  • Hello Lovely Knitters! This video shows you a fabulous technique for casting on stitches provisionally. Casting on provisionally allows you to work in two directions with an invisible seam at the cast-on edge.

This is the BEST lesson on provisional cast-on. She gets right to it, it's perfectly paced, her voice and tone are calm and clear, and she gives you the essential information to get you going immediately. Thank you, elsteffo!

I’ve watched so many videos on this and this was the only one to make sense! So easy to follow with your very clear instructions. Thank you so much.

This video totally answered all the questions that some of the other invisible cast on videos brought up for me. Great job. Thank you so much.

Yes, your Australian no bullshit approach helps enormously. Fewer words, a lot less fiddling around, and clear instructions distinguishes it from others available. Well done, and hi all Aussie knitters!

After watching several videos of the provisional cast on yours is by far the easiest to follow, plus I like the idea of working onto a cable needle because the stitches are ready to go when you are. Thanks for this great video.

Thank you so much for this video; it explains the cable provisional cast on so clearly! I've used your video for 3 projects now and it's been so helpful and SO much easier than casting on to waste yarn. Many thanks!

Thank you for a great tutorial. I'm making a shrug for my wedding from yarn I spun and dyed myself. Your tutorial helped start off the project right! Cheers!

This is absolutely awesome. Why didn't someone think of this before? Why didn't "I" think of this before?

Great video. This seems like the best technique to do a PCO because the yarn is already on needles. You don't have to pick up loops that get dropped from a crocheted chain. Perfect!

This is great for doing a rolled hat brim when you fold up the brim and knit the provisional end to the working end together(paying attention to the legs). Way way easier than knitting into the bumps of waste yarn

Is it possible to do this cast on with two circular needles, so that I can join I in the round for the brim of a hat?

could you try and remember not everyone is a proficient knitter and slowing down and explaining step by step would be very helpful. In this instance I had to look elsewhere for help with this cast on
