the fructose back to it to get simple sugar syrup. but they all have the same caloric value, just slightly different flavor profiles depending on the ratio ; D
Honestly, waking up to this had my brain a buzz of dishes id love to see made by such experts. Under anime i cant help but remember Soma Yukihara's Chicken Egg Tempura Don, from video games the 4 types of curry you can have made in Final Fantasy 14 Endwalker, for TV shows the the Tacho from Kim Possible, and for streetfood i can only think of one and thats a mexican beef tongue taco. I hope this stirs as many ideas for you as it did me.

Alvin please carry on with your own channel. Your recipes are amazing and you deserve all the credit. You LITERALLY carry this channel. Please carry on with your own channel.
This was lovely and looked delicious! Excellent presentation! Regarding the oil used: I don’t know if this is strictly a BB.Q Chicken thing or a Korean fried chicken thing in general, but one of the things BB.Q Chicken does differently is that they fry their chicken in light olive oil, rather than neutral vegetable oil.
I've always wanted to see what the Onion and Banana Juice from ATLA looked like. I guess Garlic and Banana Puree is the closest I'll get...for now. It looked pretty similar ngl
Petition for an ASMR with Alvin series. No commentary. No music. No intentional scritchy scratchy sounds. Just natural cooking ambience. Low-key just his own channel's content but with no music 🫢
I would LOVE it if the "Anything" with Alvin series was more like Alvin's old RUclips stuff. I miss that style so much. I made his 100-hour Lasagna once and it was incredible.
As a south korean myself, I can tell there is not such thing as too much garlic. For instance, the amount of garlic you used in this recipe is just normal. We just put it by our stainless bowl full of pure garlic goodness.
Hi Team, I am not very sure which program you referred to, but in Korea there is one particular TV program that people are skeptical of the REAL recipes used as it seems the recipes are way too complicated and cost-heavy to be sold at a marketplace/business setting. So please bear in mind that the banana may not be used in their real business, but may have been featured in the program for the sake of marketing/sales. I am Korean native living in Korea, and although I can't say I had ALL Korean chicken there is, I certainly never heard of one that has banana in it :)
Thank you for crediting the ideas of the recipes. This was not something that was done on this channel for many years especially when many recipes were very similar to Serious Eats blog posts. Serious eats fans know.
I used to work in the kitchen of a Korean fried chicken takeout place, and once I saw "Korean Fried Chicken" in another caption for an American recipe video I was ready to be disappointed but this was the closest I've seen someone do it! 🤍🤍🤍
I love watching yummy boy videos. So glad you are doing something from them. I've been curious about so many of the things they have recorded being made.
The ingredients reminded me of something I've been wanting to request. I want to see them make a gourmet version of Markipliers "perfect meal" from Distractable. I know it won't happen, but I just have a fun time trying to imagine it.
Eyy, this actually was simple enough that I think I could make it! (Erm, though I only have a slap-chopper and no food processor or blender at the moment. Working on that). Only thing is, I don't like cooking every day and would want leftovers. I feel this chicken would taste best only on day one and after that, it would lose that crunch in the skin.
A subscription feels restrictive to me. Why can't people own software outright, like the old CD programs or Winrar? I understand paying for server access and backend security, but can't individuals manage their own hardware backups, backend processing, and perform regular scans and updates? It's frustrating not having autonomy over what I purchase; it feels like I don't truly own it. Consider this: you buy the hardware, pay for it once, connect it to the internet, access all features through a device like a phone, and ensure regular updates. The current subscription model, where payments are automatically deducted from your bank account and easily forgotten, becomes problematic. For instance, if you move and forget to cancel your subscription, you end up wasting money.
There is a really great Korean fried chicken shop down the street from me. It’s my go to treat yo self meal! I really need to get myself a wok though so I can try to make it at home.
I watched the yummyboy video and I’m pretty sure that the spice slurry they add to the bananas and garlic has a bunch of chili or sambal like components. The final product looked suspiciously like chili garlic wings. I would also bet they use some combination of wheat/rice flours and starch in the batter and dredge to give it that signature crunch
I don't want to tell Alvin how to do his job, but in the clip they showed up front, it looks like they toss the chicken in the sauce first than the batter. Then they make a sauce. I watched the clip like 3 times. I think that matters since there are no eggs in the batter. Maybe the bananas act as an egg substitute? Idk I could be wrong. Alvin knows what he is doing. 6:28 that is why I said what I said up top. I think you were supposed to toss the chicken in some of the sauce.

Bananas are sometimes used as an egg substitute, so I think maybe they wanted something egg-like in the batter that wasn’t eggs?
Can also use 1/4 cup Greek Yogurt per egg as a substitute. I'm curious how that might change the flavour profile.

No, Koreans just like the sweet taste it gives when you put fruits in sauces. It's very common to put Asian pears, kiwis, or apples instead.

Banana ketchup is commonly used for sauces, directly using banana is bypassing the ketchup process
Purée banana might work as a dairy substitute for sauces that don’t need the protein.
